This is a super cute clean romance! I love how Penny really found family in this book. Landon was just the cherry on top!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this arc in exchange for an honest review!
I loved this book! It was a lovely grumpy/sunshine Christmas romance, with a lovely scene and such a fabulous HEA. I love a good found family in a novel, and this scratched my found family itch perfectly.
I really liked that the relationship development felt quite natural, and not as pressured as Christmas romances often can, except that Penny seemed to really jump ahead in terms of her feelings about the relationship, before she had already even really had a conversation with Lando. She was more of a pushover than I enjoy in my romances, but I think despite this, the novel worked for me.
Penny is a teacher, who takes a job as a 'mother's help' or a nanny to twins in Dorset, right before Christmas. There she meets grumpy Lando, and a beautiful relationship with both the twins' family and Lando develops.
It shouldn't be a surprise if you read the blurb, but there's lots of kid-related stuff - Penny the MC is a nanny. There is quite a lot of conversation about fertility and wanting to have kids, so if you don't like that kind of content, this might be good to note. Personally, it's not my cup of tea, but the really lovely romance outmatched my lack of love for baby content.
I really enjoyed this book, and it will for sure go on my Holiday Romance recommendations.

Christmas with the Lords by Hannah Langdon is a wonderfully warm and seasonal piece of escapism. Penny has just been dumped by her boyfriend of ten years and , in an effort to do something completely different for Christmas she travels to Dorset to work as mother's help to Bunny and her twins. It's all beautifully perfect: delightful children, welcoming adults and a gorgeous house in an idyllic village. (Thankfully for me the ubiquitous dogs are fairly low-key. What is it with romance writers and dogs just now?)
I loved the book and will be recommending it to all and sundry; possibly even buying it for them!
'Christmas With the Lords' by Hannah Langdon is a fun, cozy holiday read. Once I started reading, I couldn't stop and finished it in one day.
In Langdon's heartwarming novel, Penny, fresh from a painful breakup after a decade-long relationship, embarks upon healing and self-discovery during the magical Christmas holiday season. When she agrees to become a nanny for the Lord family's charming four-year-old twins in the idyllic English countryside, she seeks a much-needed distraction from her troubles. What she finds, however, is far more than she ever expected.
The Lord family, a delightful and endearing cast of characters, soon weave their way into Penny's heart, offering her not only amusing adventures but also a newfound sense of belonging and the possibility of a budding romance. As Penny navigates her role as a caregiver and forms deep bonds with the Lords, Langdon artfully explores the themes of abandonment, mental health, the importance of choosing one's own family, and pursuing one's true desires in life.
Langdon beautifully captures the enchanting English countryside and the warmth of the holiday season. The Lord family's interactions and unique personalities make them instantly relatable and endearing to readers, and of course, the addition of two adorable dogs can't hurt! This is a delightful, uplifting story that is perfect for reading around the holiday season. It would also make a great movie!
I look forward to reading more of Hannah Langdon's books. Thank you to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for an advanced copy of this book.
This is a cute Christmas story. It did take me a bit to get into. It has some slow spots and come really good parts as well. Penny, Lando, the kids, and dog make for a cute story. Lando is pretty mysterious so that adds to the story. It’s more of a slow burn romance so it will take some time for true feelings to reveal.
All in all it was a cute read and I would recommend it.
If Bridgerton was a modern rom-com! So fun and perfect for this season. I love a nanny romance and this didn't disappoint. I could totally see this being a Hallmark movie.
Everything you need to enjoy a festive feelgood story!
One of the best collections of characters I've read in a long time, each one could have their own follow up book, I enjoyed every page getting to know them. A big house, cute kids, adorable dogs, a winter wonderland, chemistry and lots of parties and other Christmas celebrations make this a great read from start to finish.
This totally missed the mark for me. Maybe I should have stopped reading when Bunny changed Penny's name to Pixie and Penny was absolutely fine with it.
The main character Penny was a total push over. She needed to let go of thoughts about her ex. It was irritating to read the name Timothy, over and over again. Her thoughts about the actual ease of moving to India were just plain ridiculous. Where in India was she actually planning to go? Who knows?
There was zero chemistry between Penny and Lando. It was baffling the way that Penny seemed to have a relationship in her head with him even before they'd had a proper conversation. The entire book was filled with a bunch of really annoying characters. I was bewildered at Ben's character because I don't think he actually even spoke.
