A funny picture book. Children will love looking at the pictures to spot the clues that the knight has missed.
A very cute and silly book about a knight trying to find a dragon. I can see a lot of kids enjoying this story.
This was a very cute little story about an incompetent knight on the search for a dragon. My kids thought it was hilarious and I loved the illustrations!
A cute story about an arrogant knight who can’t see the literal dragon right in front of his eyes. Very silly and cute. Written with some older language styles.
A Cute fun adventure following a knight in shining armor and his trusty steed as they search for the fabled dragon with a map purchased from Ye Olde Shoppe. Had a blast reading this and will definitely recommend my library purchase to place in our Once Upon a Time section in the Children's room. Perfect for children who love daring adventures, funny knights, and DRAGONS!
This was a very cute, funny and adorable read. I read this to my youngest and they really enjoyed this read so much, they commented how the pictures looked awesome and how hilarious it was.
This is the fun story of a knight on the hunt for a dragon. The hunt turns out to be more challenging than the knight thinks it will be as he is unable to find something in front of him. The author uses humor throughout the knight's tale. I absolutely loved the images. As a 4th grade teacher though, I know students would struggle with some of the word choices due to a lack the prior knowledge of common Old English sayings. Overall it was a fun read and could be added to a classroom library. Kids would get a kick out of the story and would love seeing how much the knight is missing.
A hilarious read and a great reminder of how sometimes we can miss the forest for the trees! Loved the story within the illustrations that added another layer to the overall story of the knight and his quest for a dragon.
This was SUCH a cute read! and the artwork was amazing! My son and I had to laugh at the oblivious knight. I think that was my sons favorite part, finding the map clues while the Knight struggled! Absolutely a book I would purchase for his book collection! My only critique is with some of the language. At times I found myself stumbling over the words since I was reading it out loud, but I think that would improve with practice.
I got a couple of good chuckles at this one, but I don't think it's going to stick with me. If your kid is in to How To Train Your Dragon but isn't old enough to read those, this might be a good pick.
This book is:
* Filled with fantastic and hilarious illustrations
* A story about a V E R Y clueless Knight on a great adventure
* Filled with many things to discover on every page [WAIT until you see the first two pages!! Hilarious]; you could spend several readings just finding all the funny things in all of the illustrations [I imagine that the illustrator had a really fun time hiding all these funny things - at least I hope he did!]
It is also a good lesson in how sometimes in trying to find something leads you to missing the very thing you are looking for and how paying attention to what is actually around you and not what you THINK you are looking for is so very important.
This was a really great read that littles and their readers will enjoy over and over again. Very well done!
Thank you to NetGalley, Susannah Lloyd, Paddy Donnelly - Illustrator, and Quatro Publishing Group/Frances Lincoln Children's Books for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was an enchanting and silly tale told from the POV of a Knight. He searched high and low for the forgotten dragons but alas, he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Every good fantasy story starts with a map! This was such a clever story with a fun twist on the classic "knight saves princess from dragon" tale. The illustrations were bright and beautiful, and I loved the way they spanned across the full page spread. Such a fun adventure to read with my son!
I read this with my family before bed time and this was for a bit of an older audience. Solid read.
Thank you netgalley for the opportunity to read thus.
This book is fantastic! I cannot praise the hilarious suspense building, incredible prose, and suspenseful illustrations enough.
My copy was lent to upstairs' kids, and came back dog-eared and loved. I was given feedback that it is the youngest twin's all time favourite book. Can't get better feedback than that!
This was a fun and hilarious story! The illustrations are gorgeous and overflowing with detail. One of those books where each time you read it you'll notice something different in the pictures. The pacing and amount of text is great for reading with young children. I could absolutely see my kiddos loving this book. The medieval language is a bit tongue in cheek and could be fun to narrate reading out loud. It may require a little translation for younger kids who aren't familiar with some of the words.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review an eARC.
Young fans of fantasy and fun will enjoy this light-hearted romp with a clueless knight who is out to slay a dragon. His map is quite instructive and tells him what to look for, but alas, he's too busy looking at his map to see the danger he's in. Thankfully the maiden in distress saves herself, fights off the dragon, and saves the day. The illustrations in this fun and quirky story will draw in the young reader as they go along on this magical quest.
This book is about a silly little knight who is determined to find a dragon with a map that says, ‘Here be Dragons’. He is so focused on the map that he doesn’t notice the dragon directly in front of him.
Here Be Dragons is so silly it’s cute! I can’t wait to read it to my kids. I just know they will love it and find the knight just as silly as I did.
Thank you to Frances Lincoln Children’s Book, Susannah Lloyd, and NetGalley for giving me this E-arc and allowing me to give my honest review.
Eh it was fun. The language was fun for me as the parent to read out loud but didn’t mean a whole lot to my kid. The knight was oblivious
Thank you Frances Lincoln Children's Books!
HOW CUTE! I love the silly story and the very detailed artwork. The artist threw little Easter eggs in each page, so it's fun to just pause and look at every detail added. What a fun book to gift to the little kiddos in your life!
