A highly quality audio thriller that had me gripped from the very start. The story is told from kate"s pov and revolves around her husband. He is accused of a crime abroad but refuses to tell anyone the truth of where he was on that night. The impact of the lies on all those around him. Is a gripping listen.. it felt very a very quick listen. The narrator gave loads of emotion to the story and the interactions. The story is full of twists and turns and rhe finally reveal did satisy my gut feeling about olivia bit tied up the endings too quickly.
Thank you netgallery and publisher and author and narrator for a cracking 5 star listen
I really enjoyed this well thought out plot but I did feel for me it dragged out a bit in the second half. Fabulous narration.
My favorite Liz Lawler book to date, and that is high praise! I streamed this one straight through. It kept me up way too late. Very twisty, impossible to predict the ending, and I loved the main character. Narrator was a perfect match for content. Great pace, held my interest, excellent performance.
I really enjoyed the premise of the book and the narrator was great and easy to listen to. However, I didn't connect with the characters and felt a lot of the details and reactions weren't totally believable and the FMC was difficult to root for. I feel like the material and different directions the story went were present but the drama and emotions were a little lacking for me to connect with.
I have read and loved all of Liz Lawler's previous novels and could not wait to start My Husband's Lies and it did not disappoint at all. I loved it.
Her writing, for me, is interesting, easy to read, great characters and a brilliant storyline. She writes the perfect books for me.
We meet main character Kate, a highly respected doctor and her husband, Mark is an airline pilot. Both high-flyers in what they do with a gorgeous little boy, they seemingly have a perfect life. That is until Mark is questioned with a murder that took place in Barcelona, Mark is a suspect as the crew were staying over and Mark was spotted with the victim. Before Kate can try and help Mark, he is in a car accident and is badly injured.
We follow Kate as she tries to investigate what really happened as she does not believe that Mark has done the crime. I really enjoyed reading about Kate and how her mind worked, somethings - like a stranger looking after their son was farfetched for me but still a great read.
I really enjoyed this novel and really grateful I got an ARC in exchange for my review.
I listened to the audiobook and enjoyed the narrator, she has a strong, clear voice that makes it easy to understand. The storyline was twisty and entertaining. Highly recommend this one!
Really enjoyed this book! Didn’t expect the twist at the end, sometimes it’s predictable but it kept me guessing right until the end. Characters were likeable and I feel we got enough information and background about them all.
Nurse Kate is taken by surprise when the police show up at her door looking for her husband, airline pilot Mark, due to his possible connection with the murder of a young woman in Barcelona--the location of his most recent flight.
While Kate struggles to understand what happened, Mark is run down and lands in the ICU, leaving Kate to depend on Mark's coworkers and her own mother to keep life functioning as normal as possible for their son Jacob while Kate hunts for answers.
A twisty story of lies, deceit, and betrayal, the story is fast paced. While Kate wasn't my favorite character, and a few items were a bit too broad to figure out myself, the story was still worth the listen. Narration at 2x still conveyed emotion and was easy to listen to throughout.
Overall: 4 stars
I'll tell my students about: language, sex, alcohol, murder/death, child abuse, drugs

3.5 stars rounded up.
Enjoyed the narration and she did an excellent job.
Told mainly from Kate’s perspective with a few chapters from family friend Robert. Kate’s husband Mark is a pilot and is being questioned by police for a murder that happened in Barcelona but Kate just doesn’t feel he could be involved and goes to extremes to help prove his innocence. Before mark can answer many questions about the event he is struck in a hit and run, ends up in ICU. Kate accepts help from Olivia a co worker of Marks after long time family friend Robert vouches for her. Did find this strange, I’m not leaving my child with someone without knowing more about them, Kate’s naivety and gullibility were problems throughout the story for sure. Kate’s mother tries to warn her about Olivia but Kate doesn’t listen. Enjoyed listening and would listen to more by the author.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture audio for my advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.
A twisted tale of love, lies, deception, betrayal, murder and a whole lot of crazy. When Kates husband becomes a murder suspect she desperately wants to believe in his professed innocence. There is so much evidence that points to him and her friends who show up to help, it does nothing to actually help. Then he is attacked and though the police have ruled it an accident she knows something is amiss. A nicely woven psychological thriller that leads up to a very satisfying wrap up. Enjoyable narration added to the listening experience.
When police knocks on Kate's door she assumes that something has happened to her husband Mark, a pilot - but what is revealed by them is even more chilling. They are suspecting Mark of having murdered someone he has worked with and that too in Barcelona where he was seen during the new year's eve.
But Kate knows for sure that there's something missing, and she trusts her husband a lot - but as more evidence keeps mounting against him her opinion changes, and Mark's evasive behavior is not at all helping!
One day when she finds herself treating a patient and rattling off commands to her team to save him least does she realize it is someone she knows and her world comes crashing down. Her family and friends all come together to support her and there's a well wisher too in that who she starts to trust blindly.
Not expecting the worst at all, as she also has to prove her husband's innocence!
Fast, gripping and very well written - I am so glad I got to listen to Liz Lawler's book My Husband's Lies - thanks to netgalley, the author and Bookouture Audio for making this happen!
The narrator Gabrielle did an excellent job on this book! This book went at a steady pace through out and was a bit predictable at times but overall an enjoyable psychological thriller and would be a good choice for a fast and simple thriller. I would round this up to 3.75 stars. Thanks to netgalley for sending me this arc in exchange for my honest review.
Liz Lawler returns with her latest domestic suspense; MY HUSBAND'S LIES—a marriage is tested when a husband keeps a secret, but why? Who is he protecting, and why? Is someone setting him up for murder? It's a dangerous game of cat and mouse.
Mark is a respected airline pilot— and a perfect husband and father. Kate is a doctor, and they have a young son, Jacob.
A young blonde woman is murdered.
Mark is suspected of murder? Kate cannot believe this. What is Mark hiding? Why won't Mark tell the truth about where he was that night if he is innocent?
Robert steps in to help Kate care for her son with his friend Olivia. Then strange things are happening with Jacob. Can she trust them? What is their agenda?
Then Mark is attacked, and now Kate is sitting by his hospital bed. Was it an accident, or is someone trying to frame him for murder and now trying to kill him? Is he a murderer?
From lies and deception, MY HUSBAND'S LIES had a great setup; however, I felt it was too drawn out and repetitive, with Kate going over and over about why and trying to figure out what was happening.
I appreciated the author's inspiration for the story, and the narrator, Gabrielle Nellis-Pain, did a great job; however, the story lacked something and fell a little flat for me. It was alright; however, I was impatient with the story and how it was drawn out. Kate's character was highly irritating.

