I love Lia Louis, I adore all of her previous books, this one is another exquisite read. The character of Millie was relatable, you find yourself rooting for her to sort out her issues and for all to come good again. She's flawed and far from perfection but arent we all? The life she's in is so far from ideal but we travel with her and see her coming out the other side. beautifully and sensitively written, this book is a real eye opener..

This was a perfect summery read - definitely one to get through if you're heading away this summer. Millie.Chandlers life is about to change in so many ways.

Millie was using her work email drafts as a glorified journal- everything she wrote about - her family, friends, work colleagues - was sent to the intended recipient when the work servers went down. Herein follows the aftermath.

Written from Millies pov- I found she could get quite repetitive at times. But it is written in a very real and relatable way. I will always reach for a new Lia Louis - she is a gem 🫶

This was a great combination of romance, friendship and self-discovery. I would have loved to see more of the male love interest, as although I believed their love story it seemed to progress quickly from flirting to in love, with little in between.

Well, this was a lot of fun!
The premise is toe-curlingly brilliant - Millie uses draft emails as a way to vent her frustration and to say the things she would never actually say to her colleagues, friends, and family. I can understand the appeal, it's cathartic to get your feelings out and it's seemingly safe...until one night, everything in her drafts folder is sent. The rest of the book is set AE (after emails) as Millie tries to piece back together her dignity, make amends, and re-find her spark.
I really liked Millie, she is by no means perfect but that just made her more real. Depressingly, I think a large number of women will recognise the experience of having an emotionally abusive and gaslighting partner, and seeing Millie come out the other side of the effects of that is uplifting. The supporting characters are a great mix - I particularly loved Ralph, the best person that we all want to have in our lives and be for others.
I enjoyed the inclusion at the beginning of some of the specific emails that were sent and I would've liked to read more about the awkward conversations that Millie put herself through to try and fix things, but that probably says a lot more about me and my enjoyment of other people's embarrassment than about the book!
This is a real example of how good things often come out of what seems like the worst situation of your life, so you should always embrace the discomfort and look for the best way forward.

I loved this book! Lis Louis has a real talent for finding funny in the familiar. Lia’s humour is just brilliant and takes her storytelling to a whole new level. Better Left Unsaid is not only funny it's also relatable on so many levels. The characters are brilliantly developed and have traits that will remind you of yourself or of someone you know or have met. I adored every page. Millie's unsent draft emails, essentially a type of diary, all get sent. It is a tech issue or has someone done this on purpose. How will this affect her relationships at work and in her personal life? A great read.

When Millie Chandler is dumped by her hotshot boyfriend who happens to work at the same company as her she vows never to be on the company gossip radar again and keep everything to herself but when frustrations become to much she finds an outlet in writing it out in unsent emails. But then - disaster- a glitch in the matrix sends all her unvarnished emails automatically! Quelle horrors. Lia Louis is fast becoming one of my favourite rom com writers, this was a lot of fun but still manages to deal with some serious stuff without being heavy handed.

Oh what a lovely little book! This was exactly the pallet cleanser I needed after a fair few thrillers.
I absolutely loved the premise of this novel. I bet there is no one out there (particularly those who work with emails) who hasn’t wanted to respond in some sarcastic manner or tell the recipient exactly what they feel. I sure have
Meet Millie, who does exactly that. Millie has been using her draft emails as a somewhat diary over the last two years, with all emails unsent but drafted. Due to some technical error, all the emails get sent, including the one to her ex boyfriend who is due to be married shortly
Millie has to walk into work and apologise to people in her life who were always at the end of the emails, including friends and family, and face the consequences and at the same time figure out her own romance path

This book was just a breath of fresh air. It made me absolutely howl in places. The work place was so accurately described and I could picture it in my head

Better Left Unsent took a little while for me to properly get into, but once I did, I was hooked on Millie and her story of love and self-discovery. It’s a great rom-com for anyone who likes Beth O’Leary and Mhairi McFarlane, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to fans of the genre.

