Thank you NetGalley and Avon Books UK for this ARC.
Love at First Knight is the second novel by a local-to-me author, and I also managed to snag a signed copy from The Works with sprayed edges on release day!
I had high hopes for this novel; alas, it ended up being a jusy-okay story. In short, this is a modern day story with Pride and Prejudice vibes, where a young woman named Daisy from rural Lincolnshire goes to London for a summer job at the Tower of London, where she meets a Viscount (Theodore Fairfax, nephew to the King), whom she immediately loathes. Nevertheless, she gets paired to work to work with him, which only ends in disaster.
Whilst being marketed as a love story, I felt like this story was more about Daisy facing her fears and becoming the strong young woman she was meant to be, with the help of her supportive family back home, her new eccentric flat mate, an archivist she meets on her first day, and of course the Viscount, Teddy. There are vague hints at an almost-love triangle, and a few chaste kisses on-page, as well as some confessions that felt like they were straight out of a Jane Austen novel, but it didn't quite hit the spot for me as a romance novel, and I found myself skimming parts of the story from time to time.
There are extensive descriptions of LARPing and other nerd culture elements, which isn't my thing, but I can imagine someone who is into it would like this story.
⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 from me.

Pure escapism! A very far fetched tale of knights, role play and handsome men, a bit too Mills and Boon for me, but great fun.
But for all its apparent predictably, I had no idea of how it would end! Well done, Ms Clawson…
Thank you to NetGalley for providing this book for review.

Although I enjoyed the first book in this series a bit more I still adored the setting and character development. Megan is able to provide such authentic storytelling due to her own experiences living in England and it makes the reading experience so enjoyable.

I was super lucky to get an arc of this back before it was published. However I just couldn’t get into the story and I actually ended up DNF-ing it at only 7%. I still really wanted to read it though, so I decided to try the audio instead.
I still struggled to get through the first part - while I appreciate the anxiety representation and how difficult it must’ve been for the author to write about it, I found it a little annoying. But once I got past that and we were introduced to the love interest, I was invested.
The slow burn in this is slow but so worth it. I really loved the banter between Daisy and Teddy, and how their relationship gradually grew. Seeing their growth throughout the book, especially Daisy, was really heartwarming, and I loved how she finally accepted herself at the end.
As with the author’s first book, the descriptions of the Tower of London and the settings are amazing. You can tell how much love she has the Tower and it really brings it to life. And you can’t not mention the LARPing, which I have to admit I find a little cringe but it was cute in the context of the story, and I did enjoy seeing all of the characters get fully into it.
I think if you like a good slow burn romance with banter and fun side characters, then this is definitely a book you should pick up.
(Thank you NetGalley for an arc of this book in return for an honest review.)

Though a classic romantic set-up, I liked the new twist that was put on it. Daisy is a well-rounded out main character, who is relatable for so many young women. Her fear of the ‘outside’ world and the fantasies she makes in her head to help her get through the day. She pushes herself to get out of her comfort zone - in turn meeting our main love interest, Freddy.
However, the story isn’t just about the blossoming love between the two of them, it is about Daisy and Freddy’s own character development. I really enjoyed the fantastical element of the story, it was a pleasure to be sucked into a whole new world. This was a comfort read if I ever saw one.

Due to health issues cannot write a proper review now even if I enjoyed this book. as it's well plotted, entertaining, with an intriguing romance, and I liked the storytelling

A really light-hearted and fun read. Medieval fantasy, a really fun read. I will definitely seek out more of this author's work.

This is Megan's second book and, on reading the notes at the end, she seemed concerned that the second book is a whole different ballgame. And I believe that may well be true. Because, this second novel is a triumph and is just so much slicker than the first. There are no loose ends, no begging the question. Everything works and it is glorious.
If I had any criticism, I'd have edited parts a little differently and there are a few moments where the terminology goes awry, but that's nit-picking.
I loved it. I read it in one sitting and I loved it. More please!!

