This was a fast paced sequel to My Daughter's Boyfriend. While this was somewhat suspenseful and a quick listen, it wasn't my favorite by this author. There weren't really any big twists that I enjoy when I read thrillers, but if you enjoy a quick read or are newer to thrillers, you may enjoy this more. You do not have to read the first book in order to enjoy this one as the author does give a good recap but I think it helps you really see the characters personalities if you read both. I read the physical book of the first in the series and did audio for the second. I really enjoyed that each character had a different narrator but I don't think the narrator for Ellie was a good fit. In the first book I got the impression that she was a strong, no bs, independent girl, but in this one I got the impression that she was very whiny and dependent, and I think a lot of that had to do with the narrator.
Not bad if you just need a speedy read to cleanse your pallet.
I am very behind but thank you to NetGalley and Daniel Hurst for allowing me to listen to an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Ellie gets married to the man of her dreams. But not everyone is a fan of Kyle. Dawn is Ellie’s mom and she doesn’t trust Kyle. I finished this book so quick! I loved getting to listen to it. So many twists and turns! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time! Daniels books are always so good. I can always count on his books when I want a good thriller!

Thank you NetGalley, Daniel and Bookouture audio for the E-ALC!

This is the second book in the My Daughter’s Boyfriend series, and it is just as good as the first one.
Ellie has just married Kyle, thinking she will have her happily ever after, but things are not as they seem and it isn’t long before Ellie’s mum, Dawn, starts getting suspicious.
Meanwhile, we have Harvey, Ellie’s ex-boyfriend’s dad being released from prison and making his way to England for revenge.
I listened to the audiobook of this, it was told by three narrators which I think made the characters really stand out, and I found that I wasn’t confused with who the point of view was from and each was very real in feeling, expressiveness etc.

This book had me gasping with shock at times, there were so many twists and turns.

Daniel Hurst always writes such amazing books that get your mind ticking. It was so good.

This book in the sequel to My Daughter's Boyfriend, wherein the main character, the mom and her daughter Ellie, barely make it out alive at the hands of Ellie's mad man boyfriend. Now, this book begins at Ellie's wedding to a new man, who surely must be better, right?

Ellie and her new beau do not get as far as the honeymoon before Mom learns a secret that her new son-in-law is hiding. Could Ellie really have that bad of taste in men?! Is Ellie's past about to catch up with her?

Without giving away too much of this story, I will say that it was a very enjoyable, thriller read. As with most thrillers these days, you have to suspend disbelief and just enjoy the wild ride. I listened to this book on audio and the narrators did a fantastic job. I flew through this book in a couple days, and while it was not overtly memorable as far as psychological thrillers go these days, I did enjoy it. I would recommend for a beach read or travel read. It is very fast paced and will keep the pages turning.

Special thank you to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for this Advance Reader Audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

I didnt realize this was book 2 but it didn't matter as Daniel Hurst does a great job of giving you enough of backstory of Ellie and her mom's past journey to get you ready for what is to come with the upcoming marriage of Ellie and Kyle. I love how Hurst jumps right into the action and doesn't let up! I loved listening to the dual POV and the crazy danger that keeps coming.

Another punchy story from Daniel - following on from My Daughters Boyfriend. The short snappy chapters make for a fast read. How much can one mother and daughter take?? Made me wonder if there will be another book in the series although cannot imagine what could happen next.

Daniel Hurst's "My Daughter's Husband" delivers an exhilarating ride from start to finish. The suspenseful plot twists and turns keep readers on the edge of their seats, as they follow the gripping tale of deception, betrayal, and redemption. Hurst masterfully crafts characters with depth and nuance, making it impossible to predict their true intentions until the very end. The pacing is relentless, driving the narrative forward with relentless momentum. With each chapter, the tension escalates, culminating in a shocking climax that leaves a lasting impact. Fans of psychological thrillers will find themselves thoroughly engrossed in this intricately plotted and expertly executed novel.

I personally didn’t like this one and I feel like that’s mainly because I listened to it as an audiobook and audiobooks don’t seem to be for me. I definitely want to give it another try.

This is the second installment from Daniel Hurst which details the love life of Ellie and her mother Dawn. I enjoyed the first book and looked forward to the second. It did not disappoint!

