What fun! Poor misguided hero looks and looks for a dragon to slay but he can't find the one just in front of him!
Well suited for reading WITH someone of any age including ESL, and great for gifting to anyone, but especially to a school or your local public library!
The illustrations by Paddy Donnelly are imaginative, detailed, colorful, and great fun.
I requested and received a free temporary e-book on Adobe Digital Editions from Quarto Publishing Group – Frances Lincoln Children's Books/Frances Lincoln Children's Books via NetGalley. Thank you!
I was surprised by the ending, which was hilarious. The illustrations are very excellent. I enjoyed it and hope to gift a copy to my nephew when the book is released.
Thank you NetGalley for providing me with this arc in exchange for my honest review.
This started of so hilarious and with the most amazing detailed illustrations!!
But it took the joke where our main character is completely blind to any (very clear) signs of a dragon (and even having a dragon right in front of him, without seeing it) a bit too far.
It was nice and fun but it would have been better in my opinion, if our knight did notice the in his face dragon at some point. The girlpower at the end was great tho!
This was so funny and clever! I love how the silly knight didn't even notice what was going on and that it was the damsel in distress that ended up defeating the dragon.
This is a hilarious little book about knight searching for dragons. My 2 year old loved the knight's commentary as he searched high and low to find a dragon to prove they were in fact real. The illustrations are delightfully simple and well done.
This was a fun story. I enjoyed the medieval language and the overall concept of the story. The illustrations were attention grabbing as well!
Fun, cavorting silliness in a ye-olde-English style. This book is an entertaining reminder to practice a bit of mindfulness in our daily lives.
Dragons. Everybody loves dragons from children to adults boys and girls. I think the premise of this book is brilliant however the “older” language and style of the writing maybe a little complex for some. I imagine this would be read wonderfully in a classroom to the children but I wonder if some children may struggle to read it alone.
This book made me laugh - and I was very pleased to see who the really hero(ine) of the book is.
The illustrations are clever - the knight can't find a dragon anywhere, but hopefully the reader will spot one.
I'll be putting this on a wishlist for when my daughter is a bit older and can help me find dragons.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced ebook copy in exchange for an honest review.
I received an electronic ARC from Quarto Publishing Group – Frances Lincoln Children's Books through NetGalley.
A humorous look at a knight searching for a dragon. Readers will spot the dragon hiding in plain sight as this knight searches diligently. Don't miss the horse's reactions as it sees the dragon. Also note who rescues the damsel in distress. Lloyd's joy in writing this book shines through. The artwork is detailed and colorful and the dragon blends in completely. A fun story to teach about studying the details to see beyond the obvious.
Very cute book. I loved the illustrations. The detailing in the tavern/square was a great touch. This is definitely ones my boys would find funny. My only issue was I didn't really get what "verily" meant. All the other seemed pretty standard Old English but that one stumped me.
Thank you to Quarto Publishing for my copy in exchange for a honest review.
That was such a cute and funny book. I read this book too my three year old and he was laughing the whole time and loved the dragon.
Here Be Dragons by Susannah Lloyd, is a fun, hilarious book about a Knight who goes out to find a dragon, (cause how hard can it be, he has a map!) even though people tell him there is no such thing as a dragon. What ensues is Mr. Knight dragging his poor horse through mountains and snow, looking for something that seems to be RIGHT under his nose. A feisty damsel in distress tops this off for me with her no nonsense attitude. The illustrations are beautiful and full of little surprises if you know where to look. I re-read this book with my son and it also got a 10 year old's stamp of approval. This book can be enjoyed by all ages. Thank you NetGalley for the E-ARC and the chance to read and enjoy this book while at the same time being able to help the Author our with an honest review.
5 plus plus.
This is hilarious, Each page is full of detail and humor, some you have to pay attention and notice that the joke continues on the next page or in the background. This knight doesn't believe in dragons, but he can't notice them even when he walks into the mouth of one of them. It's up to another character (not the horse but he knows more than this knight) to save him. It will be one of my favorite picture books for a long time. Can't wait to collect it once it's out.
Awesome artwork, page design, and good font size.
Thank you, publisher and Netgalley for this e-Arc.
Such an adorable story with incredible illustrations! The cozy vibes for a children's book is unmatched in this one, with our ambitious and dreamer knight going on an adventure to find a dragon.
The delightful and funny inner monologue of the Knight kept me laughing throughout. And my most favourite thing about this book? The magical, detailed and lush illustrations. They are so gorgeous and full of color you feel like you can almost touch them.
Here Be Dragons by Susannah Lloyd is about a knight that is on a quest to find a dragon. His fellow knights have told him that dragons aren't real, but with his "genuine" map from the local village shop, the knight just knows that he'll find a dragon and prove everybody else wrong.
The detailed illustrations in this book really make the story! I especially love the illustration of the village shop at the beginning. Additionally, observant young readers will be able to spot the dragon early in the story...it would be a lot of fun to use this book with a small group or a whole class and see when listeners notice the dragon. Young readers will delight in the fun, good-natured humor presented through the story. This book will make a great read aloud for parents, caregivers, teachers, and librarians!
Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group for the opportunity to review an eARC of this title.
This is a really cute book for young children who are interested in dragons. Has some nice humor and great illustrations.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read and review this ARC.
Complete laugh out loud nonsense.
Children will compete with their carers, parents and guardians as they read this wonderful book to laugh and blow bubbles of snot down their noses.
A buffoon for a knight who is determined to out smart his peers by finding and slaying a dragon like the best examples in ye olde stories of chivalry. With his trusty stead, the latest armour, he has one last advantage - a map.
Not just any roll of parchment but a topographical masterpiece with even an X marking the spot where “Here be Dragons”.
The book follows his insane adventure and will delight and leave all in fits of giggles.
Beautifully illustrated with more jokes per page than you can shake a stick at. A knight’s quest, a heraldic journey with map in hand and devoid of any common sense.
It will be fun each time you read it and on each new occasion you will see fresh and exquisite details of humour and joy.
This one had cool illustrations and the story idea of a fun adventure looking for dragons was cool.
The language is definitely too dialectly for kids to read. I could see kids getting frustrated trying to understand the words they are trying to read.
But this would be great for any grown up ren faire enthusiast to read aloud to children. They’d get a kick out of it.
We loved all the small details within this book! The illustrations offered so much to look at. We love dragons and this book was great for that!
