Thank you NetGalley and Boldwood Books for an early copy of the Girl in Seat 2A. Where did this author come from?????? Oh my gosh she’s right up there with Frieda McFadden and Daniel Hurst!! This was one of the BEST BOOKS I HAVE EVER READ and believe me I read ALOT!!!! Heart pounding, gasping out loud, mind boggling plot. I NEVER EXPECTED this story. You will never be able to put this one down, my new GO TO AUTHOR!!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Brilliant. I read this book in one sitting as I could not put it down. Loved all the characters, especially Jade and Issac. The plot was very well constructed, and the storyline twisted along with you not knowing who to trust. I loved the way it told the story from Jade and Marta's prospective as it gave greater insight, especially about Marta’s and Pablo’s relationship. Such an excellent read.
This book grips you from the very first page and pulls you in until the end! What a book!
Jade won money on a scratch card and is living the millionaires lifestyle. She books a flight to Spain where she meets Isaac on the plane a Brad Pitt look alike. After a week in her hotel he asks her to move into his villa for a few days, has she bagged herself a millionaire? Isaac begins to show his true colours, will Jade manage to escape his clutches? A rollercoaster read!
This book, you know? Forget everything you think you know about psychological thrillers. Also, forget all your ideas about what happy(-ish?) endings should look like. Forget it all. Throw all those ideas out. This book is here to raise the bar of insanity, to add more layers to already good twists, and then to make you holler as you read the last pages of the book (and if you happen to not be living alone, be ready for the other people of your household ask you all sorts of weird questions about your apparently odd behavior).
The book started out weirdly. I always get seriously angry when I read someone else’s review saying that some book’s main character was dumb, but this time it was me. I was super busy labeling the MC dumb. Super dumb, even.
Yeah, there was one part that still puzzles me and strikes me as odd, like, ok, we get it, you are afraid of flying, yeah, but airport workers have seen it all and you are not that unique. No one would take a person high on benzos and booze to jail after being through a turbulence-filled long flight, no need to have a stranger save you from yourself. Airport. People. Have. Seen. It. All. Before.
Ok, and then she meets her equal. And then, another equal joins in. Who is the cat? Who is the mouse? And why is there an elephant and a rat in the room also, and then there is a raccoon too, what is this? Ok, there were no *real* animals, I made them up to make it look extra crazy, but you get the idea. Crazies are joined by more crazies, but who is really crazy and who is who, and what is really going on, and what’s the end game there?
Yeah, and then that ending, that got me hollering. When I was at about 50%, I was sure this is going to drag on now. What else could possibly ever happen there, everything has happened already? Oh, I was so wrong. So. Wrong.
Also, a bonus thing: I love Spain, I seriously love Spain. This book has the taste, the smell, the air of Spain. The weather, the sun, the sea. It has it all.
An interesting mystery about an ordinary woman who pretends to be a millionaire during a visit to Marbella after winning on a scratchcard. A decent beach read.
Kind of an interesting story of a naive girl who plays rich but then falls into red flag after red flag after red pool after RED OCEAN.
The point of view switch was a good idea as I found Marta's side more interesting because Jade was kind of a dumbass.
Still, it was a quick fun read for the end of the year.
Thanks to the publishers and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.
Started out a little slow and cliche but then it rapidly pulled me in and hooked me. I found the characters fascinating and enjoyed how it all unfolded. Very good book, would recommend to my reading friends.
Oh, so this is one of THOSE books, eases you in gently…. Then wham! twists, turns, some extremely untrustworthy characters and some drastic methods of revenge!!
At first I was wondering if I had picked up a romance, but then the story properly kicked in and I was hooked.
I loved Jade, such a funny character, I loved some of her one liners and ‘thoughts’ to Issac At times I didn’t know who to trust, the Martha sections were definitely my favourite part.
The ending was perfect and one of my favourite endings of this years reads
The title of The Girl in Seat 2A sounded so good, and I could not wait to start it. Jade jets off to Marbella and meets Isaac on the plane. The flight itself had me going "Oh wow!" The atmosphere was so tense and gripping right from the start. I was really wondering what was going to happen with Isaac. The housekeeper, Maria was mysterious, too.
In The Girl in Seat 2A, nothing is really what it seems and it had me questioning what was real and what wasn't. I love thrillers where I am constantly questioning who to trust as well. This was an absolute thrilling rollercoaster ride!
