Heartsong by T.J. Klune is a deeply emotional and powerful exploration of trauma, healing, and the transformative power of love. Robbie, whose past is marred by horrific abuse, is a complex and compelling character. His journey toward healing is painful to witness, and as a reader, it’s impossible not to feel frustration and sorrow at the extent of his suffering. The weight of his past is crushing, and you can’t help but wish he could have experienced love and safety much earlier in life.

At the heart of Robbie’s story is his slow-burn romance with Kelly, a fellow pack member. Kelly’s love for Robbie is gentle, patient, and unwavering, providing Robbie with the safe space he needs to begin trusting again. Their relationship isn’t just romantic but a journey of emotional growth, where Kelly helps Robbie heal and embrace the possibility of happiness. Watching Robbie allow himself to be loved is both heartbreaking and beautiful.

Heartsong is ultimately a story about redemption, love, and self-acceptance. Robbie’s pain is intense, but his eventual happiness with Kelly is deeply rewarding. Klune crafts a character who feels incredibly real, and while his past leaves readers frustrated and heartbroken on his behalf, his journey toward healing is a powerful, unforgettable experience.

🐾Heartsong - TJ Klune 🐾
(Ad - pr product) blog tour

The third book in the Wolfsong, Green Creek series, starts with Robbie having nightmares, dreams that don’t make sense to him and I’ll be honest, I was completely confused for a while !
Robbie is living in the compoundTThe of the Alpha of All, Michelle Hughes, he is her second, in a trusted role, he has his witch Ezra and all is good … isn’t it?!
Robbie and Ezra are sent on a mission to a pack, a family pack with children, he is there to check why they have distanced themselves from Michelle. He assures them that nothing is wrong, they just need to communicate and toe the line. They are a bit hostile but do invite them in for dinner and provide a barn to sleep in. The whole time he’s there Robbie feels off, unsettled, but he fully believes that he is helping packs on his missions. His Alpha and witch surely wouldn’t lie to him.
The Alpha from the family contacts Robbie and wants to meet him, they meet on a bridge and are ambushed by a pack. A pack that claims he lived with them, worked with them, is mated with one of them (Mark-brotherfriendlove-packpackpack) that can’t be true, surely he’d remember right?!

Another fabulous work of art from TJ Klune, the Green Creek series is so gripping, entertaining and just so beautifully written.
The Bennett pack have my heart completely through and through and I can’t wait to read the next book, Brothersong. I really hope we get some more books 🙏🏻

TJ Klune has quickly become one of my favourite, auto buy authors. His way with words is truly captivating, you are pulled in under his spell.

You like like fantasy this series is a must read!

I have loved every single book in the Green Creek series so far and I was so excited to get back into TJ Klune’s world of wolves, pack and family. I love the way Klune writes and this book feels exactly the same as the others in the way it will wrap around your heart as it breaks and stitch your heart back up at the same time. There is so much love, grief, laughter and heartbreak in this novel but I still did not want it to end.
All of the Green Creek books are told from a different perspective; first we had Ox, then Gordo and now we have Robbie. At first I wasn’t sure if I was going to enjoy Heartsong as much because even though I love every member of this pack and almost every character in these books, I wouldn’t say that Robbie was one of my favourites. However, this story completely changed my mind as the reader gets a much deeper understanding of his character and his feelings all from his perspective.
The beginning of the story is actually quite confusing and I wasn’t sure what was happening but it all made sense soon enough (and probably would have made sense sooner if I remembered what happened in the previous book) as the missing puzzle piece was put into place. I loved seeing everything from Robbie’s perspective because out of all the characters, he is one of the more recent additions to the pack which gave him and the reader more of an outside look at the pack and events.
I also really liked to see the development of Robbie and Kelly’s relationship throughout the book and how they basically have to rebuild right from the bottom due to an event that becomes clear the further you read. Their relationship has lots of ups and downs and there is so much angst as they get to know each other again but like with every love story in this series, it is so beautiful, strong and intense and I just love Klune’s detailed and stunning character development. I also loved the asexual representation with Kelly in this novel as there are not many stories with this rep when there should be.
So much happens in these 500+ pages that I really struggled to be able to put the book down in any place without feeling the need to read on immediately. There is lots of action and drama and I laughed and cried in equal measure throughout. The ending had twist after twist and my jaw actually dropped after some reveals which were absolutely crazy!
You’ll think that you’ll be able to put this book down whenever you want, I thought the same. But you can’t and it will take over your life from start to finish. Reading this book felt all consuming and yet not enough simultaneously. Even when I wasn’t reading it, I was thinking about it and wondering what was going to happen next. Do I want to be part of the Bennett pack? Maybe.
The paperback edition of Heartsong also includes a short story from the perspective of Elizabeth who is telling her grandchildren the story about how wolves were created. This is a fascinating story that gives some back story into the wolves and also offers an insight into the Bennett pack’s future.
I cannot wait to read the final book in the Green Creek series, Brothersong, even though I will probably be devastated that it is over. If you are a fan of fantasy and wolf shifters, this series is perfect for you!
Pack pack pack.

