I found the beginning of this book slow going, but that could have been because I wasn't feeling well when I started it. Once the plotline was established and I knew more about the characters involved, the pace picked up and I read the second half within a day. There were a lot of suspects and although at one point I suspected the actual murderer, I had changed my mind and had been convinced it was someone else entirely by the end, but I won't spoil the ending!

This one was an amazing domestic thriller with lots of twists and turns. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this arc. This was a new author to me, but I really enjoyed the plot and trying to figure out who did what, and I was shocked at the end!

This book hooked me from the beginning. I read it in one sitting. It had the perfect blend of love, hate and forgiveness.

My first impression of this book was I'm going to like this! I was into the book right away, and I think any reader will be quickly drawn into the story. It has 2 different timelines, but it is done in a way that is not confusing.
(Trigger warning for anyone who has experienced an affair and its emotional fallout)
This was a book that I did not want to put down, and couldn't wait to pick it back up!
There are so many twists and turns. This story kept me on my toes, and I thought I knew the answers, but the twists always got me! I love a book that is not predictable.
The book is well written and played like a movie in my head. I do think there were too many twists, took away from the story just a little. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys thrillers or psychological thrillers. Or anyone who just wants a thrilling read! 4.25 stars

Whew! Where do I start! First, let me say that this book is wonderfully written. I loved the author's style of writing. I was hooked from the very first page. Aaron and Paige appear to have a wonderful life but here comes Ms. Cara! It's always that one person who seems to mess up everything and Cara is definitely her. BUT, the twists and turns throughout this book definitely made for an awesome read. I NEVER would have guessed the ending. I didn't figure out who one of the culprits were until almost the end, but even then, I still didn't have it figured out! Talk about a whirlwind of shocking emotions. That ending though! You just have to read it for yourself. It's really good. The book would have ended well without that last chapter, but it does add to the twists of the story.

Page turner for sure, when I thought I had things figured out something else was thrown into the mix. The Ending was even a great surprise!

I received a complimentary copy of this book "The Perfect Affair" and all opinions expressed are my own. I downloaded the book, started reading and then I was approved for the audiobook. I definitely think the audiobook held my attention more. I did not like the narrator though. I felt that there was so much going on in the story and quite a lot of characters, which made it complicated. Not sure that I agree the title fits the story. So I was glad it was an audiobook since some parts dragged a bit and overall hard to keep up with everything going on. Overall okay but not recommended.

I received this book as an advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest review.

I originally thought this would be a regular, run of the mill thriller that I wouldn’t remember after I had read the last page but it was everything opposite to that.

The characters were well developed throughout the story. I felt as if they were all people I knew in my real life and I found myself cheering some of them on and really hating others. As the story developed I changed my mind about some of the characters and felt I understood them more as the book unraveled.

This is a story about cheating in a marriage. It is the story of several worlds turned upside down. It is a story of a missing person. But it’s so much more. I loved this book more than I imagined I would and I would highly recommend it to any of my reader friends and family.

I can’t wait to read more from Angela Henry and want to thank the publishing house for allowing me this opportunity .

Thanks to Storm Publishing, Angela Henry and NetGalley for giving me this arc in exchange for an honest review.

When Paige Nicholas meets her husband's new colleague she instantly knows they are having an affair and Cara Morton seems to enjoy flaunting their romance.

Determined to fix her marriage she believes her husband Aaron when he says he'll break things off but then Cara makes an accusation about Aaron that threatens to end his career as a college professor. Paige stands by her husband, but doubts creep in. Is Cara telling the truth? Or is this all part of her dangerous game?

Then Cara Morton disappears without a trace.

Paige knows her husband can keep secrets. She’s keeping dark secrets of her own. But is he a killer? The police seem to think so. But they don’t know Cara. They don’t know about her past. They don’t know what she’s capable of…

A great reason why I enjoyed this book so much was the author's writing style. Although some of the sentences were short, the characters were flawed but we could understand them and it was a rollercoaster of emotions that I could not put down.

I really liked the fact that the book focused on the motive behind the crime , this really allowed us to understand the characters more .

Perfect for readers who love unpredictable endings and don't mind a cheating trope (it's not the main focus in the book although it is referred to from time to time) it still is worth it because of the awesome plot.

As the book starts, we meet college professor, Aaron, who is having an affair with his colleague, Cara. Aaron's wife, Paige, quickly discovers her husband's affair. Cara suddenly goes missing and Aaron is the prime suspect.

The story alternates between the past and present (post Cara missing). The story is told through Paige and Aaron, and a few sprinkles of a detective's POV.

I thought I knew where this book was heading, as affairs are often in thriller plots. However, the author takes the reader on a novel (pun not intended) journey in this suspense packed story. The character development is excellent. There is so much going on with each character. that you will have no idea where the story is heading. The book is super easy to read and quick paced. You won't be able to put it down!