Thanks to Diana Wilkinson, Rachel's Random Resources and Boldwood for my eARC in exchange for honest and voluntary review.

Jade is the Girl in 2A. 2B as well as 2C! She can afford to book all three seats. She hates to fly and the ‘comfort seats’ cushion her claustrophobia. There is turbulence on the flight and she is sure she is going to die. Once the emergency has passed she meets Isaac - a Brad Pitt look alike he finds her book “How to Live Like a Millionaire” that she was reading before the turbulence returns it and offers her a drink to calm her nerves. Once they land she is totally disorientated – she carries diazepam tablets in case of an emergency but cannot remember if she took a tablet but knows tranquillizers and alcohol do not mix. Isaac is aware she is in bad shape offers to take her to his villa!! He believes she is one of the Marbella Millionaire set
(Have to admit I did look up Marbella- it is a resort town – in Southern Spain on the coast of Costa del Sol known also known as the millionaire’s playground.)
Jade ignores any and all red flags and enjoys the attention offers by this drop-dread gorgeous guy!
Story is divided in three parts and told from the POV of Jade and Marta.
Part 1 Jade – the girl in Seat 2A
Part 2 Marta - a maid at the Hotel Los Molinos where Jade as well as Astrid and Emmeline also stayed – All have Isaac in common! When Marta ends of working for Isaac at the Villa where he is staying things get VERY Interesting!!
Part 3 is Jade
Personal Note: Don’t let the slowdown in the latter section of Part 1 fool you!!
I read a lot of thrillers and the start of this story had me interested and curious then by the end of Part 1 -
I was convinced this was going to be a so so thriller.
WRONG!~ Not the case as it was GREAT. 🤗 I
Now I am looking forward to Ms. Wilkinson's next story!!
Want to thank NetGalley and Boldwood Books for this early eGalley.
Publishing Release Date scheduled for January 19, 2024.
After Jade wins a 20,000 pound scratch off she lives life as best as she can without giving up her economy sized bedsit. She is on her second trip to Spain. She has decided to live lavishly as if she was a millionaire and not just a thousandair. When there is turbulence on her flight a handsome guy name Isaac Hance her back her book “how to live like a millionaire.“ before Jade knows it she is tipsy on wine she finds out his name is Isaac and when one thing leads to another she decides he is going to be her vacation date or maybe Isaac manipulated it to be like that. For a day or two she stays at a ritzy hotel known to cater to the rich but bee for she knows it she is staying with Isaac in his island Villa he’s even taking her on a cruise and what she believes to be his yacht. On her first day there she notices the housekeeper Marta isn’t that nice but the show for her husband Pablo is quite the opposite because while Isaac is supposed to be at work he takes Jade down to the village to do some shopping and wants to go with her something Jade refuses. This whole thing with Isaac is becoming a bit much she’s learning he is very particular about keeping things clean and has even seen him bring Marta to tears over something that has made Isaac unhappy. While she is in the village she she stops in on a realtor who also believed her to be a millionaire just to see how it feels but when a little champagne causes her to make a bad decision it starts at the beginning of the end. I also forgot to mention while they were out at dinner at a nice restaurant a woman comes up to them and warns Jade off of Isaac and says he ruined her life and she will not be the only one to tell Jay this unfortunately she has missed our opportunity to run and may now be in danger but from who Isaac or Martha? This was a great hilarious book and like most reviews there are so much I left out if you love God humorous thrillers then you will definitely enjoy the spot it is not canopy or cartoonish at all but a really good read and one I highly recommend. I have never read a book by this author but I’m definitely going to check out any books she has or comes out wet I am totally sold on this authors wit and talent. I could’ve sworn I read books by Diana Wilkinson before but haven’t found any yet and if I did then make this one my absolute favorite it really is a great great read! I want to thank Boldwood Books and NetGalley for my free arc copy please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.
Jade wins the lottery on a scratch off and decides she wants to fit the “millionaire” role by going on holiday to a swanky resort. She meets a gorgeous and charming guy on the plane and soon they are meeting for dinner and the best part is that he is loaded - way more money than she has and he is wining and dining her. He could be her Prince Charming until little things start happening and she is not sure what is going on. And if his intentions are true. This is the moment when a good book turns into an “I can’t put this down book”! Delightful and clever suspense/ thriller - highly recommend!
