A lovely story to reassure you little one that no matter what, you're always by they're side. Nia loves stories about dragons and unicorns, brave princesses and faraway lands. Every night, Mum tucks her into bed, and they lose themselves in another wonderful adventure.
But what if, Nia asks, she gets kidnapped by a wicked witch? Or locked up by a terrible beast in a tower? Or stuck at the top of a beanstalk with a grouchy giant? Would Mum come and rescue her?
The answer to that is . 'YES, ALWAYS.'
Children need to know that a parent's/ guardian's love is unconditional and unwavering. This is such a wonderful portrayal of a mother's love and how, no matter what, they can always rely on you coming to rescue them, literally and metaphorically. It's a great prompt to discuss safety and safely explore different real-life scenarios which under other circumstances might be too frightening to discuss ( ie. What would you do if you were separated from your grown ups?)
The illustrations are gorgeous and we lose ourselves in the wonderful stories within the book!
This is a fabulous storyline in a picture book. A lovely way to show children that mum will always be there for them. Children will have a great discussion to predict how mum will rescue her from different places- I can imagine some very outlandish ideas coming up!
Wow. What a book! I read this book with my 4 boys, and everyone enjoyed it. The pictures are beautiful, and the writing was top notch; with the rhythm that keeps kids interested and engaged in a picture book. My kids used their prediction skills and comprehension skills throughout this book; that made it an educational, yet fun read.
In Three Words: fairytales, love, reassurance
If you're looking for a lyrical, bedtime story then this gorgeous picture book is really special. With stunning illustrations and a heart-warming message, it's perfect for snuggling under a blanket with and reminding little ones how much they are loved.
Nia and her mum love reading adventure stories and fairy tales together. But Nia has some questions. If the scenarios in the stories ever happened to her, would Mum come and find her? Even if she stumbled across a wicked witch in a gingerbread cottage or was about to be gobbled up by a grouchy giant?
But Mum wants to know what would happen if SHE ever got lost? Who would come and save her?
Told in beautiful, lyrical prose, this story draws on the fairy tales we know and love and twists them into a gentle tale of love and reassurance. Highlighting the special bond between a mother and daughter, it can also be used by any parent, grandparent, family relative or carer to help a child feel secure and settled before bedtime. We loved all the different settings and adventures, brought to life by the incredible illustrations, and it definitely left us with a lump in the throat and in need of a warm hug. Although real life doesn't always offer us the happy endings that fairy tales do, this shared story will empower readers, both young and old, with hope and the knowledge that they are special, unique and important.

Me and my daughter loved Once Upon a Storytime. What a lovely way to explore a mother's love and bond with her children. The story is well written and kept our attention, and the illustrations are beautiful. This would make a wonderful gift.

A lovely picture book about a love of reading and sharing a story with loved ones. Beautiful illustrations and an important message.
I read this book with my 6 year old daughter and we both really enjoyed it.
She was telling me the books that inspired the different parts of the story and was really enjoying guessing what might be coming next. I liked that it was a book that had a strong emphasis on the bond between the mum and the child in the story as well.
It was well written and had a lovely flow to the story.
The illustrations were lovely and really helped bring the story to life.
It is 5 stars from me for this one - highly recommended!
