Five years ago, during a sweltering summer heatwave, perfect wife and mother Joy Maddison set off for her usual evening run – and vanished without a trace.
The final video of Joy, posted online by her devastated husband, has been viewed over a hundred million times. In the last frame she smiles for the camera, waves and says, ‘See you later, my darlings. Love you all!’, before turning to open the gate to the woods.
And then she was gone...
You Know Her is a modern day thriller told in two parts. The story has three key characters; Joy the missing influencer, Maddie a recovering alcoholic and drug addict living rough in an abandoned warehouse and Jono Maddie’s absent boyfriend. Maggie is working for a local gangster Ned who is drawing her deeper and deeper into a place of no escape. But Ned doesn’t realise Maddie has a secret. As Maddie withdraws from drugs she starts to have memories of life she doesn’t recognise. A chance encounter with Lucy Joy’s police officer sister, turns Maddie’s life upside down.
A slow burner to start, this story really ramps up in the second part as we learn more and about the women and their lives before and after Joy’s disappearance.
It twists and turns and I knew exactly who did it until I didn’t, with the final twist taking me completely by surprise.
Thanks to Netgalley Instabooktours and D. E. White and Storm books for this ARC.

An enjoyable read, but I did find it slow in parts and would benefit from an edit of some of the repetitive dialogue.
I really liked the characters of Mattie and Bobby; well developed and relatable. I felt that Ella was a bit pointless and Emile didn’t deserve what he had!
I didn’t guess the ending, but I didn’t find it believable and so it was a little but disappointing.
2.5 ⭐️ rounded up. Thanks to Netgalley, D. E. White and Storm, for an ARC in return for an honest review.

I do love books by D. E. White they are usually different, full of twists and the unexpected. This one certainly was. I was gripped from the very first page. About half way through I thought I had worked it out, but I was wrong, very, very wrong.
Joy disappeared while out on a run. She was an influencer with a big following. A lot of fans but also a lot of haters. Her family never stopped hoping. Lucy, her sister is a detective and even she couldn't find any clues.
5 years later a chance sighting of someone who looked very like Joy. Could she still be alive? Not only alive but living in the same area? If so how come there had been no sight of her for 5 years?
Lots of questions and intrigue as the story unfolds and we are given teasers into what happened. The actual truth though when revealed is truly shocking and unexpected.
The characters are well defined and their personalities fit very well to their part in the story. I like how the sisters are different but close and the family dynamics not perfect. They are all flawed in a way that makes them very human.
The story is written in a way that makes you suspect character after character with the turn of the page seeming to present a new scenario. Absolutely, adrenaline pumpingly brilliant.
I absolutely loved it and can't wait for more from this talented author.
5 stars from me.
Thank you to the author, Storm Publishing and Netgalley for the advance digital copy of this book. This is my unbiased review.

You know her but you don't know what she's capable of....
This book is full of gripping chapters, that the author captured into one heck of a psychological thriller.
The main characters Mattie Wood, Jono McQueen has gone awol and Joy Maddison has disappeared, Mattie working at the fish market and into all sorts of dodgy dealings with drugs is a police informer, and Ned Ramon has rumbled her well and truly as the story progresses we read a whole lot more and it's not pretty, this book is so gripping and unputdownable and is very different to no other that I have read from the author.
Superb excellent and outstanding right up to the end

It was an interesting book , firstly I was excited at the upcoming story but then I got a bit bored with it . I continued to read and it got interesting again and I was curious as to who was the culprit. After reading to the end I found it a bit disappointing and it seemed a bit rushed . I wouldn’t recommend this book but I’m sure it would appeal to some people.

Mattie, ex drug addict and alcoholic, is trying to get out of the deadbeat lifestyle she’s found herself in. Becoming a police informant, earning money in exchange for information about her boss, she meets DI Lucy Merry. But how does Mattie tie in with the detective’s missing sister, Joy Maddison? Their lives are a million miles apart…
I LOVED this book! I was rooting for Mattie the whole time. I could feel her anxieties, my heart raced along with hers throughout the whole book! I didn’t trust anyone, but couldn’t work out who the bad guy was at all. That got me good!
This story kept me on my toes and guessing the whole way along, full of suspense and drama. Fantastic and a well deserved 5 stars from me.

Pretty good mystery with interesting plot twists.

This is the story of Joy, an influencer who disappears after going for an evening run. The story starts with Maddie and Jono, a drug-addicted homeless couple who were big fans of Joy. They work for the sinister Ned. The part of the book is very tense and violent.
After a big plot twist, which isn't really a surprise, the story moves to Joy's life, her friends and family, trying to solve the mystery of her disappearance.
There are quite a few plot holes, and the ending doesn't make sense to me.

Was a slow starter but I am glad I stuck with it!!!
Was engaging after you get into the book!

Joy Maddison has it all - the perfect family, the perfect house, and is a YouTube influencer. After her sudden disappearance 5 years ago, rumors of an affair or Joy having mental health issues cause people to believe everything might not have been what it seemed. Joy’s police officer sister will stop at nothing to find her and bring her home. But is she still alive? Could this be an elaborate prank?
I liked the plot of this novel and it was mostly engaging. There were certain points where it felt it dragged on a bit and I feel the length of the book could have been reduced to keep the reader engaged. I did like the twists.
Thank you to #netgalley and #stormpublishing for this ARC!

