I think this may be author Aimee Brown’s best yet! (And you know much I loved her debut THE LUCKY DRESS.) Hooked from the start. Delicious tension. What a love story. This author might owe me a manicure because her characters made me chew my nails down to the quick. Hard won happily-ever-after that had me turning pages till the wee hours of the morning. Easy to recommend.

Quick Summary: A "so hard to say goodbye" romance

My Review: Can't Take My Eyes Off You by Aimee Brown is a NA rom-com with attitude, sass, ridiculousness, and love.

About the Book: Just when Will Adler and Berkley Kaine were about to start their happily forever after, he up and signs a reality show contract without her knowledge. In the family dinner from hell, she is made aware of Will's plans. Unfortunately, things take a turn for the worst.

Question to Consider: Is taking a selfish risk worth losing your one true love?

My Final Say: Although this book started a bit clunky, it quickly hit its stride. I could not keep myself from gobbling it up. It was yummy! It totally won me over with its young love, love lost, love found angle. The author did a good job presenting the back and forth, tug of war that comes with losing the one you love the most. There were so many memorable moments that tugged on my heartstrings. It was funny. It was sad. It was serious. It was lovely.

Other: Readers who enjoy break up to make up love stories will like this novel.

Special Note: Certain trigger issues are addressed, such as alcoholism and infidelity. Family dysfunction is a huge part of this story.

Really adorable rom com that is perfect for whenever you need a quick, entertaining read! This gave me all the feels - nothing mind-blowing or unique about this one but sometimes that is a great thing. It is just a wonderful palette cleanser especially in between heavier or darker reads. I will definitely keep an eye out for other books by this author.

BLOG TOUR REVIEW

Review for 'Can't Take My Eyes Off You' by Aimee Brown.

Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Aimee Brown, Book And Tonic, Boldwood Books and Rachel's Random resources Tours.

Publication date 29th November 2023.

This is the second book I have read by this brilliant author. I have previously read 'Stuck With You' which I would also highly recommend!!

This novel consists of 36 chapters and an epilogue. The chapters are short to medium in length so easy to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!

What an absolutely brilliant must read!!! Absolutely loved it fairplay!!! This book has fantastic descriptions that set you straight in the scenes. The cover, title and synopsis suit the storyline perfectly.

An absolutely stunning romantic comedy page turner by the extremely talented Aimee!!! Her fantastic and evocative writing skills will pick you up and sweep you away with the storyline and characters and leave you feeling the emotions they are from anger to love, disgust to happiness. I was completely invested and immersed in the storyline and was absolutely devastated when I came to the end. The emotions, atmosphere and characters all came to life around me. An absolute gorgeous read filled with love, friendship, humour, heartbreak, anger, betrayal, family, fun and everything you could ask for in a fantastic reas!!! I gave up counting how many times I told myself one more chapter just to HAVE to know what happened next as this happened over and over until I ended up devouring the whole book in one sitting!!! This would make an absolutely gorgeous movie that I would love to see made!!! Be warned though if you are anything like me and forget the your not actually in the book or one of the characters then I advise you do not read this in public!! In my case waiting for my son to come out of school where I ended up shouting out 'Are you serious you complete bunch of snobs!?!' and 'OMG this guy is a complete bellend!!!' , and more. Oops!! Needless to say I won't be reading books down the school run anymore lol!! This book really is a lovely fantastic page turner which will have you feeling warm and fuzzy inside at times and yet screaming and shouting at certain people at other times. This book is a perfect read anywhere and anytime from on the beach in the middle of the day or curled up in fire in the middle of the night as long as you don't get shouted in public!!. I can't wait to get stuck into more of Aimee's feel fantastic books!!!

An absolutely fantastic book by the very talented Aimee. I would love to see this turned into a movie!! Clear your schedules as you won't want to put this one down!!

The characters were all an eclectic mix and each one of them were realistic and strong. Aimee's fantastic and evocative writing skills made them all come to life throughout the book and I loved their unique personalities!! I absolutely adored Berkley who was absolutely brilliant and a good role model!!! She shows that you shouldn't just sit there like a nodding dog and allow people to belittle what you do and who you are. I absolutely LOVED the way she spoke to the snob gang who I absolutely incredibly despised more than I have despised any characters I have ever met it books and THAT is saying something. I absolutely HATE people like them especially the princess wannabe!!! I also really liked Will who was the complete opposite of his family and just goes to shows that you don't have to be the same way as your family are. Berkley and Will had so much love for each other it was heartbreaking watching the snobs try and tear them apart but at the same time it was beautiful to watch them grow, change and develop individually and together. I won't say anymore about the characters but regardless of whether you loved them or hated them they all played the perfect parts in this fantastic page turner and each came to life through Aimee's amazing writing and storytelling skills.

