Penny is stunned when her long term boyfriend suddenly dumps her just before Christmas. Wanting to keep herself busy before embarking on a new life in India she offers to Nanny for the Lord family over the Christmas period.
Penny arrives at the huge Manor House, owned by grumpy Lando Lord.
Ensues a grumpy sunshine romance….
A few thoughts… these kids, they were four years old.. now don’t get me wrong I’m the furthest from an expert in kids as you can get but weren’t they a little advanced in talking for FOUR YEAR olds? Please tell me if you agree. I haven’t seen this mentioned in any other reviews and I wanna know if I’m going mad!
The book was fine. It entertained me, it had all the festive activities and fun.
I wasn’t emotionally connected to the characters at all. The relationship felt weird and not at all organic and natural. The speech was strange.
I don’t really know what I'm saying but it didn’t flow for me really, the dialogue, the characters.
I did love the Grandad though!
Thanks @netgalley for sending me a copy of this to read and review.

This was cute, I liked the story and the characters were really loveable. The writing however fell flat and felt almost childish at some points!! If you’re looking for a very easy read with cute characters and an okay storyline this is really good

Penny's long-term boyfriend dumps her right before Christmas-she's expecting a proposal after ten years and he is ready to move on. A teacher on term break, she sees an ad desperately seeking a nanny for the Lord family in Dorset. The aristocratic family needs help with rambunctious and precocious 4-year old twins while their artist mother finishes up consignments for the holidays. Penny jumps at the chance, not expecting to return to her teaching job after and move to India with her family. Lonely and sad, she is enamored by the stunning English manor house-her home for the next month. The twins are adorable, their mother funny and zany and their grandfather dashing and polite. When Penny encounters the twin's uncle Lando, who is anything but in the Christmas spirit, she tries to steer clear-except fate has different plans. With a supporting cast of quirky characters this is a very uplifting, charming holiday story.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest feedback.

Christmas with the Lords has such a cute cover! Not having heard of this book or author before, the cover definitely caught my attention and drew me in! This was a cute Christmas story that had a little bit of everything. And it absolutely felt like a Hallmark movie, which is what I was looking for, so that was perfect! When Penny unexpectedly gets dumped by her boyfriend, she decides to take a short term nanny job during the holidays. She finds herself caring for the Lord children and meeting a whole cast of unique characters along the way. There is a bit of romance at the end. I would have liked more of this. For me, the book was much stronger at the beginning than the end. But it was a cute read if you're looking for a light Christmas book.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for allowing me to read this book as an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
This is the story of Penny, who has just come out of a 10 year relationship and is questioning her life choices as she approaches 40. In an attempt to get away from her problems and to avoid spending Christmas alone she accepts a post helping to look after 4-year old twins at the Lord’s estate over the festive holidays. She is quickly welcomed into the complicated family supporting each of them in her own way. She is particularly drawn to the grumpy uncle, L’andò Lord, who owns the country estate they are staying at.
I was quickly pulled into the story and, probably because I found the character of Penny so relatable, found myself routing for her to get everything she wanted. This is a heart-warming story of found family and love, perfect for the Christmas season.

A cute and fun Christmas romance
When Penny's boyfriend of several years suddenly dumps her, just for Christmas, she is left alone with only a broken heart. Deciding to take some time for herself, she taked a short-term job as a nanny in a family she doesn't know in the countryside for Christmas. When she arrives in the manor she's going to live in, she gets to meet the children and the rest of this very interesting family. Including the owner of the place, Lando Lord, the grouchy uncle...
This book was very fun and cute to read. I liked that the romance was smooth and slowburn, and that the characters had a change to discover one another before the feelings creeped in, despite the lack of time. The main character was very relatable and I liked how she decided to take matters into her own hands after the betrayal she suffered. The Lord family was quite touching and I liked how the welcomed Penny into their space. It was really adorable to see them work together for Christmas and even if I don't relaly like children myself, I enjoyed this story very much. The only thing I could say was that it was a bit too slow and predictible at times for the "plottwists" but it's a Christmas romance so that's not really what we're looking for in one anyway! Overall, a great read!
I recommend if you want a cute Christmas romance!

Cute Christmas feel-good read, perfect for the holiday season.
Thanks #netgalley for the advanced read.

Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of “Christmas with the Lords” by Hannah Langdon. All opinions are my own.
When Penny’s boyfriend of ten years ends the relationship and disrupts the future she had planned, she decides to leave for Christmas and stay as a nanny for a wealthy family at their country estate. There she experiences tremendous self growth and love as she becomes one of the family, as well as feelings develop between her and the children’s uncle.
This book was rather slow to start and had a lot of fluff. The paragraphs were way too long and hard to follow at times. But by 60% I was really into it and loved the ending.