This book messed with my brain. It's a psychological thriller, different, irreverent and with a story that in no way reveals what will actually happen towards the very end. With a nice fluid writing, the author manages to capture the reader's interest until the end, however there are chapters that, in my opinion, add nothing to the story itself. The characters are quite interesting, there is care not to trivialize some of the topics covered in the book and since one of the topics covered is social media networks and how we are dependent on them and exposed, and how we expose family and friends, I think it is an excellent read and reflection, with everything that happens. I Recommend!

Upon considering the elements of "You Know Her" by D.E. White, I would rate it a solid 3.5 stars. The book effectively establishes a tense atmosphere and builds anticipation surrounding Joy Maddison's disappearance. The use of the final video creates intrigue and sets the stage for a captivating storyline. The author's descriptive writing skillfully captures the oppressive heatwave setting and conveys the characters' emotional turmoil.
However, while the book showcases well-drawn characters and maintains a sense of mystery, it occasionally falls into predictable plot twists and relies on familiar tropes. The pacing could be more consistent, with moments of slower development hindering the overall momentum of the story. Additionally, certain aspects of the resolution may leave readers seeking more closure or an even deeper exploration of the characters' motivations.
Overall, "You Know Her" is an engaging read that will captivate fans of mystery thrillers. While it may not reach the level of a full four stars due to some predictable moments and pacing concerns, it is still a solid choice for those seeking an atmospheric and suspenseful novel.

This starts off slow but stuck with it! It’s a slow burner that packs a punch and leaves you breathless. I’m glad I persevered with it!

Started off slow for me but glad I stuck with it as it picked up nicely with enough twists to keep me entertained.I always enjoy this authors books and this was a good edition to the collection.

Five years prior, Joy Maddison disappeared without a trace. A potential sighting reignited the search for Joy and raised difficult questions about what really happened to her.
You Know Her was a fairly solid domestic thriller. There were chapters interspersed throughout the book from a mystery point-of-view that I really enjoyed. It created an added level of suspense that helped to propel the plot. Additionally, there were multiple characters that I absolutely loved, including Bobby and Lucy. However, this novel was a very slow burn throughout and it never fully picked up for me. Additionally, I felt as though this book was longer than it needed to be. Had it been shortened slightly, it would have been more impactful.
Thank you to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for the opportunity to read this ARC!

Vlogger Joy Maddison had disappeared. She'd been gone for 5 years, which is how long Maddie and her boyfriend Jono had been together. And Maddie and Jono had allegedly killed her. Thanks to Jono, Maddie was a drug addict and an alcoholic.
Maddie was the star of this story. She and Jono had worked for a man named Ned in a fish house. Ned used his business to smuggle drugs and Jono became a police informant. But when things started heating up, Jono vanished. Maddie picked up where he left off with the police.
Lucy was Joy's sister and she was a police officer. Maddie had told her handler about a huge drug delivery that Ned was going to make. Ned had used Maddie to make deliveries. So the night of the delivery the police raided. Maddie and Lucy were both there and they made eye contact. Lucy was sure Maddie was Joy.
After the raid, Maddie went to the police station. Lucy was calling her Joy and Maddie was insisting that she was not Joy. Lucy was persistent, and when Maddie couldn't take it anymore, she confessed that she was not Joy because she and Jono had killed Joy.
Maddie took the police to the grave site and it turns out the woman buried there was not Joy but a look alike, after which the police did a DNA test on Maddie and it turns out she was, In fact, Joy.
The remainder of the book was spent on Joy trying to recapture her memory because she had amnesia and couldn't remember anything about her life as a wife and mother of three. She knew all about Joy's persona because Jono was an avid follower and had told her everything.
I would say the author did and excellent job telling the story and it held my attention throughout. The characters were well crafted as well. I gave this book five stars.

Mattie is a recovering addict, struggling with the disappearance of her long-term boyfriend, Jono. The years of drug and alcohol abuse have wreaked havoc on her body and mind, but she's slowly putting the pieces of her life back together. Acting as a police informant is Mattie's way back to real-life, but she must first come to terms with the past, and the crimes she believes committed, before she can move on in the present.
An interesting premise of a missing influencer and a recovering drug addict who seemingly have nothing in common. It was both suspenseful and frustrating trying to watch Mattie remember her past, but it kept the book moving. I was let down by the ending, as it seemed a bit abrupt, and wasn't helped by the epilogue. There were almost too many red herrings throughout, but overall, it was an enjoyable read.

Five years ago influencer and vlogger Joy disappeared whilst out jogging, no sightings of her whatsoever. Her sister DI Lucy Merry hasn't given up hope of finding her.
Mattie has had a troubled life, a drug addict and alcoholic, her boyfriend Juno has left her. Working for Ned, a dodgy businessman she is also a police informer and this brings her into contact with Lucy.
Although this was an enjoyable read I did find the first half slightly long winded and a bit repetitive however once I got past that the action ramped up slightly. I was correct in some of my assumptions but still found myself second guessing who the culprits were.

The premise was good, but there was too much waffle and the dialogue didn't feel very realistic.
Plot wise, it was captivating enough to read till the end to find out who everyone really was, but there were too many unanswered questions. I also feel if you are going to have some red herrings, they need accountability and a resolution of sorts, or they just come across as bad people.

Five years ago, during a sweltering summer heatwave, perfect wife and mother Joy Maddison set off for her usual evening run – and vanished without a trace.
This started out quite slow for the first 40% but then a twist came that I thought I saw coming, I was right and the story did pick up after this and I enjoyed the rest of the book. It definitely was a bit repetitious at times and some of this dialogue could have been cut which would have improved the book for the reader. The characters were quite well developed and the plot kept me reading, I really wanted to find out who was behind it all. I had not read this author before and will look up other books by them. 3.5 stars
