I absolutely adored the whole Green Creek series. When I closed Heartsong, I felt so sad that it was over (for now, I cannot wait for Lovesong !)
I loved this book the most of all the series, because the plot , the twists, the angst ! I spent half of the book thinking I knew when and who, then was completely bamboozled ! But in a good way !
Also his book was from my favourite wolf's point of view, which might be why it made me feel the most. I wanted to hug Robbie so often. I'd really like the members of the Bennet pack to stop hurting each other please, I don't think my heart can take more of it.
Speaking of favourites, Rico is still the absolute best, I love his relationship with Bambi, with Chris and Tanner, with Robbie ! If anything happened to him I would be so sad.
Wow, that book was incredible! I couldn't put it down.Loved the book! I'm obsessed with this series! It's so different from anything else I've read.
I think I'm gonna go ahead and call this my favourite book series. I love the characters and the way the stories are all interwoven and seeing the different characters points of view.
Heartsong is Robbie's story. When it opens he's living at the complex with Michelle Hughes and my assumption was that this had gone back in time to before he came to Green Creek. It soon transpires that this is not the case... He had been kidnapped and had his memory wiped. Having to fit back into the place where he clearly belongs but has no clue about was hard on him but he tried, bless him!
I just want to give everyone massive hugs, they go through so much trauma but they just keep going! Thanks to the extra twist near the end I'm extra eager for Brothersong to get released and read Carter's story, one of the characters that seems most together in the surface but the reality is otherwise.
This was my first time reading a book from the author but I am delighted to say I thoroughly enjoyed the story and I look forward to reading more books from the writer in the future
This was the third book in the series and it is set a fair few years later. i felt like I missed the family a lot in this one, it was a fair chunk before they even appeared. I enjoyed this and am interested enough to see where the series will take us next.
Most TJ Klune books make me cry, including the first two books in this series. Sadly Heartsong just bored me to tears, it brought nothing new to the table and felt like a rehash of the first two books. The endless smelling of colours and packpackpack has lost its appeal, feeling both overused and repetitive.
I am now torn as to whether I will continue with the series or not.
Was I prepared to get my heart ripped out and stomped on for the third time? No. I really should have expected it though, thanks TJ Klune. I always experience a mix of terror and excitement when going into a Klune novel.
This is Robbie and Kelly’s story. We begin with Robbie in Michelle Hughes’ settlement where he is her right-hand man on all important pack related things, but there seems to be something missing – the Bennett’s. It appears that Robbie has no recollection of the Bennetts and his important role in their lives. I was slightly confused at points while I found my footing regarding Robbie and where he fit into this new role elsewhere to Green Creek. After a pause I realized that Robbie had no memories of the last few years. He was almost robotic in his behaviours. As a reader there was no mention of the Bennetts for a long time and it was strange. This did go on for a while and my confusion remained until things were explained.
Robbie essentially had to be deprogrammed from the brainwashing he experienced and it was so emotional seeing Kelly desperate to get his mate back and once he did, there was zero recollection on their journey.
As always, Klune writes a heartwrenching novel. It’s always a pleasure jumping back into packpackpack and seeing how everyone is, regardless of the bombshells and emotional moments. As I said in my review for Ravensong, nothing will top Wolfsong and all the emotions I felt in the first book. I love reading these, but it would take a miracle for me to love another book in the series more than that.
The next book will be emotional as well, I can already feel it.
Book 3 of 4 in a werewolf saga.
I've really come to love the various characters in the Bennett clan, and with the awful scrapes they find themselves in, worry for their safety! If you've read books one and two, you know exactly what I mean.
This book follows Robbie who disappeared in a worrisome cliffhanger in book two. We see how sweet he is, but also how he's being manipulated too. We also meet other wolf packs in this one which is interesting.
These werewolves are the more modern type; able to shift when they want and our family are the heroes of the tale. Along with their human friends.
This book saw me through a very sad time and was able to distract me completely so thanks to Mr Klune, I appreciate it. I'm looking forward to book 4 and his other new release this year.