Back in it again with the Bennett Pack... or are we....

Robbie had a lot of tragedy in his younger years, and all he wanted was a place to belong, a Pack. So when he finds a place with Michelle, the Alpha of all, her old witch Ezra and their Pack, he couldn't be happier. He is warned about the Bennett Pack and how traitorous and dangerous they are.

However, some things aren't adding up and when a contact from a mission gives him a warning, Robbie starts questioning things as to whether the Bennetts are as evil as he has been told....

Robbie will have to dive deep into what has he come to know, and what he may have forgotten, including Kelly Bennett.... who might just be his mate, so why can't he remember that....

I really enjoyed this story, maybe my favorite of the series so far. I love the Bennett Pack and their connections, and the story is just getting more and more high stakes as we go.

I cannt wait to read book 4 and see how the series ends!

These characters honestly feel like family and it pains me every time I find myself remembering they’re not real.

I’ll live out my days pretending Robbie, Kelly and the rest are real and are all living in Green Creek, Oregon doing wolfy things and working in a garage.

Some book series tend to get a kind of middle book syndrome, where it all feels like filler rather than a continuation of the story. What we have with Green Creek is a series that effortlessly picks up where it left off, following a new character each time in a storyline that feels familiar yet refreshing.

I’ll recommend these books to anyone who’ll listen, regardless of the inevitable pain they all inflict at some point!

It took me until 16% for me to realise what was going on 😂. It’s switched POVs again which I think contributed to it. I also struggled to work out what timeline we were on if it was before or after the events of the previous book. I love getting to see the story from different sides.

This one was definitely difficult to see who was telling the truth, who was lying and why. I preferred it to the second but I think that’s more due to loving Robbie’s POV and Ox’s more.

The humour is the same as the two previous so if you enjoyed them then you’ll like this one too. It’s a bit annoying how powerful robert livingstone is as a witch. I know they keep saying he’s got black or colourless magic but surely three others together are stronger? Or something could be done to get the extra power to take him down. He’s caused so much death and distruction across all the books and because of this power he’s been left alone. I think that’s a sign of how much it makes you invested in the characters though that it gets you really riled up and hating some of them!

Thank you to Pan MacMillan Tor and @netgalley for the advanced readers copy.

Heartsong by TJ Klune is the third book in his Green Creek series and I do think it is necessary to have read the earlier books, Wolfsong and Ravensong before picking up this one as an understanding of the history and unique relationships between the characters is key to getting the most enjoyment from this book. If you have already read these then you are in for a treat with Heartsong, though be prepared, you may need a tissue or two.
This book centres on Robbie Fontaine, a character we first meet in the second book. but it is hard to say much about the plot without spoiling the earlier books. The thing I have loved most throughout the series is the dynamics and relationships between the various members of the Bennett pack, and that was present in force in this book , and I love how the author uses comedy to lighten the tone and cut through the more emotionally heavy parts of the book.
I read and reviewed an ARC courtesy of NetGalley and the publisher, all opinions are my own.

I had forgotten just how much I love these characters. The endless bickering and banter, as well as the deep love between them all had me craving as much time as I could with the Bennet pack again and I could not put it down once we were back in Green Creek.
This series makes me feel such deep emotions without ever being cheesy, the tone is always true and right, but the humor is by far my favorite part. I found myself highlighting full pages that made me laugh so much and those were as numerous as the heartbreaking moments.
Although the beginning felt long, it was an essential set up for the rest of the book and I loved seeing Robbie find himself immensely. I can’t wait to see Carter’s journey.

