The hangover plus bridesmaids, Yes sign me up! Hilarious!

This book tells the story of Kate, who is set to marry Norman. For her hen, Kate and her three friends set off to Las Vegas, here she bumps in Trevor, an old flame. After one to many, Kate finds herself married to none other than Trevor. Problem is, Trevor refuses to sign the annulment papers until she has 3 dates with him.

This book is hilarious, it is sarcastic, funny and great fun! I will admit, there were times I disliked the characters, however they did redeem themselves. Some faster than others.
Overall it was a fun, enjoyable and entertaining read.

Thank you to J.F. Murray, Netgalley and Pan Macmillan for a copy of this e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

I received an e-ARC from Net-Galley in exchange for an honest review. I did DNF this book at 60%.

I really tried to like this book - a cutesy rom-com like Bridesmaids and The Hangover? It sounded like a bit of me. Unfortunately, I was really disappointed.

To be honest, it wasn’t great from the get-go and I struggled to get through the first 10%. The sentences seemed too long and monotonous and as soon as the words “Where’s my hug?” came out of Normie’s mouth, I felt like throwing up. Murray has created two characters, Norman and Kate (FMC)’s mother, that are extremely unlikeable, as intended. Which is great. My main issue with them is that the FMC could not stand up for herself at all! Everything Kate said about Norman was negative; if the man has no redeemable qualities, why marry him? There’s dating down for fear of getting hurt, and suffering through a marriage to someone you don’t like at all. Her mother is portrayed as a pushy, misogynistic woman that is only happy when she’s getting her own way. Their first exchange is basically “I’m anxious”, “Your generation are snowflakes”, “I’m not sure I want children”, “You’re wrong, don’t be ridiculous”. Grow a backbone Kate!

Their friend group seemed like a tick list of stereotypes, and their “roasting” seemed to come from judging each other and describing each other in ways I could never imagine referring to my friends as. The corny modern references, one of the friends calling everything and everyone a “ride”, and the blatant homophobic comments in reference to the bisexual character, was too much for me.

Overall, this book had so much potential, but I think it just fell flat for me.

OMG This has to be the funniest book I've read in a very long time! It will have you laughing out loud from the very first page!!!!
Kate is the ultimate planner and has planned her hen weekend to perfection with an plan for every single minute they are in Las Vegas. All seems to be going ok until she bumps into her ex boyfriend Trevor, a famous Las Vegas DJ on their first night there.
After that night she finds out she is married to Trevor and the only way to get the wedding annulled is to go on three dates with him, with her wedding to dentist Norman just days away will she be able to keep the feelings for Trevor at bay and is she doing the right thing marrying Norman?

Kate and 3 friends go to Las Vegas for her hen party. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas - or does it? Brilliantly written, so many laugh out loud moments, Loved it .

Hm not the book for me. Once I’d read the first chapter I knew how the story would unfold. Entertaining but I’ve read books like it before

Hitched is a hilarious comedy which follows a group of 4 best friends on a bachelorette party to Vegas. Kate, siobhan, nat and chloe also known as the 4 lokos are reliving their youth with a wild weekend before kate marries Norman, the one who ticks all her boxes. Except when the weekend really does go wild, Kate wakes up already married. Except its not to Norman. Its to world famous DJ Trevor Rush, who coincidentally happens to be kates ex boyfriend who cheated on her. And Kate doesn't remember a second of it. But Trevor won't let her go so easily and makes Kate agree to 3 dates with him before he signs the annulment. Can Kate resist his smug smile and cheeky charm? Or will her heart fall all over again?

What a refreshingly hilarious book. I have not laughed out loud at a book for a long time but this really hit the mark. Siobhan has some of my favourite one liners and sarcastic comments I have ever heard. This group of girls is a comfort group for sure and makes us all remember the wild and wonderful stories of our youth. This is an absolute triumph and a great read to kick back and relax with.

Marry in haste, repent at leisure, is the exact opposite of Hitched by J. F. Murray
Have I mentioned that I loved reading this book? If not then I have been remiss.

It's a romantic comedy featuring a bachelorette party in Vegas that goes wrong. And the bride ends up marrying her first love instead of her fiancé. Can she get divorced in a week! Right the wrong and marry her actual groom to be? Or will she find out that her heart and alcohol consumption chose well?

Hitched is laugh out loud fun, that is no exaggeration. Be careful where you are reading in case you disturb the peace with your frequent howls of laughter. Characters are great, the dialogue is sharp, witty and so, so funny.