Thank you so much for allowing me the Advanced Reader Copy Boldwood Books! #NetGalley #TheGirlinSeat2A
This was a great read. I loved the character development and the way suspense was built throughout. I really enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend it.
Not a bad read, If you found this in the pool library on hols you'd be pleased. I did find Jade's part of the story dragged a bit and there was too much superfluous information. I wsa also slightly confused by the 2A seat designation- surely if you wanted space you'd book 1A-C? Or on the other side it would be 2D-F not A. That's me being a bit geeky. Also I think of Mercadona as being more like Sainsbury's Taste the Difference, Consum or Dia are more Tesco. For the record you can buy rabbit in all the supermarkets. I did like Jade as a character, also Pablo and Marta once I knew more of her story. Trying to avoid spoilers the women were strong in this book which I liked also.
I will definitely read more form this author
This is a great psychological thriller that I couldn’t put down. Jade has a big lottery win and takes herself off to Spain. However she doesn’t like flying and always books seat 2A. Whilst on the flight she meets a tall, dark and handsome stranger and that’s really where this all starts. This has short chapters that make it very easy to ‘just read one more’! From the start you get the impression all is not what it seems and that the outcome isn’t going to be as obvious as you think. No one appears to be who you think they are and there are plenty of turns that then keep you changing your opinion of each of the characters. This certainly kept me on my toes. Great twists at the end that I didn’t see coming! Thank you to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for the ARC
Thank you NetGalley and Boldwood books for an ARC of ‘The girl in seat 2A’ by Diana Wilkinson. The author is a new one for me and I was excited to see how the story develops.
Jade has just come into some money. £50K to be precise. So, after scrimping and saving for so long. She decides to live life to the fullest and take a plane to Marbella in Spain. She even books the two seats next to her, so she has plenty of leg room on the plane. But when the guy sits on one of her seats. At first, she thought what a cheek. But the guy is drop dead gorgeous and a sense of danger. But she starts chatting to him anyway. They get on so well that he invites her to his villa. But when Jade finds out what Issac is really like. She gets scared and wonders if her life is in danger.
The story is told in several points of view, it had an interesting storyline, but I found that Jade point of dragged on a bit, and I only started giving my full attention when we heard Marta’s side of the story. I liked the descriptions of the locations in Marbella etc. But unfortunately for me personally the story didn’t blow me away. 3.5 stars from me.
Thank you, NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the copy of The Girl in Seat 2A by Diana Wilkinson. What a great story! Jade’s POV was so long I almost gave up because her character was so tiresome. I’m not sure if the writing was at fault or if the character was just so bad she became unreadable. Thank goodness the perspective changed to Marta’s POV which was much more interesting. The end was great but it was so long and drawn out. If you love a surprise ending that really ties up all the loose ends you will love this book!
A superbly original tale - this books starts as a fairly lighthearted read, but boy, are we transported to darkly twisty psychological fiction by the end!!
The girl in seat 2A is utterly petrified of flying, and the story starts with her traumatised by some turbulence on the way to Marbella, where she plans to 'fake it till you make it' on the back of a modest lottery scratch card win. Her fear of flying causes her to overindulge and in her drunken stupor, the deeply attractive Isaac, comes to her aid.
Isaac seems to good to be true, and in this novel it won't give much if a spoiler to say that this does indeed seem to be the case!!
The story is told in parts, initially from Jade (the girl), and later from Marta, a housekeeper, who is privy to (highly significant!) events concerning Isaac prior to Jade's encounter with him.
Such great story! 100% worthy of 5*s!
My thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an advance copy.
The Girl in Seat 2A by Diana Wilkinson is masterpiece of a phenomenal thrill ride.
Starting off slow and steady with a win from scratch off ticket to a trip of life time.
But will it be the last trip The Girl in Seat 2A ever takes?
This is one trip that the ending is spell bounding!
Would make a fantastic movie! Yep, I’d watch it.

Jade has recently had a substantial windfall and is living life to the fullest.
She flies from England to Spain, booking three seats for herself.
She meets Isaac when he sits in the seat to speak to her, and twigs that he is very well off.
She moves into his mansion, but soon has a taste of what he's really like.
I enjoyed this novel. It's got humour, (the tanned owl eyes - I almost choked on my tea!!) intrigue, a little romance and is suspenseful.
The characters are well developed, but, some are not what they seem. The reader is let astray as to what the characters are up to.
A good holiday novel. I recommend.
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book.
