Another great novel by Lowe. When the yearly contest to vie for position at the illustrious St Ignatius begins, friendships are put to the test and three women will stop at nothing to esnure their children get a coveted spot. But which one of them would turn to murder? This had so many twists and turns and kept me hanging on right until the last page!

St Ignatius' Boys school is a very prestigious boys school in Pacific Pines, everyone wants there sons enrolled. The story follows 3 families as they approach Gala Day who all have their own reasons for sending the boys but also have a lot of secrets! On the day there is a hit and run. Who did it? Was it an accident or not? And if not what was the reason?
I enjoy all of Ali Lowes books and this was no exception. The characters are interesting and the way their history and secrets all weave together is fascinating.
Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for granting me an advance copy.

It’s a given that parents would do whatever they could to help their children… but how far does that extend? For the families living in Pacific Pines, the goal is to get their sons into St Ignatius Boys’ School. A model of academic and athletic glory, all prospective pupils must show an aptitude for the curriculum inside and outside the rooms. To get enrolled however, the boys must battle it out in mental and physical tests — and there’s nothing their parents can do to help. Well, unless you’re in the know. A trio of mums are encouraging their children to get involved but after one boy is hit in a car accident, there’s a lot more being revealed than who is top of the class. This nifty read takes quite a few unexpected turns and makes it all the more enjoyable when you’re unprepared for the disclosures. One to enjoy in a single satisfying sitting, bravo, Ali Lowe.

Engaging Suburban Noir..
An engaging suburban noir set in the fictional coastal Pacific Pines where all attention is focused on success and acceptance of offspring into the highly regarded local boys school. Competition is fierce and it soon becomes clear that some parents will stop at absolutely nothing to succeed. When tragedy strikes, secrets and scandals may out - but just how far will these parents go to protect their offspring? With a cast of deftly drawn and well observed although mostly unlikeable characters, a well imagined backdrop and a propulsive plot this is a compelling one sit read.

How far would you go as a parent to get your child into the school you want? It's not the first book to tackle this subject, but that didn't make it any less readable. I really enjoyed it

I delved into this, eagerly anticipating what each mother would do to get her son into the prestigious St Ignatius School! It’s a well written novel, giving the point of view of each mother and it also goes into their motivations and drive. It was a good read with a satisfying ending.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

How far would you go to get your kids into the right school? Bribery? Fraud? Nothing appears to the off the table in this story of small town secrets. The story follows Kaya, Estella and Bec as they try to get their boys into the exclusive St Ignatious' school. Events take place during the few days before, during and after the Gala Day for prospective students and parents. There are plenty of secrets revealed as events lead up to a tragic accident.

I liked that the characters each had their own voice but I didn't find all of them likeable even after you learn about their backgrounds and motivations. I felt the plot came to a logical conclusion at the end and didn't need the additional twists in the one year later part, they didn't add anything else. They just felt like overkill. The epilogue definitely wasn't needed..

On the whole a good story, with a plot that flows nicely and keeps you interested until the end.

Thank you to NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

This book focuses on 3 mums who are desperate to get their sons in a prestigious school. And they would do anything to get them in. And they won’t let anyone get in the way, friends or not.

This gave me vibes of Big Little Lies, and I so enjoyed it. The story was cleverly plotted, with so many twists and turns you just don’t see coming. And it smacks of real life, there are definitely people in this world exactly like the 3 mums, Estella, Bec, and Kaya. The characters were all well written, and they each try to come across as perfect, but each are very flawed. I couldn’t wait to finish this book, it was so good. A solid 4 stars from me.

This definitely asked the big question of how far would you go as a parent. A very exciting and enthralling fast paced read.

Ali Lowe has long since become one of my favorite authors, with her twisty plot lines and imperfect characters that we can all relate to. Her portrayal of modern parenting is second to none, and so is her ability to weave a mystery. Highly recommended!

This novel is all about social dynamics and family politics, and focuses on the near obsessive preoccupation of a certain class of elitist parent determined to ensure that *their* child gets all the advantages in life, no matter who might deserve it otherwise.

Estella, Bec and Kaya are three of the mothers desperate to see their sons accepted into Saint Ignatius, a boy's school where children are put through a series of fairly rigorous physical and mental tests before being selected as one of the privileged few.

Needless to say, the parents are almost more competitive than the children, and many would go to murderous lengths to get their kid the golden ticket. The question is though, whether they would literally kill someone over it.

Because in the opening pages of the book, a boy is mercilessly run over, raising the inevitable question of who would do such a thing...

Ali Lowe has written a perceptive and entertaining novel with some decidedly black humor thrown in. This one is definitely worth a read and gets 3.5 stars.

I always enjoy Ali Lowe's writing, all of her books capture the microcosm of school runs, wanting the best for your children by any means, the drag of feeling older and unseen, and all of those said and unsaid pressures of family life and growing older,

All of the characters in The School Run look to have it all, good lives, decent jobs, wonderful supportive families, but everyone is hiding secrets and envying what someone else has.

The School Run is centred around the pressure to get children into the exclusive secondary school St Ignatius's and how that over-rides peoples' lives and moral code. The three main mothers, Estella. Bec and Kaya all have their hearts set on getting a place at the school for their boys, but competition is fierce and they will try anything. At the same time, their older daughters are growing up and getting more independence and falling in love, will they let their mothers into their lives or lock them out?

Another solid read from Ali Lowe.

This is a must read! What a book. Its very big little lies and a tale kf suburban mums and the extents they go to for their kids. It has humour, intrigue, secrets, lies, twists and turns galore. I was sucked in from tbe very start and loved every second of the plot. Its really well written and the characters are original and with unique voices. The characters are multi faceted and noone is why you think they are. I wish more books were this engaging

The School Run by Ali Lowe begins with a schoolboy being run down on a coastal road as a teaser as to what's to come, then describes the rivalry between 3 women whose children are vying for a place at the prestigious St Ignatius Boy's School. As with her marvellous debut,"Trivia Night" it's very much a case of parents behaving badly as friends Estella and Bec and new neighbour in the exclusive suburb of Pacific Pines , Kaya competing in their efforts to impress the selectors .
Initially being very funny the book takes a dramatic swerve as secrets of the past emerge then take a very dark turn.

This is great entertainment that will add to Ali Lowe's reputation,a fairly new author every bit as good as Liane Moriarty and Lisa Jewell. The School Run mixes humour, drama and societal issues with plenty of surprises and shocks along the way. The characters are multi-faceted ,take them at face value at your peril, what initially reads like a fairly lightweight piece of suburban comedy becomes an involving, thoughtful and intelligent tale almost by stealth.
An excellent book from an author I hope to read much more of.

If you like Big Little Lies. You will like this book. Mothers behaving badly to get their sons into a private schools and teenagers making teenage decisions. The different perspectives were written well. I never got confused between them.