Hey. Hi. Hello.
I'm the first one that's surprised I don't feel like I can give this 5 stars. I love the Bennetts. This series has one of the best and most wholesome found families I have ever read, but there was something off in this book.
What I loved:
- The relationship between Kelly and Robbie being rainbows and sunshine and pure cinamon roll adorableness.
- The relationship between Carter and Kelly being better than any of the romances that could ever be written in this series.
- Elizabeth being a kind and caring mother one second and a badass queen the next.
- Carter Bennett being Carter Bennett.
- Thomas Bennett writing letters to his sons' future mates.
- The relationship between Robbie and Rico.
- The relationship between Robbie and Gordo.
- The relationship between Elizabeth and Jessie.
- Chris and Tanner being the best comedic duo.
- Ox being Werewolf Jesus.
- Tony and Brodie being cutie pies.
- Carter's video to Kelly.
- Fireflies and stone wolves.
- Me crying over the smallest things (Carter and Thomas, I blame you two in particular)
Why I can't give it 5 stars:
- The fact that it has been years since the end of Ravensong. This pisses me off. We deserved the original Robbie and Kelly falling in love story. We deserved seeing the relationship between Carter and the timber wolf develop. We deserved seeing Chris and Tanner learning to be wolves and Rico and Gordo making fun of them. We deserved seeing the pack struggle through Robbie disappearing. We did not deserve a time jump.
- There were no Bennetts for the first 25% of this book.
- Half the time it felt like this was more about Robert Livingstone and Michelle Hughes than it was about the Bennett pack.
- Joe is nowhere to be seen. After Wolfsong Joe’s character has had no purpose. Once Ox became alpha, Joe became unnecessary. It’s like he’s not even there. Same with Mark. I loved him in Ravensong but he spoke two phrases in this book.
- We deserved a Kelly pov.
- The plot. We all know that this series thrives on its characters and not on its very average plot. I mean, we're all here for the found family and the romances and not for the actual storyline, but weird decisions were made.
That being said, I love the pack with all my heart, I bawled my eyes out and I cannot wait for Carter's story.
TJ Klune can play with emotions, humour and creates great characters. It's the first book I read in the Green Creek serie but i had no problems in understanding plot or characters
I was hooked since the beginning and my attention never wavered as I was involved in the plot and the relationships between the characters.
There's a lot going on and there's a lot to love. Now I have an entire series to read
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine
The third in the series of the Green Creek novels this certainly does not disappoint. Told from the viewpoint of R0bbie Fontaine, the story follows from the ending of the previous book Ravensong. A novel of loyalty, love and belonging, but also of betrayal and revenge. I’m not going to give away any of the story line or give spoilers you just need to read this series. Werewolves, witches, plotting and power struggles this series has it all and I can’t wait for the next instalment. TJ Klune really knows how to pull on your heart strings. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ERC of this novel in return for an honest review.
I am not okay.
This book ripped my heart out. Chewed it and made me eat it again!!!!
Once again Mr Klune had me laughing and crying on the same page. These characters are just so special and heartwarming to read about and everything is just perfect
This story was both enticing and super emotional to read. I thoroughly enjoyed every second reading. Robbie was such a sweet character and I loved seeing all of his relationships develop along the way.
The writing in this book was truly dynamic and easy to get drawn in to.
I hadn’t read any of the previous books in this series before this, so there were a few times where I was a little lost in context but overall it held up as a standalone story too.
I very much look forward to reading the other books in this series.
Thank you to NetGalley and the author for allowing me the opportunity to read this.
This book is as heartbreakingly beautiful and packed with feeling as its predecessors, if not more. The beginning goes from confusing to foreboding very fast, and once the reality of what's happened starts to sink in, it's impossible not to hurt for both Robbie and the rest of the Bennett pack, especially when a quite devastating truth comes to light. But in the midst of all the anguish and pain and despair, it radiates so much love. Amidst all the blue, there are bursts of green. And there's grass and lake water and sunshine. And a lost little wolf who's had everything taken from him trying to figure out who the enemy is and where he belongs.
