This book didn't grip me I'm afraid.I found the characters wooden and one-dimensional. I also noticed confusing mistakes in the names. I thought Annie was rather like a Stepford wife, defined by housework and feeding people.

I was really disappointed by this novel.
Having read another couple of books by the author, and being excited by the premise of this one, I read it almost straight away.
The story lacked depth as a whole, and the dialogue in particular wasn’t well written - it came across very stilted and fake rather than flowing. There were no characters I warmed to, and I wasn’t invested in the storyline. It was also very predictable.
Completely missed the mark for me.

Omg...I said this out loud multiple times while reading this book! The plot itself was great, but the twists and turns were magnificent! This was my first read of this author and it will not be my last!

An enjoyable and suspenseful thriller in which a child’s body is discovered. Shortly after, adopted 9 year old, Jubilee goes missing, leading to the discovery of a series of missing children are all connected. I kept guessing who the kidnapper/murderer was until the very end!
Thank you NetGalley and Joffe Books for this ARC in exchange for my review! I will be reading more by this author.

This missed the mark for me. The writing lacked depth and emotion, and the dialogue was stilted. I know this is an advanced copy, but there were numerous errors (particularly with Josh vs Terry) that I can't believe made it this far into the book. The story was predictable overall, and I had the kidnappers identified way too early in the story. Characters were one dimensional, and I just couldn't connect with them.

I may be in the minority but I actually did enjoy this book. I really liked the storyline and the characters, I was constantly trying to suss the characters out which made me want to continue reading to the end.
The story follows Annie, a devoted mother to five kids whose children are growing up fast and are now young adults or teenagers. She has a lot of love to share so her husband David and her decide to adopt 9 year old Jubilee.
After three months, Jubilee goes missing, just as one of Annie’s son Josh’s best friend- Leah turns up dead after going missing. Now Jubilee is the 6th girl to go missing, will they find her in time? And what happened to the other 4 girls…

This book was not for me.
It’s full of basic pros, stunted dialogue and a million errors. The story was obvious from the beginning, I knew who the kidnappers were from the second chapter.
Every single character was flat. I’m sorry, I know this was someone’s hard work, but a lot more needs to be put into this book.
It took me so long to read it. I was forcing myself to finish it, on hopes it would get better. But even the reveal was lack luster.
The main error was the author kept writing Josh instead of terry when they were talking about Suzanna and her husband.
Thank you Netgalley and Joffee Publishers for giving me a chance to read and review this ARC!

A really quick and easy read. It is a decent thriller but very surface eleven. We don't have much depth from the characters and the conversations and reactions are a bit..... bland. It's a decent enough book but i wouldn't rush it to the top of my to be read pile

I can't say I loved this novel. The dialogue was stilted and unrealistic, and the ending was not particularly shocking. Probably appealing to those who devour thrillers, but not a stand out.

Amazing amazing book!!!! All of anyas books are sooooo good ....I didnt see the plot twist in this kept me going till the end!!!! Love love it million times

Annie and David have recently adopted 9 year old Jubilee. She is the youngest of their large family and so so loved. One morning they wake to find Jubilee missing. Annie is worried, especially since there have been a string of unsolved cases of missing girls in the area over the last several years. Most recently, their close friends' daughter, Leah. When Leah's remains are found, Annie is even more worried for Jubilee.
The writing style of this book lacked depth and emotion. For example, in one of the earlier chapters:
"Just that," I say. "We've been looking all over and she's nowhere to be found. I think our little girl is lost."
This is just one examples of the lack of emotion in the writing style. Their adoptive daughter has gone missing, literally the day after a body of a missing girl is found. There’s no sense of being frantic with worry. They could've been discussing the weather.
Leah wakes from being kidnapped and rather than be hysterical, she sits down and has breakfast??? She was way too calm for someone in her situation. The whole situation with the missing girls was a bit farfetched.
Lisa's daughter's remains are found and she's helping with the search and says she has been prepared for such an outcome. What kind of mother is prepared for something like that??? Lisa didn’t really seem that upset, and even later, when she was, it was unbelievable.
All that said, this book did a great job of keeping my attention. There was always something happening and I was reluctant to put it down. I found myself accusing every character in the story and was somewhat surprised at the end.
Throughout the book, I felt like the author was trying to tell or teach us something about overly religious sects (Quiverfull and the Duggars are mentioned). I wasn't quite sure where she was going with all of it and it ended up being pretty irrelevant, which I found odd.
I did enjoy the book, there was ONE particular thing that didn’t make sense to me but it is a spoiler so do not read past the next paragraph if you don't want to know.
Thanks to Netgalley and Joffee Books for providing the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
My one *spoiler* question is about Jubilee getting into the locked barn tunnel area. If it was unlocked and she fell in, why was it locked when Annie tried to get in????

