good book. i really enjoyed it. i struggled to get into it in the beginning but i think that had more to do with my reading slump then anything with the writing.

A great thriller with plenty of tension and twists to keep you hooked throughout.

Becky used to be a respected police officer, that was until she accused her husband, John, of rape. The problem was that he was also a police officer and had friends to back him up and Becky had no evidence. As a result she lost her job, her home, friends and the man she thought she was going to spend the rest of her life with.

After finishing out that John has loved and gained a promotion, Becky makes it her priority to find evidence and make sure that John cannot hurt anyone else. Will Becky be able to find evidence? Will she be able to prove what she knows about John?

A great twisty and tense thriller. If you love police procedural type thrillers this will be one for you.

Thank you to Avon Books UK and NetGalley for a digital copy of this book.

*4.5 Stars*

Copy kindly received via NetGalley for an honest review.

What an interesting read. Becky went through a lot to try and bring John down as he was a very good liar and manipulator. She really had to work out who she could and couldn't trust as there were many surprises with people. The ending was good and it surprised me. Would recommend.

This book had a vice-like grip on me from the very first page. The content was very dark and utterly compelling. The characters were layered; complex and intriguing. Highly recommend!

A twisty tale of police corruption. John is a serving police officer who thinks he is above the law. Becky lost her job in the police trying to expose her husband’s crimes. And she can’t leave them alone.

A dark tale of the lengths some people will go to to cover up their misdemeanours. Does John have friends in high places? Can Becky uncover evidence of his crimes?

A dark tale that is unsettling.

My thanks to Avon Books and NetGalley for a copy of “Bad Apple” for an honest review.

I enjoyed Alice Hunters previous books , but unfortunately, for me this didn’t work..I didn’t like the characters and I guessed quite early on what was happening .The book lacked something and I felt it could have been a much shorter book.
Sadly I can only give it an average score but I would still try and read other books of hers

"Bad Apple" by Alice Hunter is a gripping and intense thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat. The story follows Lauren, who seemingly has the perfect life until her husband, Jack, starts exhibiting increasingly erratic and sinister behavior. As Lauren delves into Jack's past, she uncovers dark secrets that threaten to destroy everything she holds dear.

Alice Hunter masterfully builds suspense throughout the novel, creating a chilling atmosphere that keeps you guessing until the very end. The characters are complex and well-developed, with Lauren's journey from trust to suspicion and fear being particularly compelling. The plot is filled with unexpected twists and turns that make it hard to put the book down.

Overall, "Bad Apple" is a well-crafted thriller that delivers on both tension and emotional depth. It's a must-read for fans of psychological suspense, earning a solid four stars for its captivating storyline and vivid character portrayals

A page turner, full of tension and suspense. The characters are well written and leaving the reader not knowing who to trust. On the downside some of Becky's actions are unbelievable and take away from the story. Despite this, I really enjoyed this book and I recommed it to anyone who is looking for a good read for their holiday.

Having previously read and enjoyed The Serial Killer’s Wife by Alice Hunter, I was looking forward to reading another book by the author. Becky Lawson’s life is shattered when she discovers her husband, John (a trusted policeman) was a serial rapist however she reports him and isn’t believed. Another fast paced thriller however I felt a bit of character development was missing and Becky seemed a bit naive at times. Overall a good read with plenty of twists and turns.

The start of this book had me so gripped! The story was well paced throughout, it was really interesting reading about the corruption of the police and them hiding and covering disgusting actions to keep their own safe. It was such a frustrating story at times reading about these actions and crimes and having Becky get knocked down when she was trying to uncover the truth, you just felt so bad for her all the way through. I loved that I did not trust any of the characters! It’s definitely a book that you’re trying to work out constantly as to who’s behind what, what consequences will come from certain actions, you’re constantly second guessing everything which is a sign of a good thriller! The only criticism I would have is that I just couldn’t gel with any or the characters, which Is probably because I didn’t trust any! But even Becky the main character, I’m not sure what it was about her, I felt so badly for her and obviously rooted for her all the way but there was something about her, I feel we didn’t get to know any other Side of her really. Overall it was a gripping read, it had such an interesting story and I would recommend it as I did really enjoy it.

I’ve got to say, I was rather disappointed after seeing so much hype for this author. I do have 2 others by this author on my shelf which I’ll try to give a fairer chance.

I liked the idea of the plot for bad apple. I just didn’t get the WOW I was waiting for as the twist at the end wasn’t that big of a twist - I saw it coming much earlier on.

I did like the characters and the way they were portrayed though. Each character served a purpose which is rare, but I liked that.

Have always enjoyed books by this author and this book again did not disappoint. Full of twists and turns and an ending I didn't see coming. Made me question what happens within the services and whether corruption is an ongoing issue.

Becky, an established member of the police force finds herself without a job following the reporting of her husband for sexual assualt, who was then not prosecuted.
Learning that he is now in another relationship, she is desperate to prove his guilt, particularly for the safety of other women. She enlists the help of a couple of friends who continue to work in the force.

However the deeper she digs, the more her life becomes endangered and leaves her questioning who in fact she can trust.

Really enjoyed this fast paced read and would highly recommend.

A really good premise, interesting characters and a gripping plot.

There were a few moments that felt a little predictable/implausible but that didn’t detract from the success of the novel overall.

I raced through Bad Apple as I found it hard to put down.

Being a fan of the author, I jumped at the opportunity as I knew what I was getting into. I embarked on an edge-of-your-seat journey that kept me guessing and took me on so many roads filled with twists and turns.

Totally recommend to all thriller fans

I really enjoyed this book and absolutely flew through it. Such a great read
some of the book is a little far fetched and I was screaming inside at the naivety of Becky sometimes but this book left me wanting more and more and before I knew it I had finished the book
Becky is on a mission to get justice for all of the women her ex husband, John, has destroyed
what i will say is John is a very powerful man with a lot of friends in high places.while Becky is on the mission, more and more is going wrong, urging her to leave the truth uncovered.
the book was fast paced for the most part which made me want to read on to find out who was going to win the cat and mouse chase.
I really loved the authors writing style.
the ending was left open so I wouldn’t be surprised if I saw bad apple 2 released!

Becky Lawson’s life has been shattered. When she discovered her husband, John – a trusted policeman – was a monster, she reported him. But her faith in the system was crushed when it didn't lead to any charges or consequences. Now, John lives freely with a new girlfriend and her young daughter, while Becky battles guilt over missing the obvious signs. Determined for justice, Becky hunts him down. But John wants her silenced – at any cost. Becky knows only one of them can survive, and she’ll do anything to make sure it’s her. Becky must tread carefully though, because John isn’t the only bad apple lurking in the shadows. This kept me enthralled until the very end. Lots of twists and turns and it will make you want to sleep with the lights on!

A really addictive read that I just couldn’t put down. I felt every second of those three weeks with Becky and the pain and suffering she went through. Great twists that kept me guessing throughout the book.