I loved everything about this book. Every single word in it. Green Creek and the Bennet pack feel like home to me at this point, and I can't recommend this series enough.
I hate that every book in this series has made me sob. T.J. Klune's writing is amazing and unbeatable, and has definitely made him an auto-buy author for me.
Robbie Fontaine's back story has always been intriguing to me as he quickly become a character I love, he is absolutely precious and this book did not disappoint at all. As a sucker for found-family tropes, this book delivers! And ah him and Kelly are so adorable, I love them and its so nice to have a book focused on them going from the little snippets we see of their developing relatioship in Book 1 & 2.
This book will rip heart and then mend it, the twists and turns were really gripping for me and I am so exicted to get to Book 4 and equally gutted that this series is coming to an end for me soon.
[Thank you to Netgalley, Pan Macmillan, Tor and the author for providing me with an e-arc in exchange for an honest review.]
I love this series, and was intrigued to read Robbie's story. It didn't disappoint! A beautiful series with found family, love, and magic, each book is an emotional read that will stay with you for a long time. Highly recommend.
TJ Klune is an auto buy author for me and this series is just captivating and beautiful and heartbreaking all at once.
I loved this one as much as the first two in the series and I’m really looking forward to the next book.
TJ Klune. You absolutely nailed it again with this one. One of the lesser characters from the first book, Robbie, gets his own story. Many people didn’t have much of a connection to him but I wanted to know more. And here it is, Heartsong. Truly brilliant. If you have read the first two of the Green Crewk series then this is a must for you. Prepare yourself though. Klune doesn’t hold back and he is out there laughing and smiling about it. Please don’t let this series end.
Thank you to NetGalley and Tor for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
You know a book is going to be devastating when you can't even make it through the first chapter without full-on sobbing.
Listen, I love all of TJ's books but this one? This is my favorite. Robbie's journey is by far the most harrowing, emotional story I've read in decades. When I read the plot twist that TJ does in this book for the first time, I was so confused. Had I accidentally skipped a book? Did I not remember Ravensong the right way? But as the puzzle pieces fall into place, and you learn what happened to Robbie (and to our favorite Bennetts), you can't help but feel as lost, as confused and as genuinely distraught as Robbie does. I don't know how TJ made this an enjoyable story (because believe me, for every time I teared up, I also laughed) but he did. Somehow this is a pain I would willingly put myself through again just to spend more time with Robbie and be by his side.
Now, as I can't say much without spoiling anything, I'll just say two things: one, the asexual rep with Kelly is fantastic and made me feel incredibly seen and two, I dare anyone who says they don't get emotional to read the part about why/how Robbie started to wear glasses when his eyesight was perfectly fine. It will ruin you (but like, in a cool way).
Outstanding book with more heart than even the first two, if you're a TJ fan, you need this book in your life. But also, tissues. And maybe therapy after reading.
I've really enjoyed discovering TJ Klune's work and this is no exception! Heartsong firmly embedded itself in my heart with it's story revolving around Robbie. Who I must confess I wasn't super fussed on in the first two books but has certainly grown on me now! He goes through a rather heart-wrenching journey of self-discovery which is written in a very emotionally moving way. The author certainly knows how to weave the story together to pull on your heartstrings. Highlights in this book for me are his portrayal of love and family particularly found family which has been a central theme in this series so far and is also one of my favourite tropes. Moreover I really enjoyed the main relationship in the story too, it's a lot calmer and I saw someone else describe it as softer which I would definitely agree with. But it's still quietly powerful.
My only gripes I guess would be that the second half or even quarter of the book felt a little predictable though it still had me gripped! And something I've felt for both the first two books is that the writing style is just a touch repetitive for me.
Overall a really great third installment and I can not wait to get my hands on the next one!
Thank you Netgalley for this copy of Heartsong and my review will be posted on instagram in due course!
