Thanks to Netgalley & the publishers for the ARC! I recently had the pleasure of reading "Ten Little Ducklings" with my 4 children, and we all enjoyed reading it, especially my 4 year old twins. It was a great introduction to kids on different geographical homes and the animals that live there. I recommend this book to parents with both young children. Fun read!
A very convivial way to get young hands used to interacting with books – not so much holding them, just yet, but certainly pointing things out on the page based on some simple cues. Here we have ten delightful ducklings, and each spread sees a different scenario for them – in a hot air balloon race, at the seaside, trampling home after a fine day out… And each time we have one of the ten to spot. The very youngest reader will just manage to get them all pointed out, but the slightly older one will have learnt to recognise them from the name clues at the front, so they can specify which the target bird was, and then realise that there is a mouse each time we might want to locate, and perhaps more. Sometimes the target is just 'in hay' or suchlike, sometimes 'the highest' – and I think this could perhaps have stuck to superlatives so we get to learn those things, but perhaps I'm jumping the gun. For now this is still brightly colourful, a hundred per cent problem-free fun.
Ten Little Ducklings is a lovely rhyming book which is beautifully illustrated. It captures the little adventures of the ten ducklings. It is fabulous how the story involves the reader asking them to find specific ducklings that are doing something or wearing something.
Definitely recommend for parents of small children.
Beautifully illustrated rhyming story about ten little ducks. This is one of those books that children love to have read to them again and again
This is a beautifully illustrated picture book about a day of adventures for 10 little ducklings. They go swimming, explore in the jungle, play in the snow, have fun on a farm and have a birthday party.
The 10 ducks have personalities which come through on each page - watch out for poor Sam! The illustrations are fantastic - there are lots of details to look at with your child.
The book is 'hide and seek' - all 10 ducks are visible on each page - the text asks you to find a specific duck (in front/highest/eating cake etc).
I'll be adding a copy to my daughter's birthday list as it's not out in time for Christmas.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced ebook copy in exchange for an honest review.
Aw, this is gorgeous. Lovely rhyming couplets make it easier for little listeners to hear the rhyme. On each double page they are asked to spot a particular duckling... with the refrain 'I see you little duckling'.
A gorgeous sleepy ending makes this one perfect for sharing a bedtime.
Aki's illustrations are joyful
Heaps of fun and wonderfully engaging!

My six year old daughter read this book to me tonight, several times - she loved it!
The story was easy to follow and she liked that it rhymed.
She liked pointing out which duckling was always eating and finding that one on the pages.
It is 5 stars from Ava for this one - very highly recommended and lots and lots of fun!