An intriguing prologue sets up the scene of an attack in an alley.
There is no doubt in Kate's mind that her husband, Mark, is not a murderer, but why is he being secretive about where he was that night then?
Robert is Mark's bff and co-pilot. When Mark is questioned about a woman killed while they were in Barcelona he steps in to help Kate care for her son, Jacob, along with his friend, Olivia.
You'd think that since Kate is a doctor that she'd make some smart choices, NOPE. She makes some pretty bad ones and you'll just want to yell at her quite a few times.
Overall, it moved along at a steady pace for me. It was pretty action packed at the end there and I was on the edge of my seat, but come on with the police at the 85% mark? What they did is highly unlikely.
Narration notes:
Gabrielle did a superb job. Totally frantic when she needed to be.
I listened to the audiobook of this one and I did really think the narrator did a great job, I know domestic thrillers can start to feel similar or follow patterns, but I felt like this one was a bit more predictable than it needed to be. The main character, Kate, was one of those protagonists that you spend the whole time wanting to shake and yell at since she seemed almost trying ti ignore all of the red flags around her. Overall it wasn’t a bad story, i just wanted a little more from the protagonist. Kate is horrified when she learns that her husband Mark is a suspect in a murder and the worst part is that he won’t tell her where he was during the crime. Just before Mark can be arrested he is hit by a car and hospitalized. When Mark’s best friend and coworker, Robert, brings another colleague Olivia, to help Kate can’t say no since she feels overwhelmed. Soon Olivia is living in her home and taking care of her 5 year old son Jacob full time, Overall I gave this one 3.5 stars rounded down for the sheer volume of the times I wanted to throw my phone down when Kate was too dumb.
My Husband’s Lies
By Liz Lawler
Narrated by Gabrielle Nellie-Pain
Book 4/5 stars
Narration 4.5/5 stars
This was an incredible psychological thriller. There is something about a thriller when it’s on audio book. I literally had to pause it a few times to try and piece the pieces together. Which I wasn’t able to do. Mark an airplane pilot and suspected of killing a young woman. Kate his wife is dumbfounded and tries to put the pieces together to clear her husband. Things start to spiral once Mark is questioned by the police, the plot definitely thickens from this point on. There was blow after blow, it’s not until the very end you get the whole picture.
The narrator was amazing, she had a wonderful British accent. She read flawlessly. I loved the way you could hear the tense moments in her voice. The narrator Gabrielle was quite perfect for this book.
I highly recommend this book if you are into psychological thrillers.
My Husband's Lies by Liz Lawler
Kate is an ER doctor and married to the love of her life Mark, a pilot and they have a 5 year old son Jacob. They seem to have the perfect marriage until the cops are at her door accusing Mark of murder of a former coworker in Barcelona.
Very soon after this, Mark is struck by an unknown car and left for dead and in a coma.
His best friend Robert and colleague Olivia step into help Kate out. But are they really who they say they are?
The police don't seem to be getting any answers so it's up to Kate to search for the truth .
There are alot of twists and turns in the book and keeps you guessing until the very end.
It was a fast read and a good thriller.

Loved this book. Everything else stood still as I listened to this tale. My next object is to look for another book written by this author. Thank you for the opportunity to listen to this. A tale of love, murder and entrapment.
3.5 stars
My Husband's Lies is a psychological thriller that plunges readers into a labyrinth of deception and suspense. From the opening pages to the final, it's a tale of secrets, betrayal, and the unraveling of a seemingly perfect life.
The story follows Kate, whose world is shattered when her strait-laced husband, Mark, becomes the prime suspect in a murder. Convinced of his innocence, Kate is in a race to prove Mark's innocence. As she peels back the layers of deception, the narrative takes unexpected twists, keeping the reader guessing and second-guessing every character's motives.
But...is Mark innocent? How is he connected to the beautiful woman he's accused of murdering?
Along the way, we meet Mark's friend Robert, who's harboring a secret of his own. And Mark's co-worker Olivia, who renders help to Kate in her time of need. However, everything is not as it seems.
The author skillfully plays with the reader's emotions, building a sense of unease and suspense that intensifies with every page.
The plot is a carefully constructed puzzle. The well-timed reveals and unexpected developments make it an interesting read.
That being said, I didn't find many of the characters likable. Especially the FMC, her naivety is unbelievable; she ignored the red flags, thus putting her son's life in danger.
Thanks to Netgalley, Bookouture Audio, and the author for my free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
My Husband's Lies was a bit predictable but I enjoyed it overall. I love a good "who-done-it." The characters were engaging, for me the setting was exotic, and the killer was not who most people would have thought. A nice balance of action and intrigue.
