The narration was done really well for this book. It really felt like a performance as the narrator included a range of accents and tones that made each character discernable from one another and allowed the most to be made of TJ Klune’s captivating writing style. I quickly felt very immersed in the story and the narration only added to the experience. Overall, a cozy fantasy listen!

Thank you to NetGalley and MacMillan UK for granting me access to this ARC audiobook.

Having not read the first two books of the series it did take me a while to get into this and be honest that it's not really my type of thing but if it is then It's an enjoyable romp of a werewolf plot that explores family, love and what it means to belong.

Don't get fooled by the books in the background. Heartsong is nothing like TJ Klune's other books. I mean, okay there is found family, and lots of heart and heartbreak, and crying and laughing...but other than that...
TJ Klune makes me feel all the feels, and even though this Green Creek series took a bit longer, it still did the trick. Book 3 is Robbie's story, and then though I didn't think I would care for him - I really did. The start was confusing, but once you figure out what is going on, you're all in I promise. From that point it's all pack.pack.pack.
I'm not much for werewolves and the whole Alpha/Omega thing, but with Klune it's the humanity behind all it anyway.
As for the audiobook, I'm still not too fond of the narrator. For such an emotional story he's too matter-of-factly most of the time, and you have to work hard to listen past his voice for the emotions.
Still, I'm looking forward to read the next book in the series.

4/5 stars

Thank you @netgalley and @macmillan.audio for the ALC!

‘We don’t give up on pack, we never have, we never will.'

For as long as Robbie can remember Ezra has been his father figure, the person who he trusts and turns to the most. However when they go to visit another pack who have been out of contact with the Alpha of Alphas, a secret is revealed to him. This secret starts a series of events, leading to all Robbie knows unravelling around him

It was not clear that this was the 3rd in a series in the description provided by the publisher; so from the start I already felt like I was on the back foot. However, once I got to grips with some of the werewolf lore, I really enjoyed it. It might be helpful to know that each wolf pack seems to have at least one witch and sometimes humans, the omega wolves have violet eyes, alpha red and beta yellow, with a female always being the pack alpha. The Alpha of Alphas is the leader of all wolves and must be beyond reproach.

I thought this was really well written fantasy escapism with some great elements of magical realism. The emotional aspects of the book and the pack bond were great, the immersive descriptions of their senses really help you understand the wolves actions. There are quite a few characters, but once you understand them and their place within the pack, everything makes a lot more sense. If I had read this within the context of the rest of the series I would probably have enjoyed it more as there was a lot of world and character elements to work out at the start. I really enjoyed this and would definitely recommend to read it in the series order, for anyone that is into magical fantasy with LGBTQ themes .

The narrator is great and did a really good job of portraying the characters with individual character voices and emotion.

I adored everything about this, the writing, the narration, everything. Totally enchanting and another Klune triumph.

Cozy. Whimsical and escapism at its finest. TJ Klune is a genius. An absolute joy to listen to, so much so that I’m going to order the book!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Such a fabulous, whimsical and heartwarming series that keeps getting better with every book - with the perfect found family romance trope. The writing gets darker and more intense in this book but TJ Klune continued to thrill and immerse me as a reader.

Cant wait for the next book.

Had the pleasure of listening to the audiobook of this release, with thanks for the advance copy. A really enjoyable and gripping story that I couldn't stop listening to. Loving hearing more of the packs' stories.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

“packpackpack”

Each book in this series is through a different character viewpoint. Heartsong is through the eyes of Robbie - who we did not know much about, but throughout the book we discover who he is and his heartbreaking story of reclaiming his identity.

Each book in this series explores the themes of friendship and love and how to fully embrace one’s true self. As a reader, I experienced all the emotions with these characters and that is credited to Klune’s style of writing. Typical werewolf books portray them as monstrous, vicious creatures, but Klune creates his wolves with character and personality and the reader is drawn to their vulnerabilities. Tears were shed reading this book! Robbie and Kelly have my heart.

It feels so good to be back in Green Creek following the lives of the Bennett Pack. This is slowly becoming a favourite series of mine, the description and characters in this book allows the reader to become fully immersed in the world that TJ Klune has created, let’s just say emotions rang high with this one (just like every book in this series)
I cannot wait to read the next one!!

