I hated Hannah. I hated Hannah so much, I'm not actually sure why I finished the book. Every single thing about Hannah annoyed me, to the point where I almost wanted her to fall victim to the serial killer. I was so relieved when I finished the book and could forget everything about Hannah. I wish I could recommend this book, but I hate Hannah too much.

I received a copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review

Ditch the hum drum and head off to see your new obsession face murder charges….. this kinda stuff really does happen though 😂 I did enjoy the book but can’t get my head around being obsessed with a serial killer… Then again, I do find documentaries riveting but saddening. It’s just another “why” in our strange world though - why hurt another? Why hurt many? Thank goodness we have great authors to escape to :)

Really enjoyed this book - Hannah’s life isn’t quite going to plan dead end job no boyfriend and no prospects she finds herself on an online forum about a suspect thought to be a serial killer. . Next thing she’s writing to him in prison and a bond is formed despite the fact she thinks he’s guilty after losing her job she travels to attend the trial . A good storyline with quite a dark comedy edge

Obsessed for a serial killer. I was hooked on this book from the beginning but just waited too long for the climax and disappointed at the end of it.

I guessed who the serial killer was half way through the book

Thank you to Netgalley and Orion Publishing

Unfortunately this is not for me, I found the FMC very annoying and attention seeking.
I really tried to push through but it wasn’t working 🥶.
The writing was all over the place and got confusing at some points.

I was hoping but definitely didn’t see any chemistry between them (just because someone responds to your letter isn’t reason enough to be obsessed over him).

Thanks to @netgalley for a copy of this ARC.

A couple of years ago a local murder case from 20 years prior was reopened and I found out that the killer had lived in my house during that time and was the prime suspect for this murder. Not only was this guy a suspect but was a notorious serial killer from the area. And he lived IN MY HOUSE. It was quite a shock and opened up my kind of creepy curiosity of serial killers and I got slightly obsessed for awhile. I really enjoyed this book because I understood how easily Hannah got swept away in the trial and then in the suspect himself. I devoured this book in a day and a half! I won't say that I liked Hannah but I definitely understand how she got herself into the situation she was in and I found myself really pitying her and her trainwreck of a life.

I was puzzled at the start of this book to where it was going and I found it quite a slow burn, but once I got into it, I was hooked and found it was clever and addictive as well as darkly menacing. I enjoyed reading this.

I was obsessed with this. It was so engaging and exciting and I was pleasantly surprised when my theories came true but I was still left with my mouth open at the turn of events. I was hooked and so enraptured with Hannah and the choices she made.

I loved that William was a Swiftie, it's such a small detail but it was just something that stuck with me throughout for no real reason. I felt that the characters were humanised and Hannah was a relatable protagonist as well as a laugh out loud hilarious voice. This book follows her down a questionable life path and she was so easy to follow, I loved the elements of true crime buffs and feel that despite being set in the US (and me being from the UK), there wasn't a lot that stuck out for a divide between setting. I found that it was easy to slip into the narrative and feel part of the trial and the investigations on social media as Hannah did.

It was a really fast-paced book and I was desperate to get to the end, as the narrative flipped between present and past although this was unexpected it was the perfect way to build tension throughout the book and force the reader to carry on reading. I was so invested in knowing who William was and loved how the Coryell, chose to reveal him through his letters to Hannah and through different people during his trial, we were given a biased and distorted view of the characters and I was living for it desperate to know who the real versions.

The side characters in Hannah's life were an extension of her and reinforced her as a relatable woman, despite an age difference from the character and myself, which is something I try to avoid in books so not to feel to distant from my protagonist, I felt that Hannah was still a really accessible character and was incredibly funny and real.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and found that it fit perfectly within my era of crime with comedy, perfect for fans of Katy Brent.

Hannah is the sort of woman who gets used by men. As a result she has zero self-esteem and zero expectations. She will do anything to get men to like her and her last relationship was no different. To top it all her best friend has met someone and is getting married, so Hannah feels totally on her own. At this point with nothing going on in her own life she gets fixated on a murder case and then the good looking man who is going on trial for the murders of several women. Hannah writes to William in prison and is on a forum that discusses the murders when William writes back and eventually as the correspondence continues he asks her to be his girlfriend. As Hannah has had very few men show any interest in her she readily agrees. Hannah tries to investigate the murders herself not sure what to believe. As she gets too involved with the family of the accused man, William, you want her to stop prying as you feel it will only end in disaster for her but she appears to have no fear. This story is very bleak and it is difficult to like any of the characters, including Hannah, William and the rest of this family. Despite this the story draws you in and you want to know what is going to happen. The ending is surprising! Thanks to NetGalley for allowing me an ARC of this book.

