I received an ARC copy of this book from the Publisher via Netgalley and voluntarily leaving my review.

Danica is investigating a case of five missing girls and is having hard time finding any leads. Lyra is visiting her brother when one day she out running and stumbles on bones and knows their more then one person she offers to help forensic anthropologist Dr. Eleanor. As theses women investigate things gets awkward between them when feelings get in the way. I enjoy all three leads love the pacing of the story and seeing the pov of the killer and I wouldn’t mind seeing an another book with theses three women.

I was really looking forward to this one! It was an excellent “who done it” and kept me guessing.

I felt sad for the person left out of the romance. I wish the author had given that person a partner!!

The Murders at Sugar Mill Farm are actually a group of bones that are found on the farm. How many people do the bones belong to and what actually happened to the people?

Danica is a detective who has been on a missing persons case. Lyra is the bio-archaeologist who finds them. Eleanor is the former lover of Danica who joins the search for justice for the people who it appears were murdered.

There is a bit of a love triangle, and I felt bad for the woman who gets left out but that was a personal wish. lol.

Anyway, this is a nice read

This story is set in southern Louisiana revolves around detective Danica, bioarcheologist Lyra, and forensic anthropologist Eleanor. The trio's quest to solve missing person cases and unearth buried secrets keeps you on the edge of your seat. The well-woven storyline, combined with the emotional depth of the characters, delivers a satisfying blend of mystery and thriller action. The love triangle adds to the story but definitely leaves you heart-broken. I really wish there was some resolution there or even a throuple because man that romance aspect was rough. Either way this is a story worth the read.

Quite a good whodunit. A slight love triangle between Lyra, Danny and Eleanor. One has to be left alone. Would have liked if author had brought in the possibility of a partner for the one left out. I liked the romance in it. I'm not too into this if it gets too hot and steamy. At my age I like to stay calm although on saying that I felt the serial killer side of it was not as nail biting as it could have been. I enjoyed it overall.

Louisiana police detective Danica Wallace meets archeologist Lyra Asrden when the woman trips and discovers human bones in a field.

Lyra finds herself very attracted to the driven detective, but the situation is complicated by the forensic examiner being Danica's ex, Eleanor.

Good read, good mystery. While there's a romantic subplot, the focus of the book is the murder mystery. Likeable, vivid characters, suspenseful, and a satisfying resolution.

(4.5 Stars) Danica Wallace is trying hard to solve a mystery of five missing girls in her Louisiana Parish. She has no real leads until Lyra Aarden finds bones while out jogging. As a bioarcheologist she knows they are from more than one person. She is visiting her brother while recovering from a car accident and offers to help forensic anthropologist Dr. Eleanor Stafford in processing the bones. It makes for an awkward trio as Danny and El were once a couple.

This is a good police procedural novel. Danny quickly follows up any lead she is given. The tension heightens as chapters from the killer’s POV are included in the storyline. The novel is a slow burn for romance and makes you guess for a while where Lyra’s attentions will fall. I liked the three lead women. Because of the pace of the novel their backstories and current lives are covered briefly but enough to feel a connection to each. I have had mixed reviews on past books from Black. But I enjoyed this quick mystery/thriller/romance. And if these characters land another case I would gladly read it.

Thank you to Bold Strokes Book., Inc for the ARC via NetGalley and I am leaving a voluntary review.