A MASSIVE WELL DONE to Aimee on another HUGE success!!! I loved every page of your book and I cannot wait to read more past and future. This is exactly why you are on my favourite rom com author list and here's to your next success 🥂!!

Make sure you read to the very end of the book to read first chapter of Aimee's 'Stuck With You' which I have actually previously read and absolutely loved!! If you loved this book that one is another must read!!

Overall an unputdownable, gorgeous book filled with friendship, laughter and love.

340 pages.

This book is just £1.99 to purchase on kindle, free with kindle unlimited and £9.99 in paperback via Amazon which I think is an absolute bargain for this book!!!

Rated 5 /5 (I LOVED it ) on Goodreads, Instagram, Amazon UK and Amazon US and on over 30 Facebook pages plus my blog on Facebook.

A charming romantic read with a unique premise that taps into the world of reality TV.
I did not like Will's family one bit and found myself thinking Berkley would be far better off without the lot of them, as she was so fabulously feisty and strong. But of course the question is, despite everything pitched against them, will their love endure?
The story was a little heart-breaking in parts, as well as genuinely funny in others. A sweet, easy read about the power of one true love and two people trying their best to deal with a tough break-up and the perils of life in the spotlight.

Berkley and Will are childhood sweethearts, but Will comes from big money and a family who do not approve of Berkley. But with family influences and pressure Will has lied to Berkley, but can she move on was her heart always meant to be Will’s?
Brown writes another engaging narrative to keep readers hooked. Told from a dual point of view I loved that we could read from both these characters.
I did struggle slightly with the characters as they are toxic and some scenarios I found a little heavy, but this was a great addition to this author's list of novels and I still have them on my go-to list.

3.5⭐️

Aimee Brown has a way with words and she keeps her readers engaged. In this book, high school sweethearts Will and Berkeley deal with the aftermath of Will’s decision to star in a reality show.

This book touches on real life issues and family dynamics that though hard to understand exist today in the real world.

I enjoyed how real and relatable the plot is. The characters were stellar and delivered exactly what was expected of them.

I love the sequence and timelines outlined in the book. There was no fast forwarding of any scene. The reader was taken on the long journey of how these two found their way to each other.

I must confess that the last fifteen per cent of the book was the highlight for me. I love when people are paid back what they deserve.

I would have loved more details about how Will’s parents came to be in the position they found themselves in the end. I felt that was just sprung on the reader without any analysis.

If you love second chance romance, dual POV, reality tv then you will enjoy this.

I received an advanced copy and the review is mine and voluntary.

This is my third - and favorite - Aimee Brown book so far. I LOVED Berkley and Will! These characters felt so real. I laughed with them, and I felt their pain. I rooted for them from the very first page.

Thank you, Aimee, for another can't-put-it-down read!

I received a copy of this book through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

NOTE: Also submitted my review to Amazon but it hasn't posted yet.

Aimee Brown - can’t Take My Eyes Off You.

This book is a fabulous read.
I loved it from page one.

Berkley and Will are such a likeable couple. I was completely invested in their story and believed in their love for each other.
Even when they made poor life choices, they still loved the other whole heartedly.

I loved Berkley’s straight talking. She doesn’t mince her words and just says it like it is. Some of the things she came out with were priceless.

Aimee Brown has written an engaging love story. It has many ups, downs, twists and turns along the way.
I was compelled to keep reading because I needed to know if these two gorgeous characters found their happily ever after.

#CantTakeMyEyesOffYou is a thoroughly enjoyable read. It’s heartbreaking but also heartwarming. It has humour and a love story that will make your tummy tingle.

A must read!

I have read and thoroughly enjoyed a couple of Aimee's books. I just love the way in which she writes such funny romantic comedies. When I heard that Aimee was due to release another book, I knew that I had to grab a copy at the earliest opportunity and read it just as soon as I could. Well ladies and gents, the wait is over because Aimee's latest book is called 'Can't Take My Eyes Off You' and it was released on 29th November 2023. I thoroughly enjoyed reading 'Can't Take My Eyes Off You' but more about that in a bit.

I picked this book up at the perfect time for me as I was feeling a bit low and in need of a 'pick me up'. Well this book certainly picked me up and then some. I initially picked the book up only intending to read a chapter or two but I was so wrapped up in the story and in the lives of the different characters that I was still sat there reading several chapters and an hour or so later. I started chuckling away to myself from fairly early on in the story and that chuckling lasted until well after I had read the last word on the last page. This was one of those books that travelled everywhere with me as I couldn't bear to miss a single second of the story. The more of the story I read, the more I wanted to read and the quicker the pages seemed to turn. I did like the characters but at times I wanted to slap certain ones with a wet fish for their behaviour and attitudes. All too quickly I reached the end of 'Can't Take My Eyes Off You'. I found 'Can't Take My Eyes Off You' to be a funny and lighthearted romantic comedy.