Ellie has the worst taste in men but luckily her mother Dawn is a super hero and comes to the rescue, not once but twice. In the second book, Dawn is not the petulant twenty something she was in the last book and is a much more enjoyable character. I have to say I did not see some of the plot twists coming. It was very entertaining.

The book ends with Dawn navigating the dating scene, so I am hoping for some more installments in this series.

I love the way Daniel Hurst writes revenge plots. He has quickly become a fave author of mine, and this book didn’t disappoint. I was so excited to rejoin Dawn and Ellie in this sequel to My Daughter’s Boyfriend, and this book did not disappoint.

This book was full of suspense, drama, and great twists. This book moves at breakneck speed and I finished it in one sitting. I was impatiently waiting on what would happen next. The character development continues from the first book and we get to know them even better. There was more than one “bad guy” which made for an exciting and thrilling storyline throughout. There were dueling plots at play, but they were seamlessly woven together in a way that all made sense. All of these factors made the twisty twists even better. And that ending?! Amazing!

I listened to the audiobook and the narrators did a great job. I love audiobooks that have different voices for different characters. The pitches and tones used matched what was happening in the story at the moment and helped to build the suspense.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC in exchange for my honest and voluntary review.

Another fast paced, page turner book by Daniel Hurst. This is a second book in a series and although the first book is referenced, I did not feel confused despite not reading the first book. After a traumatic relationship (in the first book), Ellie has found love again. She marries Kyle and her mother hopes this sets her up for a lifetime of happiness. But just a few short days after the wedding, her mother, Dawn, uncovers something that shows her that Kyle may not be who he says he is. Dawn will stop at no length to protect her daughter.

There are many twists in this story and the ending will have you reeling. The narrator did a great job and it was an enjoyable listen.

Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for the copy of this book!

I'm such a fan of listening to the author's thrillers. I think of them as popcorn thrillers because they play out like a movie as I listen. I've mostly listened to his books and find them to be a perfect match. I always love the narrators and they complement the story. Harrie Dobby, Adam Sims, and Tamsin Kennard were the perfect choice for this one. I was so engaged listening to them bring this story to life.

This is the sequel to My Daughter's Boyfriend. And while you do not have to read them in order, I think I got the most enjoyment from knowing what previously happened.

These characters can make some really poor decisions. I spent a little bit of my listen going what are you thinking!?!?! But that is the fun of this series. The outrageous predicaments and the audacity of the characters.

Fast paced and very entertaining.

I purchased a copy of this audiobook on Audible, and I leave my review voluntarily.

DANIEL HURST OH, MY STARS. This was bananas! The way this brilliant human writes a twist will leave you speechless.

I will read anything written by Daniel. I love how he tells a story, develops his characters, and curates a twist. This was fantastic.

The way this book picked up five years after the first book was clever and did. It didn’t feel like any time was lost. The characters still appeared to have grown and evolved, all while still carrying the trauma of that night.

I loved having the three perspectives. That was well done. I also appreciated the American accent for Harvey. As an American, I have to say I found several of the phrases Harvey used very English. It was adorable, honestly. (We don’t tend to say windscreen; we say windshield, or we say parking garage vs car park).

I devoured this book. The narrators did an excellent job bringing the characters to life; their emotions were powerful, and their performances were engaging.

The ending of this book left me staring at nothing for a whole, though. I can say I did not see that coming. I cannot wait for more from this author!

Harvey, after five years in prison, has a revenge plot in mind. Harvey lost his son Daryll when his ex Ellie when killed him in self-defense during an attack. Now Ellie is about to marry Kyle, who portrays himself as a successful businessman. However, things are not what they seem and it just might be that Kyle has been lying and keeping secrets.

Ellie's mother Dawn is more than suspicious about her daughter’s new husband Kyle as apparently he has been less than honest on more than one occasion. Bottom line, she feels that he is a liar. Between Dawn's suspicions and Daryll's father Harvey seeking revenge for his son's death, the young couple's chance at happiness just might be short lived.

My Daughter's Husband was a thrilling, fast-paced read. The various points of view were done in first person, and they each had a narrator, Tamsin Kennard, Harrie Dobby and Adam Sims. This style of writing as well as the excellent narration made this book go really quickly.

This book follows My Daughter's Boyfriend by Daniel Hurst and takes place five years later. Anyone seeing a couple in love about to marry just might want the best for them, but there is a dark shadow looming with a nod to the previous book and characters, while lending itself to serious drama, done in a way that made this book impossible to put down.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.
