This is a lovely set of boba recipes to make at home. It includes adorable kawaii illustrations along with the recipes. It's beautiful and enjoyable.

This book was way more independent than I was expecting it was fantastic. The art was pleasing to the eye and so adorable. The recipes in it are actually really good too! Highly reccomend

This book is absolutely gorgeous and gives us everything we need to know about Boba in a fun, cute way.
I really appreciated the detailed information which took us through how to make the boba, the syrups, which milk to choose and how to mix juice blends. It gave so many options and I look forward to trying them all out.
The boba recipe, probably the most important one in the book, was pretty tricky and I think it will take quite a few tries before we get it right.
This would make a fantastic gift to anyone who loves boba as much as our family does!

This guide to bubble tea is fun, colorful, engaging, and easy to follow. I enjoyed learning about how to make bubble tea as well as some fun recipes outside of the standard fare. I highly recommend this book.

I decided I wanted to actually make one of the recipes in this book before I review it to be thorough - because looking at the other reviews I couldn't find a single one where someone had made a recipe from it, everything was just "5 stars - the art is super cute!" and like, yeah, the art IS cute. If I gave it a rating just on looks alone I'd say 4 stars. BUT actually following the recipes? I'd give it 1 star.
I went out and bought what I needed to make the boba balls and was going to make one of the fruit teas. But the boba recipe (which you need as a starting point for every single recipe) did not work for me. I measured out the ingredients with a kitchen scale to have the exact same measurements as the recipe said. Then I did as the recipe said, up until "after the mixture starts to thicken". The mixture never thickened. I wasn't sure how thick it shoudl get, either - like to a caramel consistency? I took it off the stove and put the rest of the tapioca flour in, and I was successful in creating oobleck. Definitely not a dough.
SO I Googled what I did wrong, and found a YouTube video explaining hot to avoid the oobleck disaster, which is apparently something enough people do when making boba that there's multiple videos and internet instructions on how to avoid this happening. NO WHERE in this book do they warn you that this could happen. Also, if you accidentally make oobleck, you have to throw the whole thing out. It's not fixable.
I tried again, using the video guidance for help (and already, if I have to watch a YouTube video for a book's recipe to work, we're already at a terrible start). I measured out all my ingredients exactly like the recipe says. And I added a spoonful of tapioca flour at a time, waiting for it to get to the stage the video said, where it turns gelatinous and sticks together in a ball. That never happened. I stood in my kitchen slowly added a spoon of flower, mix, slowly add another spoonful, mix. Until I got to the second last spoonful and - IT TURNED INTO OOBLECK AGAIN. This is definitely a problem with the recipe, and not my fault. I think the recipe calls for too much water and no matter how many times I try, it will always fail.
Another thing is that the recipes are written a little confusingly at times. Like it says uses the phrases "tapioca flour" and "tapioca starch" interchangeably, and while they are the same thing, using one term the entire time will make it was less confusing for readers who might think they're missing.
Each recipe also has SO many steps. You have to make the boba (or buy it at a store, but you're going to have to find an Asian grocers that stocks it - I've looked at about 5 Asian grocers in my area online and only one store had it, and I wasn't able to go out and buy it because they're on the other side of the city from me). then you have to brew your tea of choice (they give instructions for black and green tea), and then you have to make a simple syrup or jam. So like, this book presents itself as a easy way to make boba at home to save money, but are you really saving money if it takes 3 hours to make one cup of tea?
So yeah, while this book does have very cute art, I do not recommend it as a recipe book.

I love Bubble tea! I enjoyed the recipes for flavors and the variations of flavor profiles offered in this book. Super fun gift idea for a boba loving friend

So many recipes. I am excited to try them out. they seem easy to make even for someone who doesn't cook like me.
4 stars

As the title says, absolutely adorable! The highlight of this mini cookbook is the dreamy art. It’s also a good guide for those who want to try their hand at making boba tea at home but want to make it using wholesome ingredients instead of powders; there’s instructions on how to make fresh tapioca, syrups and jams from fruit, and even boba jellies and pudding. The book also introduces us to some interesting flavours you usually don’t see in boba stores often, such as cucumber. But even if you’re hopeless in the kitchen, it’s worth a read for the art on its own!

I love the recipes in this book. They are really fun. I love that there are recipes for ingredients that go in some of the bubble teas, like different syrups. To at really adds some quality to the book. I would definitely buy this either for myself, or for a friend who might like some cutesy stuff.

