So fast paced, I couldn’t put it down. I was hooked by the prologue and it never let up. The last 20% about gave me whiplash with all of the twists. It was hard to keep up, but it was fun!

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher of the arc, here is my honest review:

If this wasn’t an arc I wouldn’t have finished it. It didn’t grip me or make me want to know what happened. Honestly, it kind of just dragged on. I wanted it to be good but it just wasn’t. The final twist made it slightly better but not enough. It wasn’t a book were you are wondering how did it, you are wondering who wouldn’t. Every twist made me sigh rather than gasp.

Title: The Perfect Affair
Author: Angela Henry
Publication Date: January 15, 2024
Rating 2.5 Stars
What would you do to keep your family together? After Paige discovers her husbands affair, with his younger, beautiful, intelligent colleague Dr. Cara Morton, at a faculty party. Her husband, Dr. Aaron Nichols, swears he will break things off, and Paige believes him. That is until Cara makes some shocking accusations, against the college professor. With their marriage hanging on by a thread, Dr. Nichols career going up in flames. New lies, and long held secrets come to light, during police interrogation after Dr. Cara Morton goes missing. Who do you think did it? Aaron? The police sure believe so, but did he actually do it? Will Paige be able to keep her family together?
The Perfect Affair was a good read, eventually.
The first half of this read was hard to get through. There are multiple POVs, and the story goes back a few months then to present day with each POV. Which made it difficult to keep straight. You have to really pay attention to chapter pages in order to determine was this before or after she disappeared. Once you get that down the story finally picks up, there are multiple twists and turns, and I was left actually shocked by the end.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Storm publishing for this advance copy of The Perfect Affair by Angela Henry - this one is coming out January 15, 2024, right in time for the new year! This is my unbiased review:

This book starts off with a bang as we meet Aaron, an English professor who is having an affair with his colleague Cara. This one splits POV chapters between Aaron and his wife Paige, with a few sprinkles of a detective and a few flashback chapters. For that reason, I’d recommend print/eBook because I’m not sure if I would’ve been able to keep up with audio. This one is your classic domestic thriller, when Cara goes missing and Aaron is accused of something sinister. The reason this one doesn’t get a 5-star from me is because the author seemed to want to take us in a few too many directions - any one of the explanations we got could’ve been a singular plot point and expanded on a bit, but instead, it felt like we got a ton of random twists that felt a little incomplete. Overall, this book was really easy to read - I found myself really wanting to pick it up, which is fun, as I find domestic thrillers have the potential to really draw you in. I know some people don’t love domestic thrillers, and this one is definitely that, so avoid if it’s not your thing. If it is, this is definitely one I’d recommend checking out.

Thank you again to NetGalley and the publishers for this ARC in exchange for my honest review. The Perfect Affair is out 1/15/24!

This is a psychological thriller with adultery at its core! Of course to be fitting of this genre, murder is also involved!

This book is very American (something us Brits need to know as US books need us to decode the lingo a little more than books from our British counterparts!)

The story is of Paige, who discovers her husbands adultery. However husband Aaron being besotted with Cara barely scratches the surface of this novel, as Cara disappears and a criminal investigation ensues! Yikes!! This book reads as a superb American psychological thriller. It is is an utter rollercoaster with plot twists and turns galore!

Any fans of American psychological fiction will surely lap this one up!

My thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an advance copy.

Okay, I loved this one. I have never read anything from this author before but I will absolutely be looking into their other work!

It kept me engaged from the very beginning. It was well paced. The curve balls and plot twists were just right. I don't think it was a very predictable ending at all. Highly recommend.

Thank you netgalley and publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest opinion and review.

If you are wanting a book to get you out of a book hangover you have got to read The Perfect Affair. I was really impressed by the twists and turns in this one. It’s been a while since a book surprised me and the ending of this one did! I loved how all the main characters were keeping secrets and how their secrets coming out really tied up the end of the book. I was really invested in Aaron and hoping he would get his act together and loved how Paige had secrets of her own. You definitely have to add this one to your TBR list. This is my first time reading this author but I’ll definitely be checking out other books of hers in this genre.

This was my first time reading a book by this author, and it will definitely not be my last!

I think my husband says his prayers every night to just survive until morning…

Between the thrillers I read and true crime I watch, I think he’s pretty aware that if he messes up I could take him out and make it look like the Easter Bunny did it.

The Perfect Affair

And the perfect book for me…

It was a done deal as soon as I seen the title, no need to peak at the description (even though I did) I knew I HAD to have this book.

I absolutely love books that circle around secrets, lies and deceit and boy oh boy does this book deliver!

Angela Henry, perfectly crafted a plot that will keep you on the edge of your seat, addicted to getting to the next chapter without pause .

Not once did I get bored or look to put my book down.

The Perfect Affair is going to be a hit amongst book lovers and it was an honor to read and review early in exchange for an honest review.

Check out this teaser ;

When Paige Nichols meets her husband’s glamorous new colleague at a faculty mixer, she instantly knows they’re having an affair. It’s the way he looks at her, like she’s the only woman in the world. Aaron used to look at her like that, too. And with her beautiful, knowing smile, Cara Morton seems to enjoy flaunting their romance right under her nose.