Looking forward to more reads by Angela Henry1

Thank you Storm Publishing and NetGalley for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Firstly a huge thanks to Storm Publishing and NetGalley for my advanced reader copy. If I  am being truly honest this is one of those good books that stay with you long after you are done reading

The book follows Paige ( a nurse ) and Aaron ( a professor) who on the surface are a perfect couple with a beautiful family. All that changes when Aaron begins having an affair with his new colleague (Cara). It's true what they say all that glitters is not gold and when Aaron tries to break things over all their bottled-up nightmares surface. With an accusation threatening to tear a family how far will Aaron go to win back his wife and Paige to protect her family? Then Cara disappears and it's now a game. of car and mouse trying to find who dunnit.

Fast-paced, addictive, thrilling and a page-turner! One of 2024 must-read books if I must say so myself.

Rating: ⭐⭐️ (2/5 stars)

In "The Perfect Affair" by Angela Henry, Paige Nichols senses her husband's affair with his new colleague, Cara Morton, at a faculty mixer. Despite Aaron's promise to end it, Cara's shocking accusation jeopardizes his career and strains their fragile marriage. As doubts emerge, Cara vanishes, and suspicion falls on Aaron. Paige, holding her own secrets, questions if he's capable of murder. The police believe he is, but they are unaware of Cara's mysterious past and the depths of her potential danger. The novel unfolds with a blend of marital tension, accusations, and hidden secrets.

The college setting and academic elements, unfamiliar to an Australian reader, diminished my interest. The intricate dynamics among professors and the plot's predictability contributed to a lack of enjoyment. While the storyline wasn't inherently bad, these factors affected my overall engagement with the book.

I extend my gratitude to NetGalley for providing a copy of this book in return for my sincere review.

Thank you NetGalley and Storm Publishing for letting me review this book!

I would rate this 3.5 stars

The Perfect Affair was a great idea for a book and I did enjoy it! My honest thoughts are that it felt very drawn out and too long and had quite a few too many characters to keep track of. I did love getting to know the main characters better even though I couldn’t decide if I liked or disliked them! Haha but either way, I enjoyed the way this plot played out and how it came together in the end. Very strong beginning that kept me going and very strong and to wrap it all up. Overall, I would recommend to thriller lovers!

Although I didn’t latch onto any character I wanted to know what happened next. Some twists were a bit unrealistic but it made it more interesting honestly. I enjoyed this book and will pick up more by this author.

What a page turner! This thriller had me scrambling throughout, trying to figure out who was a truly shady character. Usually, having so many POVs and different tangents works against a story as it can get quite confusing, but The Perfect Affair executed it so flawlessly that I found it easy to follow.

The storyline, albeit not the most original idea, was engaging and the characters were all fleshed out so well. I’d definitely recommend this book to fellow psychological thriller lovers.

3.8*
I actually enjoyed this book even though it didn’t wow me.
The book started out good with discovery of dead body. pretty good paced, not too fast nor too slow.
The writing is also good.
.
There was only drama for the longest time, instead of any thrilling elements.
Don’t get me wrong, like dramas in books. It was so dramatic with a lot of characters and the characters had similar experiences as in, everyone cheated/was cheated once. It felt like the author was lack of ideas on how to link the characters apart from affairs. For a moment I felt like I wasn’t reading a thriller, more a contemporary romance.
.
I did like the characteristic of Cara and her mom. They made good villains and their motive made sense. However, I found it a little unrealistic that the MMC (Male Main Character), Aaron, did all the detective things whiles there were few chapters of POVs from the detectives, which could have been left out as well. Same go to young Cara's POV. They already explained a lot and it was obvious, there wasn’t any purpose of having 3 chapters of young Cara.
.
Also, I could see that the author was trying to do cliff-hanger at the end of the chapters, but it was left hanging for too long and the chapters just felt disconnected. If the book was thicker, I would have forgotten all that hints, given there were a lot going on already, it would be very hard to follow.
Therefore, in my opinions, the structure of the book was a mess. Tho it’s not hard to follow, but It left me feeling unorganized, as in "hopping all over the place".
There was a lot of twists, some of them were pretty good twists. That worths a star!

Thank you to NetGalley & Storm Publishing for this ARC copy. All opinions are my own.

The perfect affair is the first book of Angela Henry’s that I have read. Overall it is a decent paced story with intriguing characters. It alternates between point of views and timelines. I found myself most interested during Paige’s pov. The perfect affair is about Peter, a college professor, who finds himself in a messy spot with Cara, a fellow professor. Paige is his wife, who is greatly affected by Peter’s decisions. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the advanced copy. I would recommend this to my friends and family.
