Gosh this was a hard but good read. Highlighting how people in a position of power can manipulate that and get away with such terrible things. I found it hard to put it down, wanting to read just one more chapter. A real thriller with lots of twists and shocking bits.

Being in law enforcement myself, this hit close to home. There are always bad apples in every profession so the plot was realistic. A man using his profession and status to take advantage of unsuspecting women is common and I wanted to see how this played out. Would the betrayed wife and ex police herself be able to find justice? Destroying her life and career. Decent suspense novel but I expected more anger, hurt and revenge from this woman.

Wow! I loved this book! It is one of the best thrillers I’ve read in a long time. I’ve got to admit, I had to stop reading it at bedtime (my favourite way to end the day) as I couldn’t put it down. So many times I thought I’d solved the mystery, but with the twists and turns I just failed. I great book that I’d recommend to anyone who likes being kept awake all night to find out what happens.

One of those books that you don't know if you enjoyed or not - heavy TW for rape/SA. Generally well written with an interesting plot, but I found it difficult to connect with any of the characters and some plot points weren't properly developed.

This just didn't work for me personally.

I really enjoyed the authors previous books but I just couldn't connect with the characters in this book.

A quick read. Suspenseful but also a tad boring. I think I found it so quick to read as I was skipping a lot of the monologues of Becky’s. It kept me moderately entertained but the writing was a bit dull and at times repetitive.

Good book once I got into it but found that it took me a while to get into it. Once I had started to enjoy it a found it a good read and did this it was worth my time.

This was such a good book! I could not put it down and read it in one sitting. I would definitely recommend this book to all my family and friends!

Becky was a detective, and was also married to a detective, John. Becky lost everything when she reported her husband to the police for a terrible crime. But he managed to make her look bad, and he kept his life and job. Becky is determined to find evidence to bring him down, and all the other bad apples.

I really enjoy all work by this author, she always offers tense and fast paced reads, and this one was no different. There were a few red herrings throughout and the ending was something I didn’t see coming. The characters were well written, especially Becky. This story does feature corrupt police officers and rapes. I thought the author wrote the story well, without anything graphic.

good book. i really enjoyed it. i struggled to get into it in the beginning but i think that had more to do with my reading slump then anything with the writing.

A great thriller with plenty of tension and twists to keep you hooked throughout.

Becky used to be a respected police officer, that was until she accused her husband, John, of rape. The problem was that he was also a police officer and had friends to back him up and Becky had no evidence. As a result she lost her job, her home, friends and the man she thought she was going to spend the rest of her life with.

After finishing out that John has loved and gained a promotion, Becky makes it her priority to find evidence and make sure that John cannot hurt anyone else. Will Becky be able to find evidence? Will she be able to prove what she knows about John?

A great twisty and tense thriller. If you love police procedural type thrillers this will be one for you.

What an interesting read. Becky went through a lot to try and bring John down as he was a very good liar and manipulator. She really had to work out who she could and couldn't trust as there were many surprises with people. The ending was good and it surprised me. Would recommend.

If you enjoyed line of duty and any stories based on police corruption you will enjoy this. A well done book with interesting characters.

This book had a vice-like grip on me from the very first page. The content was very dark and utterly compelling. The characters were layered; complex and intriguing. Highly recommend!

I enjoyed Alice Hunters previous books , but unfortunately, for me this didn’t work..I didn’t like the characters and I guessed quite early on what was happening .The book lacked something and I felt it could have been a much shorter book.
Sadly I can only give it an average score but I would still try and read other books of hers

A page turner, full of tension and suspense. The characters are well written and leaving the reader not knowing who to trust. On the downside some of Becky's actions are unbelievable and take away from the story. Despite this, I really enjoyed this book and I recommed it to anyone who is looking for a good read for their holiday.

Unfortunately I just didnt connect with this book, I found the writing to be not to my liking. I was quite disappointed as I have heard such good things about this author.

Having previously read and enjoyed The Serial Killer’s Wife by Alice Hunter, I was looking forward to reading another book by the author. Becky Lawson’s life is shattered when she discovers her husband, John (a trusted policeman) was a serial rapist however she reports him and isn’t believed. Another fast paced thriller however I felt a bit of character development was missing and Becky seemed a bit naive at times. Overall a good read with plenty of twists and turns.