This is the first book I’ve read by Lia Louis, and I’m already looking forward to reading more. I really enjoyed the writing and humour, not to mention the overall premise of the story. I can’t even imagine personal draft e-mails being sent to everyone, and I’m sure it’s actually the plot of an unwritten horror film. Can you imagine?! Like Millie, I’d be horrified, and I’d want the ground to immediately swallow me up. She ends up dealing with it a lot better than I would!

Although this book is a story of finding yourself and overcoming your fears, it’s also a very addictive romance. The mystery man in question is pretty swoonworthy, and his budding relationship with Millie is so fun to read. I don’t want to spoil anything for people who haven’t read this yet, so I’ll just say that I was happy with how everything turned out, and I’ll never again think of rhubarb as being boring!

Better Left Unsent is a fun, uplifting book that will appeal to a lot of rom-com readers out there. It’s full of realistic characters, funny moments, and memorable relationships; whether they’re familial, platonic or romantic, there’s something for everyone. Overall, it’s a brilliant read!

Better Left Unsent follows Millie who, after advice from a workmate on how to deal with stresses with people without saying it to their face, writes responses she would actually like to say to them in an email, but doesn't send them. Consequently, there are over 100 unsent emails in her drafts folder and when a power outage hits her office, all of those draft emails are sent and Millie's life is instantly thrown into turmoil.

After the initial shock and wondering how she is ever going to face people who got an email from her, it turns out it may not have been the worst thing in the world and she starts to realise that sometimes, it isn't always a bad idea to say what's on your mind!

Millie was such a great character and very relatable! We have all typed something out then deleted it before sending and it was great to see it played out. The surrounding characters were great, even the obnoxious ones, but I especially loved Petra and Ralph.

Apart from making me instantly empty my drafts folder, I really enjoyed this on. Occasionally inbetween all the dark, emotional, gritty reads, one like this comes along at just the right time!

My heart is full and happy after reading Lia’s latest novel 😊 ❤️

Lia is one of my must read authors, having fallen in love with her writing and her characters after reading Dear Emmie Blue. I have since read Eight Perfect Hours which I also thoroughly enjoyed.

‘Better Left Unsent’ has such a clever and refreshingly different premise. Millie, our main character, lets off steam by writing emails to people who have annoyed her, or who she would just like to tell something she can’t say to their face. These 100 plus emails are stored in her drafts folder. She would never send them. Then apparently a blip with the company’s internet has accidentally sent all the emails to the recipients. Millie begins to wonder if this explanation is what actually happened.

Oh my goodness I can’t imagine how embarrassing that would be! I’m sure many of us have begun to write an email in the heat of the moment but decided against sending it! Well after reading this my advice would be if you do, definitely don’t store it in your drafts folder!

Going back to the storyline, after the initial wishing the ground would just swallow her up, Millie begins to realise that some of the emails have actually had a positive outcome. Could she even get back with Owen, her ex? Or how about the gorgeous Jack she shared an almost kiss with at the Christmas party?

I couldn’t wait to find out what happened and flew through the book. Superb ending which did not disappoint.

Lia has such a way of bringing her characters to life. Millie was so likeable and I could see a bit of myself in her, so I could easily relate to her. I loved the Ralph and Cara storyline too. All wonderful characters, and even the unpleasant ones are well written.

I would recommend taking this on holiday or putting a quiet weekend aside so you can lose yourself in this heartwarming, laugh out loud novel.

An absolute page turner.

I was truly hooked from the very start. I mean this is every admin girlys worst nightmare and Millie is out here living it! Millie was such a breath of fresh air and so relatable, like who hasn't drunk texted their ex or ranted about friends and colleagues wishing they could say the things they really wanted. I really loved the premise of this book and watching Millie grow and find her confidence and strength and hunky Jack🤭 Cate and Ralph were so wholesome, can they have a sequel pretty please🥹

I adore Lia Louis and this one, once properly edited, will be another fantastic book - the premise of the story is great and it's executed well, with a fun twist that you don't often get from a romance. All of the characters were great and I loved the strong sense of friendship present throughout. All round good vibes!

