I actually like the second book better than the first! There was a lot more of Morgan and Draven and the story finally made some progress.

Thank you NetGalley and Briar Boleyn! I started the first installment in December and literally needed this second book! The first book grappled me and this next installment did not disappoint!

Morgan and Kairos are main focal points but you definitely get a taste of some of our favorite steamy tropes: he falls first, touch her and x, forbidden romance, enemies to lovers, one bed trope… There’s a lot that unravel in this installment.

The adventure of this book is worth the push because the development of characters is great here. The twists and the turns and the betrayals kept me on the edge of my seat.

Boleyn writes the fantasy romance adventure in such a way that is a little different than the first book but still definitely worth the read. You’re really seeing some more deceit, hidden agendas, and outstanding character development. I think it was a little slower paced compared to the first book. I definitely enjoyed reading this book and I cannot wait to read the next.

I really enjoyed book two! Book two might be my favorite, hard to say though.
I love how it did not immediately start where book one ended which left the reader guessing. This book leaves you on a small cliff hanger too, which left me jumping to start Book three immediately.

As for the characters Morgan was starting to get on my nerves towards the end, unfortunately. But I think that is because I am team Draven.

I still am enjoying the different characterization of the fae in this series! Usually the fae are always beautiful and perfect with few flaws if any. Whereas, this series, the fae have claws, horns and scales or tails! And they are able to regrow horns when chopped off (at least there is one specific fae who can).

The spice level definitely picks up in book two, it is still nothing crazy but I was pleasantly pleased with the amount as I prefer the plot to be stronger than the spice.

Creative world building that isn't the typical kind of world building you see in romantasy books, which was great. More or less a Camelot retelling with fae?! Sign. Me. Up. I really enjoyed the character development and am a total sucker for a slow burn. So there was a lot about this book I really liked. But what I liked the least and ultimately affected the whole story was the immaturity of the FMC. I'm all for a character growth arc. So had she matured over the course of the 400 pages of this book I wouldn't be complaining but she stayed stagnate in that particular character flaw.

Court of Claws is a good fit for those seeking a captivating, intense, and immersive fantasy romance that explores the complexities of enemies-to-lovers and Fae lore, with a focus on the main characters' emotional journeys and their entwined fates.

We had some improvements here compared to the first book, so I applaud that! Pacing was much better.

I will say that the FMC irritated me a lot in this one. I just couldn’t understand the reasoning behind her actions and it pulled me out of the story.

When I requested this book I was unaware that it was apart of a series, one that requires you to read the previous books for this one to make sense. I am unable to read all the previous books along with this one before the publish date. Therefore, I will rate this a fair 3/5 stars and will adjust the rating and review when I am able to read all the books in the series along with this one.

My favorite part of sequels is when they pick up right where you left off at the end of book 1. You are so heavily invested and immersed that starting in a different time can sometimes be jarring or remove you from the immersion. Well Court of Claws picks up right where you left off.

Morgan and Draven are in his court and Morgan now has to pretend to be Draven's paramour. (Anything with a semblance of fake dating will automatically get me hooked!) There is a lot Draven needs to explain and answer to but the two have lots of other things on their plates. I really enjoyed that the author has continued to keep pacing so well through the second installment and getting to see the relationship between the two main characters throughout this one is even better than in the first book.

You definitely don't want to miss this one!

A great find for those that are fans of Iron Flame and want to dive deeper into the genre of New Adult fantasy romance. I found this sequel just as complex and thrilling as the first and the anticipation for the closing novel is eating me alive.

I have read Queen of Roses and was absolutely loving this theme of story. I couldn't wait to read the next book, so I was very happy to be able to read the ARC. And just like the first book, this book did not disappoint.

The book continues where the first one stopped. Morgan and Draven are in his court and Morgan has to learn to live like his paramour. She's constantly fighting herself due to her feelings. This makes a very interesting point of view. I really liked that the story was based on the POV of Morgan ánd Draven. I liked the chemistry between them and loved how the story unfolded further in the book. There's a lot of secrets between the two and I really enjoyed how they unfolded and how it brought them together and then again, drove them apart. Somewhat like a cat and mouse play.

Anyway, I gave the book 5 stars and was lucky to have received the third book as an ARC too, so I immediately started reading that one. Because obviously I want to know what happens next!

We absolutely love to see the second book in a series go just as hard as the first.

Romantasy enthusiasts will LOVE to see the enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity, one bed, banter, touch-her-and-die relationship between our MMC and FMC (and the spice let’s be real). I loved the foreshadowing layered in and the twists!!!

I loved this book in the series. It was much faster paced and got straight into the action. I loved seeing them together and watching their dynamic grow. The banter was amazing and heated. I loved the action and the fantasy aspects in here. Can’t wait to see what else this series brings.

The second book in this series was overall so good. I am a sucker for a good fantasy romance and this was perfect. Although sometimes I was really annoyed with Morgan. The miscommunication and mistrust between Morgan and Draven was pretty frustrating at times. But I really liked diving deeper into Draven and his history. After that cliffhanger I am really excited for book three. Thank you so much for the ARC Net Galley and Briar Boleyn.

court of claws is book two in the blood of a fae series! this book begins shortly after book one ends. except, morgan pendragon wakes up and finds herself in a whole new place.

this place, the court of umbral flames, is the home of the siabra people. better know as, draven’s home court. morgan awakens alone in a room, and finds herself lost as to her current situation. she learns that draven is the prince of claws, and is holding her captive in his suite for the moment while attempting to build an image that the two are romantically involved with one another.

along the way, morgan meets a few side characters, one of them being a young boy named beks… who helps her to escape captivity for a moment and explore within the palace’s hidden tunnels!

i really really loved this installment and i'm so happy i picked up this series! i will definitely read the rest.

This book and series is just wow. I couldn't stop reading the first book and look forward to the next. The cover art drew me in initially as it is so pretty than the story. It is so descriptive, drawing the reader in from the first paragraph. From the details to the fine gowns, scenery and the lands in which the story is set in, To the descriptions of the characters and the developments of the relationships from familial ties to finding love.

I like how there is an initial recap to the story between each book before it continues. Highly recommend.

So much like the first book for me, this one started really strong and I sped right through the first half but it felt a bit repetitive in places and the second half just dragged for me.

I really enjoyed seeing the court of Siabra and all the court intrigue and how Morgan found her way through that and there were some great scenes between her and Draven but I just felt like something was missing and I can’t quite put my finger on it.

I will probably still continue the series just to see how it pans out because it is a really interesting set up and fae world that has been created but something about the story and the plot just kept it from hitting the mark for me. But still an enjoyable read.

Okay, I sped through this book because it just got better and better the more I read. This has been my favorite book of the first two. So many twists, I didn’t see happening and I love every single one. I honestly didn’t know what was real between Morgan and Draven but I was here for it all. Now I’m onto reading Empress of Fae because I NEED to know what happens next.