A cute and quick holidays book. A lot of cozy vibes that put you in a Christmas vibes! Really enjoyed it

Review of “Christmas with the Lords” by Hannah Langdon 🎄
4,5 ⭐️
Aw, this book was everything, so cute!! It had all the Christmas vibes, cute characters, the cutest kids and the best scenery. I had a very good time with it and at some points had a hard time putting it down ❄️🧑🎄
This story follows Penelope, who, after her long-time boyfriend ended things, decides to take on a job helping a mother in Dorset with her kids. The mother, Bunny, welcomes her with open arms and her two kids are adorable. Honestly, I had some “The Housemaid” vibes when Penelope started helping out, but this story was waaaay cuter than that one, haha ♥️
Enter Lando, the children’s grumpy uncle. Grumpy yes, but immediately I loved him as a character and I loved the developments of both him and Penelope during the book.
One thing that I noticed and thought was so funny was how much these people ate in this story, haha. It went from breakfast, to hot chocolate and candy and a big lunch and gingerbread houses and pizza’s. Honestly just funny and I love to read about people with a good appetite 🍪

I loved this book! This was a lovely holiday read filled with plenty of characters and plot twists. There was romance and family drama and plenty of holiday cheer throughout. Penny is a middle-aged schoolteacher freshly dumped by her boyfriend of ten years that she rightly thought would be her future. Instead, he breaks it off leaving her to feel cheated and embarrassed at having “wasted” ten years on this relationship. She is ready to make a big life change, she plans to quit her job and move to India where her parents are currently living. Before that, though, she decides to take a short term job as a mother’s helper for a family in Dorset. The Lord family is gathering at Uncle Lando’s posh home and the busy mother of twins, Caspian and Seraphina, needs someone to keep the twins busy while she finishes some commission work. Penny is immediately drawn in to this family and also to Lando. The story of the Lord family and Penny is sweet but not too syrupy. Penny doesn’t just go from one relationship to another, she takes this time to discover herself a bit and what she really wants and it’s a satisfying story for her. I thoroughly enjoyed Christmas with the Lords.

kind of like if A Christmas Prince and every other Christmas movie had a baby. Loved the cozy vibes and the feeling of Christmas this book gave!

Christmas with the Lords was a fun, holiday rom-com with such a quirky set of characters! I want to spend Christmas with the Lord family myself! Having just been in England, and even seeing the theater described in the book, I felt transported to the little cozy town and home. Enjoyable book that put me in the holiday spirit!

I was sent this as a ARC via NetGalley and I really enjoyed this feelgood festive read. I really liked the fact Penny was 38 as sometimes it's nice for the FMC to be closer to my age.
Penny is a school teacher who is suddenly dumped by her boyfriend of 10 years who she thought might propose to her. She decides she needs a change and the chance to help be a nanny to 2 adorable 4 year old twins in Cornwall for the Christmas period.
Lando is the grumpy uncle who owns the estate the family are staying on and he seems to keep to himself working on his wooden sculptures.
This books was really comforting with the grumpy sunshine trope, adorable children and their fabulous mother who just reminds me of that Catherine Tate sketch where she has gooseberry yogurts.
HHighly recommend for a easy festive read.

I must say I was really disappointed in reading this book I thought it would be romantic and sweet but for me, it was too boring. Perhaps my expectations were too high.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly

it was difficult to finish this book.
not because it was but, cause i had so much work that each time i picked up the book i would fell asleep of exhaustion.
i just want to say that this book was amazing. full of life-lessons, hard decisions, christmas spirit, children, magic and LOVE.
Penny, my dear, such a lovely woman, always ready to help and take care of everyone but herself. Thirty-eight and scared of life, made the decision to mold her future, hold her present and move on from the past.
I LOVED her character development. it was beautifully done.
Lando, grumpy and praising solitude just to get away from his mental issues, the breakdowns and everything that could trigger him. Learnt how people can come into your life to take care of you, and not feel like you’re a burden.
The ending was just perfect, i had to read that ending a few times. I literally cried.
thanks to netgalley and the publisher for sending me and eARC.💞

Fun filled Christmas romance? Yes! This was lots of fun! The characters were relatable and the holiday sprite was infectious. 🎄

Penny can't believe it when her boyfriend of 10 years dumps. On the spur of the moment she takes a job as nanny to twins for Xmas. She then realises that she's in for a chaotic time with all the different family members

When Penny's boyfriend if 10 years breaks up with her, she decides she needs to restart her life in India. But, before she leaves she takes a short term job as a Nanny for a set of twins.
This was such a fun Christmas story. Sometimes you just need to read a story that warns your heart and makes you smile, this was it for me. A predictable Hallmark type of rom-com, but still very enjoyable. I really liked the added layers of family. It's definitely a feel good story with an underlying theme.... do what makes YOU happy!
Thank you to Netgalley, Hannah Langdon, and the publisher for this free ebook. This review is 100% my own and honest review.

Christmas with the Lords is a cute, Hallmark-esque Christmas book. Penny's heart has just been broken by her long-term boyfriend. So she takes a job as a short-term nanny for a family for the Christmas season. Penny is caring for an adorable set of twins, and finds herself falling in love with them....and possibly falling for their Uncle Lando?
What I liked: This was a charming story. It truly felt like the best of a cozy Christmas movie. The characters were delightful and likeable. The setting was beautiful and it was easy to imagine yourself there.
What I didn't like: I would have liked to see just a TAD more romance....the slow burn was extremely slow.
Overall, a cute Christmas story when you want something to cozy up with.