Loved this book. Such an easy read that had lots of twists and turns along the way. Constantly guessing wrongly! Thanks for the chance to read this early.

I really enjoyed this thriller I have read a few of this authors books recently and they have all been fantastic and this on no exception. It was full of suspense and lots of twists and turns which definitely had me gripped until the very end. The characters were so well developed that you had to keep reading to find out how it was going to end highly recommended. Thanks to netgallery and the publisher for my advanced copy.

I enjoyed this book. It was a quick read with an unexpected ending. I'll definitely be looking out for more books from this author and would recommend them to other thriller fans.
The only negative was that there were a few parts where names were mixed up which was slightly confusing.(Suzannah's husband "Terry" and Annie's son "Josh" being mixed up were the two I noticed a few times.)

I have read a few books by Anya Mora and her books always draw me in instantly and leave me on the edge of my seat!

Annie wasn’t ready to stop being a stay-at-home mother, so she adopted a beautiful 9-yr-old girl, Jubilee, making them a family of 8. Life was mostly good, with slight hiccups that are normal after adopting a child that was in foster care. But their world instantly changes when Jubilee goes missing one night; not too long after a girl’s body has been discovered in their town. Jubilee is now missing girl number 6. Will they find her before it’s too late?
This book captivated me from the beginning and is definitely addictive. I couldn’t wait to keep reading to find out what was going to happen next. I guessed the twist and got it wrong 😂. Thanks to #netgalley for the ARC!!

I have read a few of Anya Mora’s books and they are alway brilliantly twisty - no exception here, a great plot line 👏🏻
I could really relate to Annie and the other women; having given their all to being devoted wives and mothers; now that their children are grown up, is that enough?
There was a lot religious obsession running alongside the main plot and I was wondering what the relevance of this would be to the story - it didn’t end up being relevant to the crime and it made me squirm a bit as it was verging on cult level.
Without that, it would have been another five star read for me, but I find the religious fantasy aspect too disturbing and it deflected my mind away from what was otherwise a very well planned out plot line.
3.5/4 ⭐️ Thanks to Netgalley, Anya Mora and Joffe for an ARC in return for an honest review.

This was a puzzling murder mystery that had me guessing until the end. But I didn’t find myself enthralled mainly because I found Annie’s reaction to everything rather annoying. Her lack of panic upon discovering Jubilee, her newly adopted daughter, missing was especially dumbfounding. Particularly given the circumstances of having just attended a wake for Leah, a friend of the family and girlfriend to one of Annie’s sons, whose mutilated body was just discovered. This on top of the information that there were other girls missing from the area. I also felt the conversations were stilted. And all those “I love you”s had me rolling my eyes. There was very little about the police procedures other than interviewing the families.
A disappointing read.

Wow wow wow! This book grabbed me from the beginning and never let up! Tons of suspense and many twists made this truly a wonderful book. I could not wait to find out who the kidnapper turned out to be- I thought I had it figured out but I was wrong! Definitely recommend-and I want to read more by this author. Thank you to NetGalley, Joffe Books and Anya Mora for the opportunity to read and review this ARC-highly recommend this book.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I absolutely loved this book where once again the author shows the power of a mothers love.
I raced through this desperate to know what had become of Jubilee.