This is a truly delightful read for a non-traditional historical romantic comedy. It was a perfect length and I didn't want to put it down. I'm anxiously watching for more!

The book excels in its vivid descriptions and well-researched historical details, which create an immersive reading experience. The chemistry between the protagonists is palpable, and their banter adds a delightful touch to the narrative.
However, the plot can be somewhat predictable, and some secondary characters lack depth. Additionally, the pacing occasionally drags, making certain sections feel longer than necessary.
Overall, Love at First Knight is an enjoyable read for fans of historical romance, offering a pleasant escape into a world of knights and noblewomen, even if it doesn’t break new ground in the genre.

A good follow up to Megan’s first book and nice to see that the main characters from that appeared in this one too. Good characters in this one and I enjoyed the storyline.

My Top 3 things from this book:
•Bobble
•LARPing
•Tower of London setting
This is a really sweet story and although it has romance in it, there was so much more story to it with friends, family and life experiences.
I really enjoyed the Tower of London setting and trying to visualise each part as it was described. I also enjoyed the LARPing, as it was a bit unusual!
Of course my favourite character was Bobble, I wish we had had more of her. She was a unique and special person and sounded just like a friend you would want to have.
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2

Every time I picked up "Love at First Knight", I was whisked away!
I enjoyed Ms. Clawson's previous novel "Falling Hard for the Royal Guard", and was very excited to read this book as soon as I heard about it! I also think the title of this novel is so clever as well!
Oh my goodness! Daisy and Teddy's enemies-t0-lovers romance will have you turning the pages to see what happens next. There is growth, banter, wit, and love. And the Tower of London is a character in its own right too!
This book truly has so much in it: anxiety representation, romance, family, royalty, surprises, and so, so much more.
Some parts of this novel didn't have the smoothest transitions, but, even with this said, I still really enjoyed this book!
If you enjoy Romance, I highly recommend this book! I look forward to reading what Megan Clawson writes next!
Thank you so much to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for the ARC of this novel, it is fantastic! All opinions expressed in this review are my own.

It was cute, but some things didn't add up or make sense. Hiring someone to work with kids that has little experience and then leaving them alone?

Although Daisy was frequently frustrating and Teddy was weirdly hot and cold, this was still an eminently readable book that prompted me to seek out Clawson's other book, Falling Hard for the Royal Guard.

This book is from the same author as 'Falling Hard for the Royal Guard' which was another great book. I like that Megan Clawson is continuing with a similar theme as it is quite niche. Its a very easy book to follow and I'm looking forward to the authors next novel.
Thank you NetGalley and the Publisher for this ARC

What a lovely read! It was a great enemies to Lovers book. I also enjoyed how there were interesting subplots that were not about romance. I normally am all about the romance, the build up, and the tension. This book had an interesting family dynamic and friends that all kept me interested as the main character continued on her journey. If you're looking for an easy read that will have you smiling often this is it!

I truly tried to love this book as I enjoy anxiety represented in books and would love to see more of that. And I have given it the stars for that. I liked it at first but it did fall short for me. The cover did immediately grab my attention as well as the synopsis and would still love to see more contemporary fiction especially in YA with mental health rep.

This was overall such a fun read! I loved the commentary around internet dating. Glad I had the opportunity to check it out.

I loved reading this book, which followed Daisy, an anxious young woman working in her father’s hobby/geek shop and participating in LARP battles with her family, where she became an elven noble alter ego. She would adopt this character whenever feeling anxious, to give her a bit of emotional strength, and this was definitely needed when she got a job in London, where she would be training children to ‘become knights’ in a knight school experience. Once there, she meets Teddy Fairfax, a bit of a disgraced royal looking to clear up his image, but his attempt to get out of his new job begins to put Daisy’s position at risk. I thoroughly enjoyed this read, and really related to Daisy as an anxious, neurodivergent person. The supporting characters were also amazing and I can’t wait to read more by this author as I didn’t want this book to end! I was really pleased with how the story ended and would definitely recommend it to any romance fans.