Whilst there might be stereotypical characters and plot devices here and there - meddlesome mum, ridiculous fiancé, and crack team of friends (all different and interesting), it all plays out well. Despite a fiancé whose wrong in so many ways. It's a romance after all. It might take a while to get the happy ending but there usually is one.

Hitched is a 5 star read. Do yourself a favour and give yourself a Valentine's Day treat. Publication day is the 15th of Feb 2024.

My thanks to NetGalley and Pan Macmillan for a digital copy of this book in exchange for a review.

I really enjoyed Fling so was excited to read this latest book from J F Murray. Kate is getting married to Norman and is heading off to Las Vegas for a hen weekend with her 3 best friends. While there she bumps into Trevor, an old flame who broke her heart years before. During an alcohol fuelled night she finds herself married to Trevor, who now wants her back and won't sign the annulment papers until she has been on 3 dates with her. The story is very funny if a little predictable, but I really didn't like the characters, especially Trevor!
Thanks to NetGalley for a preview copy.

Second chance romance? Las Vegas? Drunken night mishap? It all sounded so boring and done before. And it has been. But it didn't stop me loving this book! The characters were fun, the plot predictable yet comforting, and the message of never giving up on your dreams - no matter what they are - was a nice sideline. Not a literary masterpiece, but a great read.

I really wanted to love this book but there was just something about it that I didn't like. The writing was really good.

Ive just spent three days in Las Vegas on a Hen weekend with Kate and her three bridesmaids.
Kate used to be a fun-loving party girl, always up for the 'craic', until her heart was broken nine years ago, and she sought solace with controlling dentist 'non-descript' Norman.
Kates friends are determined to use the Hen weekend to bring 'the old Kate' back, to show her that she is just 'settling' for Norman, and to bring back her lust and adventure for life.: ' You can't hate yourself into loving yourself'..read it

This is a book that is pure fun and that’s clearly what it wants to be. Some scenes were out-right hilarious and it’s so easy to get absorbed and not have that quick flash of ‘wait that wouldn’t actually happen’. Funnily enough, I wasn’t a fan of the film Bridesmaids so I was pleasantly surprised to find I enjoyed this.

This was really funny. If I’m honest I didn’t love the very beginning- they’re definitely a louder and cruder crew than I would hang out with. BUT it was genuinely amusing and I loved the story line and the characters. Trevor was great, and Norman was a knob. I was so pleased that it ended the way it did and I loved the little locket story. Also really enjoyed the Las Vegas setting and all the fun the girls had- makes me wish I’d had my hen there! (With a black Amex…)

Loved this! The only thing I thought was that going to Vegas for a hen do was completely out of reach for most people, but I loved the story, the girls, everything! I’ve been to vegas before so it helped as I could place all the amazing settings. This is the second JF Murray book I’ve read through NetGalley- definitely recommend anyone to give his books a go!

Well its fair to say that this is an absolute hoot!

Definite Hangover vibes but for women and the fallout is immense. Chuck in an intriguing ex, clingy fiancé and some hysterical girl mates and you have the perfect pre wedding cocktail.

Some hilarious scenes, so comical, I was very ready to "feel the rush"!

Pure escapism, total chaos at times, and just the holiday I needed. Sublime.

I was stupidly apprehensive about reading this book because I loved Fling so much, and it was probably my favourite book last year.
However, Hitched was just as special and I loved every page.
I feel like I’ve been to Vegas and back again. The characters drew me in and I laughed, cried and lived every page. It reaches out and gives you a big hug and will make you smile.
You need to read this book, it is truly amazing and more than worthy of 5 stars.

I could not put this book down. It was the perfect read to unwind with in the evenings after a long day.

The friendship between the girls made this story for me. I loved the brutal banter between them. It’s been a while since I’ve laughed out loud at a book, but this book had me giggling. There are scenes that I will be thinking about, and sniggering over for a while.

I liked the chemistry between Kate and Trevor and the fact they weren’t overly gushy with each other and just had fun sold their relationship.

This was a fun, mad, Vegas adventure and I will be reading more books by J. F. Murray.

Hitched was brilliant! Trevor was an absolutely gorgeous character and the girls were hysterical! I especially loved the eyebrow shaving!
Hitched was very romantic, I really didn’t want it to end and I was behind the main characters all the way!