I was given a free pre release copy of this book to read. It follows the story of a girl obsessed by a serial killer and it covers her fantasies, meeting his family, and other people she meets along her journey.

It was a delightful book to read and kept one wanting to go back too find out what happens next. A great holiday read.

Love Letters to a Serial Killer had a fantastic concept, and I was delighted to receive an ARC from NetGalley!

I would highly suggest not reading the synopsis. I read it after finishing the book, and I know that I wouldn’t have enjoyed it as much, as it just gives away too much information.

For me, William’s trial for murder took way too long. I wanted to know the outcome and what would happen next, but that only happened at about 60% in. And that’s when the story truly began for me.

Hannah develops a strange obsession, which ventures her into risky territory. Despite not taking a liking to Hannah, her way of thinking was very interesting, and I think she’s the first character with the ‘Bonnie and Clyde syndrome’ that I’ve read about.

Love Letters to a Serial Killer is definitely a great pick for crime thriller enthusiasts, but not the ideal read if you want a bigger focus on the characters’ life with a serial killer.

Ooh, I do like a bit of dark humour and a less than perfect protagonist - and Tasha Coryell serves up both with great style. Love Letters to a Serial Killer is a pacy read with sparky one-liners and an irresistible set up. Confused, adrift and disappointed in love (and in herself), Hannah becomes obsessed with a suspected serial killer. Swiftly divested of her lacklustre job and even less appealing boyfriend, she ups sticks and heads off to watch the trial, having already started a dubious correspondence with the man on trial, William. As Hannah digs deeper into the case - and finds herself drawn into William's influential family - things get more dubious still. No spoilers here, but if you like your crime fiction delivered with whip-smart humour, you'll love this rollercoaster of a read.

Such an easy read. Would recommend this. Very light hearted. I enjoyed this and it is a unique way to tell a story. I find it very entertaining and would recommend.

Love Letters to a Serial Killer by Tasha Coryell is a glorious thriller based on the hyper-fixation that people can develop on notorious criminals. This increase is reflected on media and social media, wherein past decades, we may have had TV documentaries and series on True crime once a week, but now we can access it on the daily and my life, it is fascinating! However, at times, it can go too far and this is where we meet Hannah

Hannah is bored and disillusioned. Her firends have all booked it out of town and built careers and families and she is left behind, adrift, no relationship, no career. She becomes intrigued by a criminal case regarding a Serial Killer and decides to vent her spleen about her lot in life by writing him a letter when he is captured and incarcerated. To her great surprise and wholly unexpected, he replies

Hannah irritated the bejilikers out of me at the beginning. I can't even. The pity party irked me to no end, but then you begin to see something deeper, her chronic loneliness and isolation leading to depression and a desperate search for human connection, any connection, to the point that sense deserts her

Coryell is a phenomenal author and I really enjoyed the twists and turns in this thriller, as well as the wry humour in the observations. The strength in this writing, is that the reader goes on a journey of loving annd hating the characters in equal measure, giving them humanity and relatability. (ot in the murdery sense, that's terribly anti-social) Solid 5 stars

Thank you to Tasha Coryell, Berkley, and Netgalley for the arc in exchange for my honest review.

Hannah works (barely) for a nonprofit. She lives alone in a shabby apartment and is unlucky in love, shall we say. She falls in love so easily then is too clingy and men ghost her or its just a one time thing. When a body is discovered she falls down the rabbit hole of a forum 'investigating' with all the other true crime fanatics. Me being one! More bodies are found and William is accused. Handsome, wealthy William. Hannah takes a fancy to him and writes him in prison...a love story with a twist. Did William do it? Can Hannah stop trying to find out or will she be the next body?

This one's hard to put into words because Hannah isn't all that likeable. None of them are. But I still kept turning the pages to find out what happened next. I enjoyed it.

This story is crazy.
Its a dark and compelling thriller.
I didn't like Hannah that much but kept reading and it turned out a great read.

I felt immersed in this book from the start, you are brought straight into to the intensity as you discover the relationship with a serial killer straight away and this is only built up as you discover more darkness and secrets. One of my favourite reads so far of 2024.

A unique and gripping thriller that keeps you guessing until the very end with its unpredictable twists and complex characters

This book was great! From the bad choices made by Hannah, again and again and again (which had me mentally yelling at her), to William's strange detachment, and the twists throughout the book, I thoroughly enjoyed this.
