The Husbands revolves around Lauren who, upon returning home to her flat in London, is greeted by a man claiming to be her husband, even though she is not married. The plot delves into themes of choice, love, and the search for happiness in the context of modern relationships and dating; blending elements of romance, mystery, and a touch of science fiction!
A really entertaining read.

I am not really sure what to say about this book that I have just finished. To be honest it is not really the sort of book I would go for although the blurb drew me in.
I did enjoy the characters, the ones that remained the same, The best friend and the bossy sister.
I did read it until the end as I really wanted to know how it would end.
As I said not up my street but I am sure it will be very popular as an easy and fun book to read.
I would like to thank NetGalley and Randam House UK, Vintage for the ARC for which I have given my unbiased review.

Lauren returns home from a wild night out to find a man she has never seen before in her flat, claiming to be her husband. Her friends and family confirm this, and she has photos of and texts from him. When he goes up to the attic, he disappears and is replaced by a different husband, and this continues to happen. Each time, Lauren’s life changes- her job, her relationship with her sister aand friends, even whether her nephew and niece have been born. The husbands all have their own quirks, personalities and foibles- some get sent straight back to the attic for exchange, others Lauren keeps for a while, others she begins to imagine a life with. But as the husbands keep coming, things get more complicated, and an increasingly exhausted Lauren starts to wonder if she should just settle down with one- but which? An unusual and funny novel which takes a satirical look at the problems of finding “the one” and of building a happy life with a partner, the difficulties of having too much choice (or not enough) and the way those choices can affect the outcomes in life. The baggage that each individual brings to a relationship becomes evident, and Lauren begins to realise that she can’t always control what happens with each new husband. A thought-provoking and very entertaining read.

I’ll admit my expectations weren’t high but I was really pleasantly surprised. A very likeable lead, with just enough peril in the story to keep the pages turning. While the central conceit was fantastical, the underlying theme was incredibly relatable.

The high concept premise of The Husbands conceals a very perceptive novel about relationships and why people end up with the people they do. Also, what about the concept of the one, or the one that got away? It’s clever (but not clever, clever), funny and rewarding.

A wonderful read a book that kept me shaking my head as the attic keeps producing husband after husband for Lauren shocking her since as far as she knows she’s not married.A wild ride so many husbands so many personalities so much confusion so much fun.#netgalley #husbands

Unfortunately I was unable to read this book on my mobile. What a pity!!!
I wish you lots of luck with the book.

Really enjoyed this light but well written story that was lots of fun but still rather gripping. Fully recommend

Holly Gramazio's debut novel is witty, funny and heartfelt. She tells Lauren's story of multiple husbands that keep appearing in her attic with an amusing eye for the real world and relationships. The writing is light but intelligent and kept me gripped to the very end.

An entertaining and unique high concept that is great fun and deftly executed, with a great sense of pace and humour.

I wasn’t sure this was for me initially but as I kept trying just one more page to see if I could ‘get into it’, I realised I wanted and needed to keep reading! Lauren finds she has potentially an endless choice of husbands if she wishes to keep trying to find The One but when should she stop, how do you know you’ve reached ‘perfection’ .. if that even exists? The sheer choices – wealthy, physically attractive, attentive, boring, dull, hairy, annoying. It’s an interesting read with a few unexpected twists along the way. Generally an enjoyable read.

When Lauren returns home to her flat in London late one night, she is greeted at the door by her husband, Michael. There’s only one problem—she’s not married. She’s never seen this man before in her life. But according to her friends, her much-improved decor, and the photos on her phone, they’ve been together for years.
As Lauren tries to puzzle out how she could be married to someone she can’t remember meeting, Michael goes to the attic to change a lightbulb and abruptly disappears. In his place, a new man emerges, and a new, slightly altered life re-forms around her. Realizing that her attic is creating an infinite supply of husbands, Lauren is faced with the conundrum- if you can always get a new man how do you know which is the right one?
This started so promisingly! We are confronted with the first husband straight off the bat and get to work out what is happening along with Lauren. We don't have to wait for action and things get ridiculous very quickly.
But then as the novel settles down and the rotation of men slows we get to see more about how this is impacting Lauren and her reasoning for switching.
I think it was at this point that it started to break down. We were only given sparse details about each man and the differences each one had brought to her life which had been the defining interest in the first place.
Lauren didn't really change as the novel progressed and it all became very one-note.
I wish we would have seen more character growth from Lauren or at least something more with the attic. I also felt that the ending was a bit of a letdown.
I still think it would make for an interesting movie.