I forgot to add feedback to this so sorry it's so late but as usual the author knocked it out the park with his continuation of this series and I just received the email for the next book so I'm so excited to start it too.

Another enjoyable installment in the series. I like the gentle pace, build of character relationships, the quirky humour--and all the feels when everything's in jeopardy. Looking forward to reading the next one.

This may be my favourite Green Creek book so far, and to tell you why may be a bit of a spoiler. So be warned I guess?

Robbie wants one thing. Just one. He wants to belong. But he’s never seemed to feel at home. His only friend is the man who took him in, when he was lost and alone. But even he can’t help fill the void that buries it’s way through Robbie’s heart. Still, life as the trusted right hand of the Alpha of Alpha’s is pretty swell. If only there weren’t so many suspicious things going on.

When Robbie is sent out into the world, he meets a child who shouldn’t be alive. And before he knows it, he’s questioning everything he’s ever been told. And what’s more, the Bennets are involved. Traitorous wolves, magical prisoners, suspicious deals, and painful truths are on their way. Robbie’s going to have a hard time sorting out what is even real.

(Now for the spoilers)
I never knew how much I loved a tragic magical memory-wipe trope. But dang if it ain’t both tragic and magic! As always I say that this series is like Teen Wolf but with gays (and a few more grown-ups), and as such is a little bit (extremely) corny at times. And that is the best part. Book three has a bit more heart than I was expecting but it is safe to say that I’m having a delightful time in this series and I am already keen for book four. There is nothing like soft wolf boys and hardcore found family.

This book is actually part of a series and I would definitely recommend all books need to be read in order. TJ Klune's imagination and representation in my opinion can not be paralleled. I really want to re read this whole series via audiobook.

My favourite TJ Klune book will always be Under the Whispering Door but these series is giving it a run for its money.

Additional, The cover art for this book is perfection and fits the story so well.

I have adored everything TJ Klune has written and this doesn't change with Heartsong. Captivating, magical, intense and joyous - the most gorgeous story (with a new STUNNING cover!)

Okay so in all honesty I should have read a recap at least of Ravensong before diving into this one, because for the first 150 pages I was SO confused constantly. I felt like I had completely forgotten the ending of Ravensong, because I could not understand why Robbie was where he was - which as it turned out was a part of the plot! But I wish I had had more of an idea of that going in, because I just spent so long feeling very baffled.
This series has one of the best found families I've ever read. Every single one of these characters makes you feel, and care for them deeply, Their bonds with each other are so precious and heartwarming, and TJ Klune does such a fantastic job of writing witty banter laced with affection.
This book is HEAVY and it is INTENSE. This is a very emotional story, with a lot of focus on Robbie's character development, and it is thoroughly overflowing with angst. The villains are very dimensional and you become completely embroiled in how much the protagonists hate them - TJ Klune has a real way of making you feel exactly how he wants you to.
Because of how I felt in the first 150 pages, I can't quite give this five stars, but it was another great installment in this series and I'm so excited for the conclusion in Brothersong!

The third in the Green Creek series, this time telling Robbie's story as he was taken away from the Bennett family and living with Ezra (the witch known by another name) and Michelle Hughes who is trying to be the alpha of all, a title that rightly should belong to Joe.

Magic has affected Robbie and his memories, so he must learn to remember who he is and what he meant to the people that were left behind. Will Ezra get away with his crimes?

I always love being back in Green Creek. I always say, when recommending this series to others, that I never knew I needed gay werewolves in my life, but I do and it's all sunshine and rainbows most of the time and pack, pack, pack...

This book follows Robbie who was one of the newest additions having been sent as spy back in book 1. Again we get klunes magical writing here and how wonderfully he writes relationships between characters and how their relationships grow and depeen and feel veryreal. You will feel a lot of emotions here and get all those new relationship butterflies. I also love the exploration of an asexual character. This was well done
You do get some humour too to lighten up the more serious moments which helps.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC.