3.5 stars!!! This is true cosy gay found family urban fantasy. While I still love the first book the most with the pack coming together, I did like following Robbie's journey and the hardships he suffered while finding his mate and pack. Very curious to see how the last book will be. Overall the Bennett pack feels super homey even with all the stakes!

About halfway through reading this book, as I went to order a hard copy, I discovered that it was book 3 in a series. However, it didn't stop me from understanding and becoming lost in Robbie's story and the world he inhabits.
Robbie, second to the Alpha of All, has strange dreams and an ever-increasing sense of not quite belonging. As he is sent to investigate why a pack is refusing to check in, Robbie begins a journey - both emotional and physical - of discovering who he is and where he belongs.
This is an exciting, queer, found family fantasy story. At first, I felt like the story was quite slow and there was a lot of information I was trying to make sense of. I craved the odd, joyful banter of the quirky characters I have loved in other T.J.Klune books. However, I think this was because I did not read the first two books! The banter and those instantly-likeable characters did appear later in the story and, once they did, the story transformed for me. It went from an okay, this isn't too bad, to a I love these characters so much book. I then became instantly more invested in the story and I could not put it down. I'm now going to go back and read the first two books and I'm looking forward to the fourth instalment with Carter (who I love).
As an audiobook, the narrator did a brilliant job. The pace, tone and emphasis was excellent and the characters were distinguishable. The only voice I didn't like belonged to the character I despised so that was clearly the reason for it and worked well!
Thank you to Netgalley and Tor for allowing me an early listen/read in exchange for an honest review.

This part particularly focuses on Robbie who only needed one this his whole life - to be a part of the community, which Michelle gave him. Bennette pack, on the other hand, is together but missing something essential. Filled with wolf magic, witches and a song that sings in each one's heart, this tale takes you on the journey of the most difficult choices of life.

I have always loved reading this author's work and the Green Creek series has mostly been amazing. This is the 3rd book in this series and my expectations were set way too high for this book, I felt a little sad when I didn't feel invested enough in this story. The story is undoubtedly good, but the sparks of Book 1 needed to be included. I liked reading it, only wished it was less predictable.

I have listened to all the books in this series so far on audio and I’ve really enjoyed experiencing them in this way. I didn’t connect with the protagonist of the second book quite as much as the first so I was interested to see how I would feel about the third book.

Following one of the less central characters from the earlier book gave a completely different perspective on the story which added a lot of depth and detail I hadn’t expected. I found this book hit me emotionally probably the most of the three.

One of the elements I love from this series is the found family aspect, which is one of my favourite tropes and never fails to move me. This was particularly evident in this instalment and was one of the reasons it affected me so much.

The previous books in this series had some quite graphic sections scenes in them so I was expecting more of that in this book. However, one of the characters is asexual and this was dealt with really beautifully. I really appreciated the understanding and discussions about consent. The differing levels of sexual content between the books was entirely appropriate for the characters and felt like a brilliant way to express their sexuality.

A fantastic third instalment that has left me impatient to find out what happens next.

As with the previous books, the narrator was excellent.

I don't even know what to say. The perfection of this serie is definitely on point.
Every book is 5 stars (actually for me book 1 and 3 are 6 stars if it was possible), the writing, the plot, the relationships are spot on.

Heartsong it's so far my favorite and even if I LOVED Wolfsong and Ravensong this one was just better.

Thenk you NetGalley and Macmillan UK Audio for this advanced copy of Hertsong audiobook!
I loved every second of it and the production was amazing. I love Kirt Graves voice and how he manages to bring to life Klune writing.

The point here is that I didn't know I needed Robbie story, but eventually it was the best thing it could have happened.
Yes, I was interested in Kelly because the charm of the Bennetts but here Robbie made me fell in love with his sweetness and loyalty.

The plot was very new and I din't expect it. Robbie losing his memory and having to find his way back was such a nice way to explore his character.
Obviously we knew him from the previous two books, but here we discover how he thinks in a basic level, since he doesn't remember his life with the Bennet pack and Kelly.
Kelly was very sweet and patient. I loved how he loved Robbie, with all of himself. Their story was very sweet and sometimes it hurt a little, but it was also very heartwarming.

As I wrote in the previous reviews for this series, one of the strongest suits it's the found family vibe.

👓Gordo and Robbie and their older brother/younger brother dynamic really got me, and thanks to them I also cried a couple of times.