Brilliantly original, Holly Gramazio's book is a time-bending story of continuous choices, multiple possibilities and a trouble with finding the one good for you. Main character is Lauren, whose attic produces new husbands for her. Every time a husband goes up, a new one comes down. But which of them is the best? And who can guarantee that the real catch does not wait one attic away?
I was instantly drawn to this story because of the sheer amazing concept of it –I loved both the idea and the execution. The characters were flawed and believable, and perhaps because of that the book was very engaging. Who doesn’t wonder if the grass isn’t greener somewhere else? Think about this book as a cross between The Time Traveller’s wife and The Groundhog day – there is a humour in it but there is also a vulnerability of the unknown and love and affection. Altogether, a great book, I am looking forward to recommending it to everyone!

Fantastic premise for a book- a revolving loft hatch of husbands who exist in every world but are just not always married to Lauren in the world she occupies.
Lots of humour, lots of wholly unsuitable husbands and lots of tension as Lauren tries to find out how much else of her life may be different outside the flat!
I loved the characters, the descriptions (some so very brief) of the husbands and the decision making process she reaches about how and when to stop the merry go round.

Inventive, funny, readable and with a point to make!
Lauren lives a good life with her neighbours Toby and Maryam and her close friend Elena but when her attic starts generating husbands, and creating endless multi-verses for her to live in with them, then the fun really starts.
It’s a brilliant conceit because it plays on notions of perfection and, if you can just ask one husband to check for a noise in the attic, there’s another coming along.
Of course, that’s entertaining and distracting for a while but there’s no going back and it’s unlikely that any man is perfect – which produces any number of situations for Lauren.
Sometimes, the husbands are wealthy, sometimes they have good taste, sometimes they smell good and have nice bodies, sometimes she is in a universe where her friends are thriving and, always, she has marriage photos to look back on and even in-laws!
There are a couple of unexpected twists in the plot to help move things along as well as a twist in the tale at the end. It’s a great read!

An interesting plot set up. A glitch in the matrix means that every time someone goes up into the attic a new husband comes down.
Sometimes this is a good thing and sometimes not, leaving the heroine to struggle to know what to do and who to choose.
It poses interesting questions on fate and choice.

A great story with so many twists and turns in it! It made me laugh at points as well as feeling sad. Overall a good book with a different twist.

This book felt very different to me, which is good as it stops things being too predictable. For this reason I really enjoyed it.

Unexpected, funny, disturbing, romantic, and catalyzing.
If I had to describe The Husbands by Holly Gramazio, I would use these adjectives. In my opinion they fit the story like a glove; of course, this is my personal opinion.
After a party, Lauren returns home and greeting her is her husband Michael. Only she is not married, but according to their friends, they have been together for years.
The problem arises when Michael comes up the stairs and in descending them he is a completely different person. Still her husband.
At first, I admit, I was confused by the story, a bit like Lauren.
As I went on, however, I became engrossed in the "mystery."
It was an interesting read, different from the usual rom com, however, in my opinion a bit too long-winded. Some parts were not at the end of the story, however I still recommend The Husbands if you are looking for something different.

My first book by this author. I really liked the sound of this one and I'm happy to say I really enjoyed reading it! What an original and refreshing plot which had all the elements of a romantic comedy in it! We meet Lauren who comes home after a drunken night out to be greeted by her husband Michael. Lovely, you might think...but Lauren isn't married and doesn't know who Michael is!! We then find out that Lauren's loft hatch appears to be some husband-producing portal where when the current husband goes up into the loft, he comes back down as a completely different one!!
This story had me hooked from the beginning. Once Lauren had got over the confusion of what was going on, it was fun watching her send the husband back up into the loft when she was faced with one she didn't really like! I liked Lauren's character, but did find that she was a little shallow when it came to picking which husband she would keep for a while - some didn't get to chance to utter a word before they were sent back up! But if I'm being honest, if I was Lauren, I'd probably pick the good looking ones too!!
The storyline flowed along at a good pace. I did however get a little confused later in the story when another character appears who gives a different view on what was happening! It was easy to read and fun throughout though, with some romance (and sex scenes!) to complete the story! Loved the idea, enjoyed the story, would recommend!