A fun romcom mainly set in the workplace. The style reminded me of Sophie Kinsella in its prose and pace. I loved Jack as the love interest and how Millie evolved from a people pleaser with an unusual way of dealing with her angst to gaining more self confidence and empowered to take control of her own destiny. The dynamics and tension between all the characters worked well and will always remember the scene in the cupboard.

I just spent the best week of my life with this book, because of this book. And if you are a lover of love stories or romance with a slice of life, just like I am, then this book is for you!

It follows Millie’s journey as one day, during a company-wide system glitch, she finds that all her email drafts were sent. And it’s not just any normal draft as she basically uses it to vent, be brutally honest about her thoughts and feelings, about what she wants to say to people but doesn’t have the courage to. Well, they’re all sent to their respective recipients: her ex, her best friends, her crush, her workmates, her family, everyone she knows. And now they have to face these truths with her.

I feel so much for Millie the whole way through, understanding her anxiety over the situation, and how it’s not easy for her to face the truth, especially having been burnt badly before. In that way, she learns to slowly get a hold of herself, rediscover who she really is at her core, and help the people around her see that and accept her. And I’m also really happy to see that there are people who care about her help her in that process as well.

The romance aspect is so wholesome and adorable too! Millie and Jack have a love that I genuinely want to experience in real life (and I think that’s the beauty of this book and in Lia’s writing as a whole, everything felt true to life). And Jack is one the of greenest flags out there! He sees her for who she is, makes her feel safe and protected, and is her person just as much as she is to him.

I have loved the other books from this author, especially Dear Emmie Blue, so that’s pretty much why I decided to try this one out. I didn’t expect to have loved it as much as I do and it might have surpassed Dear Emmie Blue as my top favorite from her. I’ll be reading anything she writes now!

I HIGHLY recommend it, and now I’ll be waiting for when I can get this book physically in my hands. I need to own a physical copy, it’s a must!!

When I read the synopsis for this one, I knew I had to read it. Who hasn’t written something they really want to say then deleted and written the “nicer” response? Millie has but never sent any of them, leaving them in her drafts as a kind of therapy. But one day, the worst thing in her life happened and ALL the emails got sent. This had disastrous consequences, broken relationships and lives, the threat of her job and more.

Millie wants to go into hibernation mode, but Jack helps her ride it out with his “ so what?” attitude. So many things happen to her from then on, and the story is just brilliant. I laughed out loud, I welled up twice and didn’t want it to end. I loved Millie and was routing for her all the way through, hoping things would sort themselves out and make her happy again.

If you only read one romcom this year, make it this one. I’m definitely putting this author on my radar as I’m sure there will be more books just as good in the future.

This was my first book from this author.
A fun, warm and light hearted read. Easy book to read in a day.

This book’s a bit of a wild ride. I’ll always read anything that involves things being sent that weren’t meant to be because I love the drama (sue me!). It was a little slow getting off the ground but I did get invested in Millie, her friends and her colleagues. The emails were an interesting way to introduce us to different characters and I liked to see people taking on board what Millie said. And kudos to Millie because I would have quit on the spot and wiped all traces of myself from the earth if that had happened to me yet she continues to show up to work and try to make amends.

This is meant to be a romance and I was drawn in by Jack’s charm and he was written incredibly sexy, with the intense looks - like Millie’s friend Cate, I’m swooning and it wasn’t even happening to me. However, I ended up incredibly frustrated with and disappointed in Jack. For someone who said Millie shouldn’t be more like him, he certainly seemed hung up on her being herself instead of taking on his ‘so what?’ approach to life. Whilst I was totally rooting for him at first, I reached the end of the book thinking Millie’s roommate Ralph was the only solid man in the book. He was supportive (try it, Jack!) and a quirky sweetheart.

Millie’s friendships with Petra and Cate were particularly delightful. Those two were the type of friends we all need in our lives and I loved to see how Petra had Millie’s back at work and tried to protect her, but she was also a bit of a laugh on her own.

This is another laugh out loud book from this author that had me staying up late to find out what happens. Heart warming and funny, it's a real triumph. Looking forward to seeing what the author does next.
