A poignant look at the highest highs and lowest lows. These poems span time and life phases, making them relatable at every turn.
Tinder for my Housefire is a plain-spoken poetry collection accentuated by clever turns of phrase and musings on everything from mental illness to divorce to the loss of a parent. As is so often the case with poetry, the book settles into a depressed tone early on, and it doesn't tell a straightforward story, with different poems narratively at odds with each other. Yet Tinder for my Housefire is both unpretentious and relatable, and should appeal to anyone going through a hard time.
I really enjoyed this. As a poet myself, I am a huge fan of poetry collections, especially those centred around mental illness. The poems were stunning and really touched me. I’m excited to read more from this author because I believe they have a very special talent. Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and publisher for giving me a chance to read and review this book.
"We look up at the stars to avoid looking
at each other and at ourselves
Discovering planets and galaxies
Is far easier than realizing our own fars and pain
Dreaming of the future for mankind
Is preferable to being kind to man"
--Excerpt from "Telescope"
Tinder for My Housefire is a great collection of poems that deal with mental health, domestic abuse, regret over lost love, and so much more. I was blown away by a lot of these poems. It's a bit of a tough read since they all deal with tough topics, but so relatable and I highly recommend this collection of poetry!

A striking poetry collection that delves deep into the complexities of life and emotions. Fritsche's words are like a symphony of feelings, taking the reader on a journey through love, grief, mental illness, and ultimately, hope. The poems are a beautiful blend of raw vulnerability and lyrical grace, offering a powerful reflection of the human experience.
Wow, just wow! Tinder for My Housefire by Cassie Fritsche is a poetic masterpiece that speaks straight to the heart. From the very first page, I was hooked by the emotional rollercoaster of life, love, grief, and the glimmer of hope that shines through it all. Fritsche's words are like a comforting friend, wrapping you in their warmth and understanding. If you've ever felt lost in the labyrinth of your own thoughts and emotions, this collection is your lifeline. It's poetry that doesn't require a Ph.D. in literature to appreciate; it's for everyone who's ever felt, loved, or hoped. Don't miss out on this treasure!
I really enjoyed reading this collection of poetry as it had many intense and relatable themes throughout.
This was a collection of beautifully written, deep and powerful poems, with themes such as love, grief and loneliness. As is often the case with poetry, these poems were ambiguous and open to interpretation, but I felt very connected to them, and I felt they spoke to me. Maybe not everyone appreciates poetry or it doesn't appeal to everyone, but I really liked these.
