"Safe is necessary. Solid is important. But I need cartwheels, too."

If you're looking for a swoonworthy holiday romance to read this Christmas, look no further! One Sweet Holiday by Lucy Day introduces Gwen Griffin, a baker and business owner from a small town in South Carolina, and Logan Fyfe, a Scottish millionaire hiding from his family drama for the holidays, renting Gwen's sister's house, right next door to hers. They're instantly attracted to each other, and Logan (who's initially in town for Gwen's sister Vicki's wedding) agrees to be Gwen's date, to ward off the matchmaking mother who constantly thinks she knows what's best for everyone.

The romance is delightful, the characters are hilarious, and I loved everything about this story! Gwen is stubborn and a perfectionist, and Logan is dead set on helping her relax and learn to delegate so she doesn't burn herself out. He's a total prince charming, insisting on taking care of her, and I adored him from the beginning! The families' drama brought tension and made the story interesting and dimensional, and I didn't mind that Logan didn't actually sound Scottish (aside from always dating "aye" instead of "yes").

A few things you ought to know about this book:
🩷 Dual point of view, with each chapter titled either "Gwen" or "Logan" to clarify which character we're following
❤️ First person narration - personally, my favourite, but I know lots of people don't like it
🧡 Present tense - again, a deal breaker for some people, though I personally like it
💛 Main characters in their 30s (though not mentioned much, so I kind of kept forgetting)
💚 Manipulative side characters
🩵 A wonderful friend group
💙 Fake dating
💜 Characters in denial
🖤 Small town rumours and gossip
🩶 An auction
🤍 A wedding
🤎 Happily Ever After

Thank you NetGalley and Blue Crow Publishing for this ARC in exchange for an honest review! It's ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 for me!

One Sweet Holiday brings all the feels hoped for in a romance novel with the delightful addition of some really good writing. Day’s skill shines in her cast of supporting characters and her talent for writing descriptions that at times made me pause to reread them for the sheer pleasure of her writing. She also nails conversation, which, imho, is a must for any recommendation. I definitely recommend One Sweet Holiday - it is a HEA with enough hints at spice to avoid being too saccharine, yet you can recommend it to your grandma.

Cute
Repetitive at times
Felt very familiar as though pieces of the story I've read before nearly word for word.
Overall ok.

This is a sweet, small town romance that I really enjoyed. Logan is such a patient and genuinely good guy, you can't help loving him. Gwen has things to work through and I was rooting for her to finally figure out how to let go of her fears and be her best self. These two coming together felt natural and is perfect for the reader looking for a closed-door romance.

Such a cute book! I loved how much a gentleman Logan is and how he fully supports Gwen! It’s a cute story, foreign billionaire comes to town and falls in love with small town girl who owns a cute cafe/bakery! A closed door romance with a lot of tension! Entertaining from start to finish!

Thank you to Blue Crow Publishing & NetGalley for this book. This has all the cute, cozy, Christmas vibes. A small town romance with over the top decor, noisy neighborhoods, a baker, and a neighbor from Scotland. This is such a sweet holiday rom com, from the Christmas parties, to the realistic family drama, to the busyness of trying to get everything done at the holidays. I’m excited for more books from this author.

Another holiday romance in the books!

Gwen owns a coffee shop and also is a rising baker in a small town. She’s taken up a lot: a lot of orders up through the holidays, her sister’s wedding cake and trying to manage her overbearing mother.

Logan is a guest to Gwen’s sister’s wedding and has traveled from Scotland to is looking to take some time and make a huge family decision. He ends up meeting Gwen who alters all his plans on figuring out what he needs to do with his family. Through some push from her sister, Logan agrees to be Gwen’s fake date for the wedding allowing her mother to back off of Gwen a bit.

I enjoyed Logan’s character. I loved how he was always a comfort for Gwen and knew how to take care of her. Both Gwen and Logan suffer from trying to find a balance in their own families. Gwen is a people pleaser so she tends to put herself last most of the time.

I really liked this book very funny. I was hoping for more spice.. but it was really cute. I enjoyed the playful banter and it was refreshing to have the characters be so honest

Such a cute, fun, closed door, festive rom com. I adore a small town romance. I loved both Gwen and Logan, and together they were such a good couple, with such great chemistry. And the Dual POV showing how they were both obsessed with each other from the beginning made it even better. Logan has definitely been added to my top tier book boyfriends list.

Cute romance about a baker trying to prove herself and learning to rely on people around her and a Scot trying to handle tense family issues and learning what truly matters in life. I enjoyed Gwen and Logan, and their sweet love story.

What an adorable and quick holiday read. The characters were absolutely lovely and I can’t wait to read the other two Jasmine Falls books.
Thank you to NetGalley and Lucy Day for the opportunity to read this wonderful ARC!

Many thanks to NetGalley and the Publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

2.5 stars.

Cute idea, but there seemed to be a lot of repetitive filler without much substance. The MC has a lot of self esteem issues and constant negativity. The male lead seems great, but the insta love was a bit much. Christmas was thrown in there, but quickly forgotten. Then the end wraps up super fast with some lingering questions.

When Scottish billionaire Logan Fyfe escapes to small town Jasmine Falls, South Carolina to clear his head from family drama, he quickly becomes smitten by his neighbour and local bakery owner Gwen Griffin. The two neighbours make a deal to fake-date until Gwen’s sister’s wedding to help Gwen dodge her over-bearing mother’s attempts at matchmaking. But as they spend more time with one-another, they begin to realize they may have caught feelings. Can two people from opposite sides or the world and completely different backgrounds make it work as a couple?

You’ll want to pick up this new sweet, Christmas-themed novel by Lucy Day this holiday season. The small-town setting gives classic holiday vibes and has just the right amount of love and spice. Enjoy!

One Sweet Holiday but Lucy Day is a cute rom-com just in time for the holiday. Gwen Griffin has recently broken up with her cheating fiance much to her mother’s dismay. Now her sister is getting married and Gwen has to face the wedding with no date. Enter Logan Fyfe an extremely rich and good-looking Scotsman who is surprisingly wise and centered.
This was a mix of opposites attract and fake love becoming real love. A cute heartwarming story read in front of my Christmas tree. I want to thank Netgalley and Lucy Day for this ARC.

I always love a good fake dating romp especially for big events like weddings in small towns! This is a perfect cute romcom for the holiday season and who doesn't like a sexy scottish man as their fake date! It had a very hallmark romcom feel!

This was perfect, very festive, great chemistry, Gwen and Logan are so cute. I loved the family dynamics, they gave the story some more interest rather than just purely focussed on the relationship aspects.