This is super cute and easy to follow. I love bubble tea and found the instructions within this to be incredibly easy to follow.

Adorably cute art is what drew me to this book and what puts this book on my to-gift list for bubble tea lovers. Even if they'll never actually use the recipes, the art will keep them flipping through it.
But, for anyone that does like cookbooks for recipes, I generally don't think bubble tea cookbooks in general are worth it. Most bubble tea cookbooks could be a pamphlet since after the basics (which are... Basic), they're pretty repetitive.
But ignoring my opinion on that, the layout of the recipes and the little tips sprinkled throughout are very nice.
Think of it as an art book rather than a cookbook and it's 5 stars

This is a primer on all things boba! The book gives you a history of boba and then a basic primer on it, before introducing you to making boba pearls, and then making the drinks. My teens adores boba and loves this book for making it simple to make drinks at home. She really liked making her own syrups at home, as now she knows how to make unique flavors and combinations. The book is slim and features cute kawaii inspired illustrations, so its perfect for gift giving to tween, teens and coeds especially this holiday season, along with a basket of boba making supplies and a cute drink cup!

This book was absolutely adorable and I enjoyed the narrative style history descriptions. The recipes seemed simple and easy to follow (Note: I did not try any of them myself). I would totally buy the physical version of this to keep in the house with the hopes of making the recipes one day. Also, I love bubble tea (boba)...so if you love it too, this book is for you!
Thank you to NetGalley, Quarto Publishing Group - Rock Point, and the authors (Stacey Kwong & Keyah del Mundo) for the opportunity to read and review this book.

This is a recipe book for bubble tea, jams, slushies, mojitos (fum nonalcoholic ideas), milkshakes, sips and dips, and even egg pudding, syrups, and signature teas as well. Explains the original and the supplies well. It's very cute with illustrations on the pages.
So much to try, makes a great gift for self-care but also to enjoy with friends.
Thank you Netgalley and Publisher for this digital Arc.

A sweet, beautifully-designed recipe book and love letter to all things boba! Blending recipes, gorgeous illustrations, the cultural history of the beloved drink and even insight into entrepreneurship, Kawaii Cafe Bubble Tea is a fresh, fun read that will leave your heart full and your mouth watering. Fantastic for those who want to try out new recipes (I love the sound of the Top Shelf!!) or just want to learn more about boba and pore over the illustrations, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this title!

This book is adorable and very informative! The art is wonderful and I love how the book is not just recipes but it tells you the cultural background of boba and gives your knowledge on how boba works. The recipes I tried were also delicious. If you wanna learn how to make tasty boba than this book is for you!

I don't normally pick up a cookbook, for the times I make my meals from scratch can be counted by fingers. Yet it doesn't come as a surprise that I decide to read this one. There are a list of reasons why:
- first, I have to admit that I was instantly drawn by this adorable cover (let's be honest, how can I resist?) I still can't get over it.
- the blurb. I'm a huge bubble tea fan. I buy it whenever I desire and honestly, that's pretty bad for my bank account (yes, I have a terrible money management, don't come at me). So imagine being offered a solution to satisfy my bubble tea cravings at home, of course I can't turn it down.
I love that it offers wide variation to choose from. Moreover, the steps are so detailed and thorough that I could picture myself following them as I make my own drink of choice without much difficulty. I am especially excited to try out baby bug, best friend, humanity first, and guilt trip. <3

Bubble tea and a quirky easy to follow book highlighting the basics. This is a must pick up for any boba fanatic.

Such a great little guide to boba and bubble tea. The recipes and guides are well written and explain everything well, and the illustrations are just adorable!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review! What an adorable, fun. and useful book! My sister and I adore getting bubble tea. It's always something we treat ourselves to when we get together! I can only imagine how much fun we'll have making these recipes! I'm definitely going to be purchasing this book for her and others as soon as I can. I think this book really makes for a great gift!
The recipes are easy to follow and the art makes each one seem like a must-try. It's just too cute to resist! There's so many really tasty looking drinks to choose from that I don't know where to start! Each description is well-written- the exact balance needed between informative and fun. I think the instructions are clear and could be followed by someone trying to make teas for the very first time. And I love the helpful little tips on some of the recipes as well. All around definitely think this book is well worth getting and trying out!
