thank you to netgalley for the advanced reading copy. I really enjoyed this and will be getting copies for my shop.
I first grabbed this book because it has a super cool premise. I mean, who wouldn't be interested in a mermaid turned vampire?! The story was engaging right off the bat, but then slowed to a crawl for a good chunk of the book. I did struggle a bit with the writing style as some of the writing seemed well-developed while other parts seemed very inconsistent. All that aside, I LOVED all of the magical creatures incorporated. The spice was definitely spicy, though I feel that there were several times when it was thrown in at odd moments IMO. The book has its redeeming qualities for sure, but I feel that it just needs a bit more editing for consistency.
Thanks to NetGalley for providing me with my initial copy of this book free of charge in exchange for my honest review.
A big thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for the eARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is the first in a new series. This started out great for me, I was interested in the characters but somewhere I sort of got bored-or lost interest. I really liked Alex and Nimera but I am not sure what happened but the rest was just ok for me. Not sure, maybe my mood changed and if I read it in a month may love it all. 3 stars I would recommend giving it a try though-as the vampires are different.
It actually was the first vampire novel I ever read and I have to say it was pretty good. I'm not such a vampire fan, which I didn't had high expectations but it really was better than I expected, especially because of the crime part, which was really exciting. I really hope there are other books of this series coming soon.
One thing I still have to say ,that I think it's funny how vampires always have different powers (like shimmering in the sun...) and I really liked this books' version