🔫Keeping it in the crying department Robbie and Rico were my absolute favorite in this book. Their friendship went through a lot but they found their way back to each other and I loved every second of it.
Also I'm sure that Ravensong and Heartsong would have been completely different without Rico! He is the comedic genius of the pack and he and Bambi never fail to put a smile on my face. He truly is my confort character.
Also here again, shoutout to Kirt Graves because he voicing Rico it's just perfection. The comedic time, the accent, I truly had a lot of fun listening to it 😂

Last notes.
- All the characters are amazing but in the past to books I was in a bit of an internal disagreement with Joe. When he finally asked for forgiveness to Robbie I was very pleased, because yes, he was becoming an asshole.
- Ox, Elisabeth, Jessie, Tanner and Chris will always be pack. I'm not living in Green Creek - and yes, I know Green Creek doesn't really exist, but it does in my heart - but I also felt seen by this amazing pack. An heterogeneous group of people that love each other unconditionally.

And now I can't wait for Gavin and Carter story! I know it will be good, probably amazing!

I really enjoyed this one. It’s so wholesome and cosy. I liked the world and the adventure elements. The characters were really likeable. I like the relationships between the characters and the LGBT rep was really good. I don’t think the fact that I haven’t read the first two books in the series hindered me in anyway. I listened to the audio and the narrator did a good job of bringing the story to life. Although I did did the audio a little on the slower side, I bumped it up to 3x speed and could have gone faster, but that’s just person preference. All in all, a cute read that I am going to have to backtrack and read the first two of the series.

An irresistible slice of escapism and a joy to read. Compelling, absorbing and highly entertaining. Fast-moving and fun! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is the third book I’ve read in this shifter series, but the first audio version. Kirt Graves does a wonderful job of lifting the characters from the page and giving each their own unique voice, which added a new dimension to this saga for me.
TJ Klune spins the wolves’ story ever closer to its conclusion, and in this book we join Robbie (following the events of book two) who is lost from the Bennett pack, but doesn’t even know it.
It’s equally as touching as the previous two. It felt longer to me, but that might have been because I was listening rather than reading, and because there felt like there were three distinct parts to this story (can’t really explain that without spoilers, so I won’t!). Having said that, it was full of action and the usual wolvish/human banter, plus the great LGBTQ+ rep you’d expect, right up to the epic battle scene near the end, where Klune still manages to keep you on your toes, even as you think it’s all over.
I’m already guessing who’s perspective we’ll read in book four, and I think It’s a fairly safe bet that we’ll hear from Carter Bennett.
I’ll definitely be picking that one up.
With thanks to MacMillan U.K. Audio and NetGalley for the ARC. Heartsong publishes on 1 Feb 2024.

This series, this series, I can't cope with how much I love it. The pack, the family, the love.

The Green Creek series is so wonderful and this book was a brilliant edition.

I will say that this book took me longer to get into than the previous two books, without giving spoilers we don't get the 'pack pack pack' vibe for a good 50% of the book which I missed, however I do think this book was beautifully done.

The audio narration was also brilliant, it was so easy to know who was talking and get lost in the story.

I cannot wait for Brothersong, I need it now!!

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the free eARC and audio ARC of this book.

Audiobook Review 🎧

Heartsong by TJ Klune - 4.5/5 ⭐

I have so desperately been trying to read this books since I read House on The Cerulean Sea, but like most, my never ending TBR makes it extremely difficult. So when the audiobook came to NetGalley I JUMPED at the chance.

The narrative was absolutely amazing, it wasn't dull and boring. The narrator kept me focused and engaged on the story. It's was brilliant.

I thoroughly enjoyed the story behind the wolves, it is so beautifully written and cannot fault it. The story contains actions, unexpected events and a beautiful love story. I absolutely adored it and I am grateful to have the physical version sitting on my shelf.

Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan UK Audio for allowing me to read this ARC - this is an HONEST review from my own personal opinion.

Robbie does not remember his past, Ezra saved him or so he believes. He was once part of a Pack who pledge to find him, save and protect him.

A well written and well narrated novel (l listened to the audiobook). These wolves have great individual personalities and respect their Alpha. Lots of action, twists and turns. Danger comes in many guises and love is very important.

Enjoy a good read.
