An oddly compelling five-star read. This is one of those stories that you really don’t know how to take for most of the story, this really does make your mind run away with itself, and even after reading the whole thing, I still don’t know what to think of it. I did guess the murder, but honestly, I think I guessed most of the characters. Hannah will make you want to shake her; she will also make you want to pat her on the back and cheer her along her journey. This really does take a couple of twists and makes you think of the other side of true crime, the side of the victims and that the side we should all be listening from.
What to say about this book?! Well frankly the premise was bat-#@£% crazy yet enthralling. Hannah has been ghosted by her ex and when news of a suspected serial killer catches her attention she forms an unlikely relationship, writing to him in jail.
I did work out the outcome about midway through but this didn't detract from my enjoyment of the book.

“Love Letters to a Serial Killer” by Tasha Coryell is a dark and irresistibly compelling thriller. The story revolves around an aimless young woman who begins writing letters to an accused serial killer while he awaits trial. The tension builds as their correspondence becomes more intimate, and the lines between obsession, danger, and desire blur. Coryell weaves a gripping narrative that keeps readers on the edge, exploring themes of obsession, justice, and the complexities of human connection. If you enjoy psychological thrillers with unexpected twists, this book is worth diving into!
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
When Hannah begins writing to a man accused of multiple murders she places herself in danger!! Her life is a complete mess and her self esteem is low. She finds community in an online forum dedicated to solving the murders of a number of women found dumped in a ravine. But even when she appears to find love, she can’t give up her search for truth.
This book had the perfect level of dark humour. Narrated by Hannah, we follow her story from the first murder, to writing to William, to the trial, to their relationship. Is he really a killer? Witty and sharp.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.
I read the whole thing in two settings, so it’s clearly gripping! The protagonist in this book isn’t meant to be likable, but you sort of can’t help rooting for her, which is pretty unique. it’s funny and horrifying and full of moments of bathos. I recommend to anyone who’s ever listened to a true crime podcast.
The title of this book was the thing that immediately caught my attention. Something different I thought and intriguing, who writes to serial killers? Why? What’s in it for these women? All questions asked by the people attending the trial of William Thompson, the man accused of murdering four women. Hannah finds herself mesmerised by the story of the women and finds herself writing letters to the accused William.
I enjoyed watching the story unfold and waiting to see if William would be imprisoned or worse put on death row. There were some interesting characters and also some I wasn’t a fan of. I found Hannah quite annoying and childish with her teenager like obsession with William. It did however make for good reading. I guessed pretty early on the twist but it didn’t stop me enjoying it.
when people say this is the most hotly anticipated thriller debut of 2024, they are most definitely not joking!
"Because how blissfully happy can you really be if you're worried you might be your fiancé's next victim? And what if William's innocent - just an ordinary man who loves her? Will she still want him if he is?"
the premise of this book is so interesting, genius, twisted and will really have you questioning yourself, and your morals. how far would you go?
I really enjoyed how the characters were written, and I must agree with other readers in that the character development was truly excellent.
the story was also really well developed, with some fantastic twists and turns. I love when a book can make me feel crazy, and just when I think I've caught on something else happens that makes me question everything ...
This book is unlike anything I’ve ever read, it’s a romance/thriller that has you hooked on your seat from the getgo . I can’t wait for this book to be out, so I can discuss it with more friends.
So after reading the reviews before I read the book I wasn’t sure what to expect. However I am pleased to say this book grew on me!
The character development was fabulous and Hannah’s story developed with some decent twists and turns. Just when you think you have it worked out something comes along to make you change your mind.
If you are sitting around wondering if it’s a worth while read…. Give it a go! This just might surprise you…. Don’t judge it by its cover or reviews!
Unfortunately not the book for me.
I’m sure other readers will enjoy this book but it was not for me. The characters were unlikeable, the pacing was a bit of and didn’t enjoy the ending.
Like I said I’m sure others will love this book and it’s writing style but it’s just not for me.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to have an ARC in return for an honest review.
Provocative and frustrating, but I can't recall ever reading a plot like this. The characters are well rounded, with realistic eccentricities, and pointless behaviours showing a 'human-ness' in them - Tasha isn't afraid to write unlikeable characters! The final third is not as strong, and is a little bit confusing, but still worth it!
A brilliant and fascinating psychological thriller. I was captivated by Hannah's journey. - The letter writing., the forum posts and her amateur sleuthing.
Her relationship with a serial killer was complex and nuanced.
Such an emotive, powerful and poignant novel perfect for fans of true crime.
I’m sure many readers will love this book, but I didn’t. Nothing about it excited or thrilled me. Unlikeable characters, a silly plot, and a disappointing end. Thanks to Net Galley and the publishers for the early copy and I’m sorry I can’t recommend it.
Well this is something different. What a strange obsession Hannah has! Took me a little while to get into this but so glad i did. A dark and gripping read. My thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my copy.
I was really excited to start this as I thought it would be a promising read, however the pacing seemed all-over the place as if the FMC was rumbling. It was a struggle to read and unfortunately I ended up DNFing the book.
However I think some readers might enjoy this style of writing.
Thanks to NetGalley and Berkley Publishing Group for providing me with an advance copy of this book for an honest review.
OMG !!!!! This book was amazing if I could give it ten stars I would! I was hooked from the beginning and it wasn't what I expected atall !!!
I fell in love with hannah I thought her character was brilliant, the story had so many twists and even though I thought I had predicted the end I didn't!!!
If there's one thing you do this year make sure it's reading this book !!!
Absolutely brilliant, funny and explosively good. 5 stars through and through loved it all, excellent twists, turns and quips. Going to be huge this year, make way.......
I’ll be honest, I didn’t finish this book completely but I will still give 3 stars. I genuinely enjoyed the story a lot and Hannah’s character was very interesting. I definitely wanted to know more about it and how it ends but sadly I had two issues that didn’t make it pleasing to finish. One was that, I know it’s an ARC, but the format for kindle was messed up and very unsatisfying for the eye. The other one was that the writing style just didn’t fit my vibe sadly. I do think the author has great potential as I did like the storyline and characters but it just wasn’t for me! Thank you for the arc though, I appreciated it lots.
This book had promise! I was gripped from the first sentence and I was excited to continue the story. But the momentum could not continue and I was struggling to read this. Unfortunately, the book was not my cup of tea and I dnf’d it. However, I can see other readers enjoy this story.
Many thanks to netgalley, the author and publisher for approving my request to read this book.
Love letters to a serial killer really intrigued me from the first chapter. It follows Hannah who becomes obsessed with William who is awaiting trial for the murder of four women. After joining an online forum about the murders and becoming ever more obsessed Hannah decides to write William a letter.
What follows is a fast paced thriller with a healthy dose of dark humour which I enjoyed. I was however a bit disappointed with the ending as I thought it was very predictable and let the book down slightly but overall an enjoyable read.