Paige believes Aaron when he says he’ll break things off. What else can she do when she’s determined to hold her family together? But then Cara makes a shocking accusation about Aaron that threatens to end his career as a college professor and shatter their barely patched up marriage. Paige stands by her husband, but doubts creep in. Is Cara telling the truth? Or is this all part of her dangerous game?

Then Cara Morton disappears without a trace.

Paige knows her husband can keep secrets. She’s keeping dark secrets of her own. But is he a killer? The police seem to think so. But they don’t know Cara. They don’t know about her past. They don’t know what she’s capable of…

A twisty and completely unputdownable page-turner that will keep you up all night. Perfect for fans of The Housemaid, The Perfect Marriage and The Wife Between Us.

I received this ARC via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

This was my first time reading a book by this author. Angela Henry did not disappoint. Every time I thought I had this one figured out something else happened. This one will take you on a rollercoaster ride!!! I wanted to reach out and touch Aaron on more than one occasion. He just wouldn't do right. There were so many secrets that were revealed and I didn't know who to believe. Did Cara get what she deserved? I'll let you be the judge. I will definitely look for more books by Angela Henry. Great job!

First off, thank you to Netgalley, the author and publisher for this arc copy!

I have been in a reading slump for the last several weeks, DNFing three books, and I finally decided to crack open this book for a nice palette cleanser from fantasy and romance, and I'm so glad I did!

This book gave be Gone Girl vibes while I was reading it, so I enjoyed that part of it very much. I literally did not guess any of the plot twists, and I was constantly surprised by what happened! It's like you never knew what was going to happen, and not to draw any conclusions!

My one gripe with it was the time jumps took me out a little bit, not so much as past to present, but the jumping around between Aaron and Paige’s POV and the events not lining up the same way — like something would happen in November from Paige’s POV but then we jumped back to October from Aaron’s POV.

Other than that, I really enjoyed the book, and it kept me on the edge of my seat, and helped my hop out of my slump!

This book started off so strong and I loved where it was going but midway it got a little far fetched but still good. By the end it was a tad hard to believe but I finished and it was a wild ride. The characters were so good at being good and bad and really giving the plot what it needed to keep my attention.

I would have rated this book higher, but for one reason: the author kept mentioning over and over the skin color of the characters! Honestly, who cares what color their skin is? What relevance does it have to the story? Why can't you let the readers determine this for themselves?

Aside from this very, very annoying detail through the book, the story itself was interesting. There was an unexpected twist ... well, sort of. I guessed the killer from the beginning and it turned out that I was right. I'd much rather be surprised.

I recently read The Perfect Affair by Angela Henry, and it was a gripping and suspenseful read that kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. The story is about Paige Nichols, who suspects that her husband Aaron is having an affair with his colleague Cara Morton. When Cara makes a shocking accusation about Aaron that threatens to ruin his career and their marriage, Paige stands by him. But when Cara disappears, the police suspect Aaron of foul play, and Paige is forced to confront the dark secrets that she and her husband have been keeping.

The book is a well-crafted thriller that explores the complexities of relationships, trust, and betrayal. The author has done an excellent job of creating relatable characters, and the tension and suspense are palpable. The twists and turns in the plot keep you guessing until the end, and the pacing is perfect.

Overall, I highly recommend The Perfect Affair to anyone who loves a good thriller. It's a well-written and engaging book that will keep you hooked until the last page. The characters are well-developed, and the plot is full of surprises. The book is a must-read for anyone who enjoys a suspenseful and thrilling ride.

I enjoyed the development of the characters in this story. There were some unexpected twists. I do think think it got a bit confusing with all the twist thrown in, so as the story goes on be sure to remember the characters and their role.

I don’t even know where to start, this was SO good! So many unexpected twists and turns, I felt like as soon as I’d gotten over one plot twist another came straight after keeping me on the edge of my seat.

I stayed up late to finish this as towards the end I couldn’t put it down without knowing how this was going to end, and it was so worth it!

I can’t wait to check out more of Angela Henry’s work.

WOW what a ride!!!! I read this book in 2 days and stayed up way past my bed time because I couldn't put it down. Suspense in all corners of this book! I will def read more by this author.

From the start of this book it hooks you and makes you want to know. You def see how far someone would go to put the affair behind you. Cara is def something else and if Aaron was my husband i am not sure what i would do. Most men are not fans of emotional affairs because most of the time they cause the emotional affair. It was great to see it in reverse. All i can say is Cara got under my skin and made me more than once want to throw the book.

Def a great read and would recommend the book and the author hands down.

The cover was one of my favorite covers and love this book. Def 5 stars!!! Thanks Net Galley for letting me review this book.

My daughter in law recommended this book to me and after reading the blurb I was looking forward to it.

I haven't read anything by this author before so had no preconceptions about her style. I love a thriller and this didn't disappoint. There were lots of twists and turns and at the end of the book they came along at breakneck speed!

I found it very interesting that I had different feelings about almost all of the characters as their story unfolded and it's the first time I have found this to be the case for every one of the main characters.

I highly recommend this book and as I don't want to give any spoilers away I will say, buckle up it's a hell of a ride.