TJ Klune's writing sucks you in completely from the first page and doesn't let go. The Bennett saga is quickly becoming one of my favourite series - the characters are so well written and the narrative pushes forward with such intensity it's difficult to put down. I also quite enjoy the way Klune chooses what might ordinarily be seen as side-characters to concentrate on rather than say, Joe or Elizabeth. Amazing rep for gay love too! If you love heart-wrenching love stories with a healthy dose of humour and a great plot, read these books!

The gayest werewolf pack in the world are back in the third instalment in this gorgeous, weird and mesmerising series!

Following on from the attack on Green Creek in book two, Ravensong, it's time for all out war between rival werewolf packs! There's been manoeuvring, dirty tricks, infiltrations, and things are really coming to a head now.

And it's this that makes the style of this book so surprising, so unexpected and so surreally gorgeous. You see, most of it isn't the kind of supernaturals at war narrative you'd expect if you were a fan of, say, Underworld. Or maybe Twilight, to be honest I haven't read Twilight and only have vague memories of the one film I fell asleep during. But I'm pretty sure they had supernatural creatures going to war and it was visceral and bloody and action packed.

Most of Heartsong isn't like that, it isn't like that at all. What we get instead is an intense and emotional psychological exploration of what it means to have an utter bastard of a witch get inside your head and fuck with your memories. From the start it's clear that there's something off. Robbie loses track of what he's been doing, where he's been, who he's met, even what day it is. It's quickly clear that something is off, but the true horror of it takes a little while to fully sink in. You see, this isn't the kind of villainy that does obvious, evil-laugh style nasties. This is the kind of villainy that convinces you that it loves you, that it needs you, that it's the only one there for you and those people out there, they don't love you, they don't need you, they weren't there for you. It's Mother Gothel, rather than the Wicked Stepmother. And it's all the more convincing and all the more evil for it. Honestly, this is the kind of nasty I absolutely love reading about, the mind manipulating, gas-lighting motherfuckers are just so bloody terrifying because you don't hate them and you can totally empathise with poor Robbie and see just how horribly he's being manipulated.

What follows is an exploration of what it's like trying to break that spell, and it's difficult and it's emotional and it's heart breaking at times, with little glimmers of hope thrown in. It's a tough road we walk with Robbie and it's a journey travelling it. And one of the beautiful things about this series is that each book features a different point of view character. I didn't care for Robbie much when I read Ravensong (and true confession time, I still haven't read Wolfsong though I went out and bought it after I blog toured Ravensong) but seeing his world through his eyes has definitely changed that. This series is so gorgeously written that it's hard not to love the main characters, however unlovable they may seem from the outside. I'm already looking forward to the fourth book, which spotlights Carter, a character I don't currently care much for, because I just know that will change and I am here for it!

Along with all the psychological trauma, there's a lot of romance, and it's almost all queer romance. I love how at one point the characters themselves joke about this and call themselves the most gay wolfpack in the world, to which Ox just says something like "I'm okay with that." It's something they embrace and it's a joy to see. There's this beautiful blend of family and pack and brotherhood and love and it all just seems to come together in everyone getting naked and piling together with pillows and blankets and it's gorgeous. There's also something particularly gorgeous about watching two people who already fell in love falling in love all over again. It's enough to crack my old, cynical heart. Robbie hurt a lot of people, and he's been so badly hurt himself. The healing is slow, and it is hard, but it gives one hope.

One thing I picked up on in my Ravensong review that is also very present here is the absolutely gorgeous use of scent and emotion and packpackpack mental links throughout the story. Werewolves communicate in ways that are incomprehensible to (most) humans and somehow this comes across really clearly in the text. It's strained more here, becuase of Robbie's broken links, and that's reflected cleverly throughout the novel. It's there but it's not the same, it's never fully explained because it's never fully explainable. It's part of the mystery and wonder and beauty.

The action does come too. There's a war brewing and everything erupts in grand style. And when it came, I don't think I was quite ready for how horrifying it would be. This is a series that bypasses typical horror tropes and finds new and quite horrible ways to get under your skin. And I mean that with utter praise and respect. It's brilliant, really, just how horrifying it manages to be without ever resorting to cheap shots and jump scares. It's psychological horror at its finest. As soon as I realised what was coming, I knew it would be hard to read and brilliant, and I was right on both counts.

Heartsong, it's surreal and it's beautiful and it's horrifying and I loved it!
