This was a fantastic feel good romance that covered some of my favourite tropes. I loved the mistaken identity situation and the level of support Riley gives Becca throughout the book.
I enjoyed that the story focused on writers trying to finish their novels and the various tropes that the two genres generally incorporate. The characters were loveable and the story covered serious topics in addition to the romance.
I would definitely read more from this author.
Plot Twist by Breea Keenan offers a fun and engaging narrative filled with unexpected turns and witty dialogue. While the plot may be entertaining, its reliance on familiar tropes might limit its impact for some readers.

Let’s start this review saying how I loved that this book was set in Ireland. It was truly refreshing to read about a Scottish woman who goes to live temporarily in Ireland, especially when most stories that I read nowadays are set in the USA or in London.
Becca was a great character, and I was really into her story, I was very emotional about the whole grief that she goes through and her difficult feelings of discovering a secret from someone that she loves, misses and is grieving about. I do think this, and her character development was the highlight of the book. Saying that, I think this book could be easily market it as a literary fiction because the romance part wasn’t quite there. Becca and Riley’s friendship was really well developed and so is Becca’s friendship with Bridget and the other people around town, and it would have been great if the story had intended to do this. However, I think Becca and Riley’s romance lacked chemistry, so it took me awhile to get into the story because I wasn’t convinced about them as a couple. Once I realised that I was more connected to the other elements of the book, I stopped setting expectations for the romance and enjoyed the story.
Overall, it was very nice, and I think it’s a great book for those who love books about books with a small-town charm.
Thanks to NetGalley UK and Headline for sending me this advance copy in exchange for an honest review.
A cute read, that felt like a perfect pallette cleanser. I felt that there where a lot of different tropes mixed together, which worked well at times.
I am a sucker for any books about authors and Plot Twist definitely did not disappoint. This one is perfect for fans of Book Lovers and Beach Read by Emily Henry. It's one I can see myself revisiting again. So grateful for the chance to read it!
Becca is having a rough time her best friend has died, she hates her job and she doesn't know wherw her books is going.
Becca and Riley are both writers struggling to find the groove to keep writing they become friends through the Internet. And Riley offers for Becca to come stay with them in Ireland.
There are lots of plot twists and a lot of miscommunication for a short book but I guess that's what you get for a book called plot twist hahah.
I enjoyed myself it was an easy book to read I would say it was light hearted but there was a lot of sadness. But I guess it's similar to real life the light and the dark in someone's life.
Becca is a teacher and aspiring children’s author who just lost her best friend. Riley is a published author who invites her to stay with him and his daughter for the summer for a “writer’s retreat.” As the pair work together to finish their books, people from their past come knocking and shake up the beginnings of love.
Overall, I thought this was a cute romance. The beginning felt super rushed to me. It feels like a ton happened in just the first 3 chapters and gave me a little whiplash. Then the romance was cute, but felt a little rushed as well. I would have loved to see more romantic moments between our two leads. The side characters were so fun and I would love to have some spin off books about them!
Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
What a fabulous book! I loved it and its characters, Once I was a few chapters into it it was so hard to put down, you’re so invested in what happens next.
No spoilers so no really explaining about it, just that the main character is Becca and she is having a really tough time.
Read it and I’m sure you’ll love it!
Ich weiß ehrlich gesagt nicht, wie ich dieses Buch bewerten soll, da ich es aufgrund relativ kurzer Ausleihdauer (ohne Verlängerung) nicht lesen konnte.
"Plot Twist" was a fun read. I really enjoyed the romance and comedy throughout this story. I devoured this book and couldn't put it down!
I .hate givinga a books a little stars rating, but what can I say I just didn't feel this one.
I didn't connect to the MCs, to the storyline.
It was cute, but not for me.
2.5 stars