This is a lovely, feel-good book with delightful characters which whisked me out of humdrum reality and put a goofy smile on my face. Hannah Langdon has produced a charming and engaging take on familiar tropes, which definitely left me satisfied.
I enjoyed Penny’s journey towards self-awareness and the realisation that she doesn’t have to settle for anything less than her own happiness. With lots of Christmassy sparkle thrown in, it’s a fun way to enjoy some festive cheer. Thank you to the author, NetGalley and Storm Publishing for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
A charming book written by a teacher during the pandemic which must have been quite a task with all the extra effort required of teachers at the time. A lovely cosy romantic novel that left me wanting to read another instalment to see how the characters develop. Thanks to Storm Publishing and NetGalley for the chance to ARC
Fluffy.
Penny just got dumped and takes a job for Christmas as a nanny/helper at the Lords manor.
She keeps running into Lando.
This is a fairly light and fluffy read.
This book was a charming Christmas story about a women, freshly out of a 10 year relationship, who accepts a job as a mother’s helper for two 4-year old twins. Most books have a plot, a climax, a resolution and then an ending. This book was really more of just a story. I kept waiting for the problem to surface and it never really did. The romance was a very slow burn and felt more forced than reality. I didn’t dislike reading this book, but I didn’t have any strong emotions when I finished it either.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for this ARC! This book was absolutely wonderful. Within the first 30 pages I was obsessed with the Lord family and so invested in this story. I loved everything about it and will definitely be recommending it to friends looking for a Christmas romance this holiday season!!
Unfortunately, this was not the cute, holiday read I was craving. It was quite boring and I felt like the author was constantly adding fluffy words to make the word count goal. I wish I liked it.
Thanks to NetGalley for the advanced copy.
This is the first time I read this author. Very enjoyable read. I got into the story fairly quickly. Good storyline. I will read this author again. Thank you Netgalley!
Christmas with the Lords is a cosy festive romance novel by Hannah Langdon.
I was hooked from the very first page, it was such a cute and cosy festive novel that I read it in two days. The story was easy to follow and the characters were likeable. A brilliant novel that I highly recommend.
❤️ Thank you to netgalley and the author, Hannah Langdon and the publisher for my arc ebook copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
This is a great holiday read.
Cuddle up in front of the fire and escape to Penny’s world and enjoy a Christmas where heartbreak turns to love..
Two people who have been battered by life experiences get their happy endings when they least expect it.
Just what Christmas should be
This book was a bit of a let down. I didn’t enjoy the characters and assumed there would be a lot more romance. At 20% nothing had happened yet in the story and I thought to myself, what’s the point of this book? I found myself zoning out a lot when reading it. It was a good concept but just didn’t do it for me. I do love the book cover!
Want to read a Hallmark movie? This book is for you! This is a perfect read for anyone needing to escape from the stress of the holiday season.
The premise is cute. Penny, a school teacher, needs to get away for the holiday season, so she takes a job as a nanny to twins. She finds herself curious about the twins' grumpy uncle and we can all guess where that goes.
Honestly, the book missed the mark for me. I found myself really bored throughout the novel. I could not get invested in the characters or the storyline. Penny and Lando had little to no chemistry. It just was not for me.
Thank you to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Definitely adding this to my list of annual holiday reads -- it was so heartwarming. Definitely closed door but I loved the Christmas descriptions and the authentic UK Christmas activities. The characters were well written and the story just fell into place. I can't wait for more from this author! Definitely add to your TBR!!
Christmas with the Lords comes out next week on November 9, 2023, and you can purchase HERE!
I thought back to dinners I had had with Timothy's parents and felt very glad that Christmas would be spent at the Lords' table and not theirs. Timothy could be ponderous and had a tendency to lecture rather than converse; his father was the same. His mother, who looked permanently panicked, and I had all but given up trying to join in and would sit in near silence as they mansplained politics, economics, social theory and even education without ever asking for our input or opinion. As William chattered away, asking me all about myself, checking up with Pilar about her infirm sister and wondering what we thought was the best way to teach children classic literature, I wondered why I had put up with Timothy all those years. I suppose I had thought that was 'the way it was', that you got together with a man and then spent the next fifty years slightly dissatisfied, which was the path that many of my friends had embarked on.