'Can't Take My Eyes Off You' is superbly written but then I have come to expect nothing less from Aimee Brown. Aimee has an easy going writing style that is easy to get used to and easy to get along with. In fact reading one of Aimee's books feels more like a chat between friends rather than reading a book. Aimee certainly knows how to grab the reader's attention and draw them into what proves to be one heck of a story and then some. Aimee clearly cares about her characters and this shines through in the very vivid and realistic way in which she describes them. She makes her characters seem just as real as you and I. I found that I went through all the emotions that the different characters went through. The story is divided up into chapters with each chapter telling a portion of the story from either Berkly's or Will's point of view. The chapters interlink really well and the story flows seamlessly as a result.

In short, I thoroughly enjoyed reading 'Can't Take My Eyes Off You' and I would definitely recommend it to other readers. I will be reading much more of Aimee's work in the future. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 5* out of 5*.

I appreciate receiving a copy of Can't Take My Eyes Off You to review. I wanted to love it, and did, at the start. Berkley made me giggle to myself but I had a hard time loving Will as much. Certainly he had history and background for his choices but they didn't make me want to excuse him for choosing money over his relationship. I liked Berkley's workplace and circle of friends and family but hated Will's aside from Bryce (which I was meant to). At about the halfway point I felt like the story was close to wrapping up and was surprised when it didn't. I enjoyed some things about the story and writing style so I would read another by Aimee Brown.

Aimee Brown is the queen of romance, and she never disappoints. This one is no exception. It was full of amazing side characters with the added backdrop 9f a reality TV show, making it utterly addictive.

In this book, I found myself in a big amount of emotions that formed a bridge across time, connecting the characters' experiences with my own reflections. The profound resonance of the narrative reignited a yearning to rediscover the vibrancy of youth.

As the story unfolded, the author's exploration of both missteps and sagacious choices served to emphasize life's cyclical rhythm, where the shadows of challenges are inevitably followed by the warmth of sunshine. This thematic undercurrent added a layer of depth to the narrative, making it more than just a tale—it became a reflection on the broader patterns of existence.

At the heart of it all was the main character, whose captivating journey etched a permanent place in my heart. Each chapter seemed to draw me closer to a poignant understanding of life's intricate beauty. This literary odyssey, with its nuanced portrayal of challenges and triumphs, stands as a compelling reminder that, much like the changing seasons, life unfolds in a series of interconnected moments.

Sure it leaves an marvelous impression, inviting readers to reflect on their own journey through the lens of the characters' captivating lives.

Thank you to Boldwood Books and Aimee for the copy of Can’t Take My Eyes Off You in exchange for an honest review.
I really wanted to love this. I LOVE second chance romance and books with reality shows in them. I find that the comedy factor really shines in these kind of situations. However, I feel like the relationship between Will and Berkley is all kinds of Toxic with a capital T. I just couldn't root for them anymore.
At first (the first chapter is Berkley's POV) I truly didn't think that Will was going to be the MMC. I thought he would just end up as the snooty ex-boyfriend. His attitude and behavior made it really hard for me to like him, and believe when I say that an unlikable FMC is salvageable, but an unlikable MMC is the freaking worst. Why on earth would he participate in the reality show in the first place??? Makes no sense to me.
Also, the redemption arc is extremely rushed and Berkley forgives and forgets like the lustful mindless girl she is. Good for her.
This is not a good second chance romance. I am really sorry about it because the writing itself was great. I just found the story a bit problematic and the plotting a bit weak.

I’ve loved the previous Aimee Brown books I’ve read (still not totally sure if the matching covers are a series or not - the others all seem to have overlap in characters, but not this one)… This book was so very different than everything else I’ve read from her. I’m still trying to figure out my thoughts. I believe this is more a 3-star but I’m giving it 3.5, rounded up to 4 as my final rating. The ending definitely picked up (I had to put it aside and come back to it after reading others to lift my mental state).

This is listed as a RomCom - it most definitely is not. Brown even mentioned that somewhere in the notes that it had to be categorized and she realized it’s emotionally and topically heavy and not funny… there is so much drama and a whole lot of angst in this storyline and the couple (and side characters) really just go through so much. There is no humor. It is not at all light hearted.

If you’re looking for a change in pace, have a strong mental day and are good to go, then you can pick this one up - but be prepared! Will and Berkeley’s drama-filled story is riddled with an unsupportive family, substance abuse issues and pressures of reality tv and everything that encompasses (being involved in that world as a star). It’s a rough emotional ride.

I received an advance copy from NetGalley and Boldwood Books, and this is my honest opinion.

Thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for this ARC 💙! I voluntarily give my honest review and all opinions expressed are my own.

✔️ Contemporary Romance/2nd chance romance
✔️ Wealthy/opposites attract
✔️ Reality TV
✔️ dual POV's

Berkley Kaine and William Adler have been together since they were 15 years old. In 7 years, Will's family has never approved of their relationship because Berkley doesn't have a lot of money. She will be graduating from college, plans to run the To Be Read bookstore, and move into Will's remodeled apartment with him. Will secretly signs onto a reality show without talking to Berkley first. They break up because he lied, and Berkley doesn't want to be on TV.

The characters- I couldn't believe Will truly loved Berkley in the beginning because he didn't stand up for her. After all their time together, I would have expected a marriage proposal. Berkley gets to watch him spiral into "Prince Willy" the alcoholic. His offal older brother Mike and Felicity and Finn Harper-another wealthy family-join in the madness. They try dating other people, but their hearts belong to each other.

Overall, the romance was cute, but I hated all the characters except Berkley, her parents, and bff Olivia. Will's whole family including himself was selfish, capitalist pigs. He redeems himself, but it takes way too long considering him and Berkley had 7 years together.

I was not a fan. Both characters were immature. I know they were in their early/mid twenties but they acted like they were in high school. There were some funny parts but I couldn’t get over the shallowness of all of the characters. Thank you for this free advanced copy from NetGalley. I am voluntarily leaving my opinion

Thank you to Boldwood Books and Aimee for letting me have an ARC copy of Can’t Take My Eyes Off You to
give a fair and honest review. I wanted to like this book, the blurb sounded like something right up my romance alley with a interesting premise. I expected Berkley and Will to do battle against his snooty family and the reality show trying to tear them apart. The story was too toxic, full of unrealistic drama and ridiculously maddening, but in the world of celebrities, sports stars and reality tv anything can happen right?!

For me this wasn’t a romance book, it was a head-on-collision and total write-off smash up is the only way to describe the events of this book. My head hurt from the fall-out of the relationship break up of this story. It puts Ross and Rachel’s ‘we were on a break’ to shame. Pure chaos with too few fun bits to make it a rom-com.

For three years over the course of 75% of the book, the characters for me weren’t developed to a standard were I could relate to them, like them or even find anything in common with them. I read to the end of this story because I wanted to believe there would be some character development, eventually Will does come to a realisation about how he messed up his own life and has behaved/treated Berkley like a trash. He gets a spine and does something to grow and try to find a way to put things right. It squashes what I expected to be the main focus of the story into rushed events and Berkley and Will fall back together almost instantly without any real growth from her.

Sadly, this book wasn't the second chance romance I hoped for. Might be interesting for another reader but not for me.

Another adorable book from Aimee Brown. I loved the drama - it was so ridiculous and unrealistic, yet also perfect. The characters were so well done - they had issues, they worked to fix their issues. Their relationship was perfectly imperfect and you watched them grow together. Their friends and family were amazing and horrible - i definitely had favorites. i laughed, i cringed and i cried. A we written, perfect escape from reality!

thank you netgalley for my advanced reader copy.

⭐⭐⭐⭐

Dive into Aimee Brown's "Can't Take My Eyes Off You," a delightful romantic comedy that’s like a warm hug on a rainy day. Berkley Kaine and Will Adler's love story unfolds in a charming, funny, and utterly relatable manner that makes it an easy pick for fans of feel-good romance.

Berkley and Will, despite their idyllic love story, face the formidable challenge of Will's influentially rich family. This isn't just a love story; it's a journey of overcoming family pressures, unexpected twists, and the rollercoaster that is reality TV. Brown weaves the narrative with humor and authenticity, making you root for the characters from the very beginning.

What I loved most about this rom-com is its human touch. Brown’s writing sparkles, and the characters are beautifully flawed, authentically funny, and incredibly relatable. As you follow Berkley and Will through their trials, you'll find yourself laughing, empathizing, and hoping for their happily-ever-after.

The opposites-attract trope is expertly handled, and the chemistry between Berkley and Will is brilliant. Brown introduces extra characters and connections that add depth to the story, making it not just a romance but a journey that feels real and heartwarming.

As a bookworm, I appreciate Brown's ability to craft a story that balances humor, pathos, warmth, and sensuality. It’s not just about love; it's about second chances, letting go of the past, and forging ahead into the future. "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" is a romantic tale that hits all the right notes.

In the world of romance, Aimee Brown has carved a place for herself. Her books are like comfort food for the soul, leaving you eagerly anticipating the next adventure. If you're a fan of Sarah Adams, Lindsey Kelk, or Abby Jimenez, this one's a must-add to your reading list. Happy reading, fellow bookworms! 📚💖