This will definitely work for many people – a cute little hangout vibes romance. For me, the characters were all a little too twee (or cruel with no dimension). At times it read like there was too little going on and it didn’t really hold my attention and then parts where the plot became convoluted.
Always happy to support Scottish authors but Plot Twist wasn’t the kind of romance book that I enjoy. If you like your romances very cutesy and fluffy then this could be for you.
✨ BOOK REVIEW: Plot Twist
⭐️⭐️⭐️✨/5
(3.5/5)
This one was definitely for the Emily Henry fans for sure and that same type of writing is what made me stay. This contemporary novel did a great job at layering its characters and having them multi-faceted. The concept of pen-pals and meeting face to face only to realize that you’ve been writing to a hunk? Who wouldn’t love that?! Especially an Irish one.
I was having a kind of tug and war with some of the characters and their relationships, though. The development kind of waned for me and I wish there was more foundation or build up there.
This was a great debut, though, and it definitely makes me look forward to more of Breea’s contemporary romances in the future.
Thank you Headline and NetGalley for this arc.
I enjoyed this fun debut rom-com! Becca is an elementary school teacher and aspiring writer in Glasgow. When she suddenly loses her best friend Rae in a car accident and is about to be engaged to her ex boyfriend it throws her into a tailspin. Her friend Riley, a member of her writer's group which she'd been messaging and sharing passages of their respective novels invites her for some time in Ireland for a mini writer's retreat she jumps at it! Little does she know that Riley is a sexy Irishman.
I enjoyed this story! I loved all the side characters, like Riley's sister, her partner as well as his adorable daughter. There were also some more serious themes weaved in there like the loss of her best friend Rae. I'm looking forward to more from this writer.
Thanks to @headline, @netgalley, and the author of this ARC
A captivating and immersive read from start to finish. The author's storytelling is masterful, with well-developed characters and a plot that keeps you engaged throughout. The prose is beautifully written, and the themes explored are both thought-provoking and profound. Highly recommend this book to anyone looking for an unforgettable literary experience. Five stars!

Plot Twist was like a breath of fresh air. It was everything I love in a good romance. It was deep, emotional, funny, and addictive.
The storyline was compelling, the characters strong, and the writing was excellent.
I was drawn into the story immediately. I was hooked from the first paragraph, which doesn't happen often.
The main characters, Becca and Riley, had great chemistry. The tension and build up was really good, but the spicy scenes themselves were a bit lacking. That's the only reason I didn't give Plot Twist 5/5. It's really the only thing I can critique though, as the rest of the book was fantastic.
I highly recommend, and I look forward to reading more from Breea Keenan.
4 stars from me. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
I really liked the concept of this book, but the execution fell flat.
PLOT TWIST is the story of struggling writers-turned e-pen pals-turned lovers who share a house in the Irish countryside in attempt to work through personal and career struggles. Throw in preschooler, a deceased best friend, and hidden secrets that come to light and you have a messy rom-com that doesn't quite stand out.
I don't think any of it was developed enough to be enjoyable or satisfactory. The relationship between Becca and Riley needed more build up, more richness, and more chemistry. I wasn't buying their relationship. And while I enjoyed the author's voice and humor, the conflict was not developed enough to be meaningful. Everything felt a bit surface level.
I will look forward to Breea's future work, but likely will not be re-reading this one.
Thank you to Netgalley and Headline for the e-ARC in exchange for my honest, unbiased review. PLOT TWIST is out now.
Well, that was a plot twist! Becca goes to Ireland to work on her book and stay with her online-only friend, only to discover Riley is not the female romance writer she's expecting, but a very good looking man. There is a spark immediately that they try to ignore, but of course, romance wins.
I love a good romcom and this didn't let me down. It was a fun, easy read with nice spice. I will definitely look for more by this new author.
I often find I struggle to like contemporary romance but I enjoyed this book.
Becca is a teacher who is writing a children’s book on the side. She meets Riley, a romance writer, in an online writing forum and they begin an internet friendship. When Becca’s life falls apart, Riley invites Becca to stay with her in Ireland. Only when Becca arrives, she discovers Riley is not a 'her' at all, as Becca presumed, but a gorgeous (obviously) man.
The book promotes itself as being very chicklit/romcom and I will say I definitely got movie romcom vibes as I read. In fact, more than once I was reminded of [the movie] Holiday whilst reading.
Plot Twist had all the ingredients a good chicklit/romcom needs: There is an actual conflict (so rare!) and some good misunderstandings. The minor characters were great (mostly, I was actually not a huge fan of Becca’s BFF; her scenes just seemed to indicate she was a bitchy drunk which I assume was not the intention). The leads had some nice chemistry. The Irish setting was appealing. And, oh, the hero had a cute kid.
One negative was its humour. I wouldn’t say it was hilarious at all (as claimed on the blurb). I never found Becca to be particularly funny at all, despite Riley finding her so.
Overall, Plot Twist was sweet and a pretty strong debut from Keenan. I’d recommend.
4 out of 5
Oh, what a surprisingly lovely debut novel from Breea Keenan.
Sure, you can easily see it's a debut, there are so many moments that need polish, polish, polish, there are plot - holes and tons of convenient things happening, the plot is easy and predictable, but!
It's a lovely, humorous read with some poignant situations and brilliant banter between the characters - they have great sense of humour. Maybe there is nothing new in this book, but nevertheless it has this "SOMETHING" that you're looking for in your reads and I enjoyed this whole friends who become lovers, lovers who become friends, exes turning up, grand gestures, complicated past...
Just go into this book with open heart and open mind. It will take you on a lovely journey when you won't overthink things - sometimes such a heart - warming, easy read is what you need.
