Romance (as you would expect from Katie Fforde,) set on Dominica, one of the lesser known Carribean islands.
Cass is tasked by her father to take a special map to her father's friend in Dominica and is accompanied by Ranulph, an archaeologist who is visiting
the island as well. As they arrive, a hurricane hits the island and Cass and Ranulph help with the clean up. But others want the map and Cass finds herself in danger.
Best thing is that I learnt about this little island, which was behind Katie's reason to write it.
Island in the Sun by Katie Fforde is an easy read about a daughter sent to the Caribbean island of Dominique to find and photograph rare stone carvings, that her father wants to submit to a photography project. However the island has been devastated by a hurricane and Cass wants to help the local people before she looks for the carvings.
Which turns out to be a good choice, because the rare carvings can only been seen, after the damage left by the hurricane. Cass then needs to get the evidence of the carvings existence back to her father before the project date closes. Along the way Cass will fall in love and meet the man of her dreams.

This is sunshine in a book and I enjoyed reading it. A lovely, nice, enjoyed and easy book to read. It is light-hearted, cute and at times predictable and maybe even a bit to long of a read. The characters are charming and the story is a bit of fun. The sunny island setting was perfect for this book and story and really helped bring the story to life.
A good book but not one of my favourites. A nice light and easy read for a bit of fun.
Thank you NetGalley and Random House UK, Cornerstone for giving me the opportunity to read adn review this book.
This wasnt a bad read and i did love the first 20% of the book however the other 80% i really only read to get the book finished. A good concept and I loved the descriptions of the island however i just felt the love story between the two characters was lacking
Oh my goodness, what a fabulous book, I think my favourite one from Katie Fforde ever. Set both in the UK and in the beautiful island of Dominica, the story of Cass, always the disappointment to her divorced parents, she goes to the island to fulfil a task for her famous photographer father and falls in love - not just with the island.
A story of community as everyone deals with the aftermath of hurricanes and pulls together to help each other. Of bravery, stepping out of comfort zones, and of following your own dreams, regardless of other people's opinions.
A brilliant story, fabulous characters and written with such great description that you can picture the setting so well. I've read the book in two days on holiday because I simply couldn't put it down!
a light fun read but felt the plot line was rushed which was disappointing as it had potential.
In saying that i yes a perfect entertaining read for your holiday
This book was a little disappointment for me! I was expecting something else maybe.. I didn’t really enjoy the writing style and the storyline. And was not a big fan of the characters. But it was good enough to finish this book and to want to know the end. 3 stars out of 5 for me.
When I am in need of a feel good read, I read for a Katie Fforde book....and Island in the Sun did not let me down.
Well developed characters, a heart-warming storyline, there is everything I needed within the pages of this book...Thank you!
I felt I was doing a lot of eye-rolling, at the schoolgirlish crush Cass has on Ranulph - really?
It was all a bit far-fetched, the usual fair of misunderstandings, when no one explains themselves, and when they eventually do, it’s still not right.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing this book for review.
A beautifully written book . Don’t be fooled that it’s a light hearted romance. Cass has gone to do a favour for her father but soon finds herself caught up in a hurricane.
She spends all her time supporting the local community but knows there is a person who she shouldn’t fall for. Will she fall for them ?
Katie Fforde’s "Island in the Sun" is a delightful and sun-soaked romance that captures the essence of escape and the thrill of new beginnings. Set against the picturesque backdrop of a vibrant island, the story follows the protagonist as she embarks on a journey that promises adventure and self-discovery. Fforde's writing is light and breezy, perfectly matching the setting and mood of the novel.
The characters are charming and relatable, each bringing their own dreams and dilemmas to the narrative, enriching the story with their interactions and personal growth. "Island in the Sun" is quintessentially Katie Fforde—romantic, uplifting, and infused with warmth and humor. It’s the perfect read for those who love feel-good stories that transport them to beautiful, idyllic locations.
The usual Katie fforde formula but still enjoyable. some interesting characters and the escripions of the island make me want to go.
Cass is a young underconfident woman afraid to ask for anything she actually wants. Her family send her to Dominca to help find an ancient site. There has just been a hurricane and her father's handsome neighbour goes with her to help out. She is attracted to him but is so insecure that whatever he does, she assumes he is not interested, which really gets frustrating at times. Slightly disjointed at times, and the characters are a little one dimensional. It's ok, but not one of her best.
Great descriptions of Dominica and its people but otherwise a little lacklustre …
Interesting story and could have had a real draw but unfortunately the characters were a little flat
Not up to her usual standards- haven’t read a KF for a while but felt a little flat
Island In The Sun was a light-hearted fun read - it's quite predictable but that's to be expected from a romance novel. Beautifully set on Dominica, it's a book about communities coming together in the aftermath of a hurricane. Unfortunately for me I lacked a connection to the characters in the book, but it works if you want an easy, quick story.
A nice easy romantic read. Thoroughly enjoyed. Set in some lovely places, Scotland, and the caribean island of Dominica,. W.ould recommend to friends as a nice holiday read
I have read all of Katie Fforde's books and really enjoyed this one. I likes this one being set in Dominica. I look forward to reading more.
I absolutely loved this book and I couldn't put it down. Katie Fforde is a go to author for me so I knew it would be one for me.
Island In The Sun was different from other Katie Fforde books I’ve read and I thought it was great. I enjoyed learning about Dominica and I was willing Cass and Ranulph to get together. I also enjoyed Delphines character. A great read for the summer
I enjoyed this adventure:/romance book. The story played out like a cosy adventure movie, slow at times but with periods of fast paced action. It kept me engrossed and wanting to read the next chapter. The book was slightly predictable and I felt more information could have been given for the lead male character Ranulph who remained a slight mystery. Overall I would recommend this book
