It was so good to revisit with the characters from One Day With You a year on from that day. This book could be read as a stand-alone as it reminds you just enough of the events of that day but you would miss out on an amazing story and a whole lot of the history of the relationships between many of the characters here.
Like One Day With You, this was written in blocks of time, with each of the main characters telling what happened to them during that block of time in their own chapter within the timed part before the clock moves on.
I found some of the changes between the end of the previous book and the start of this one a little surprising but it all added up in the end to make a great tale. The new characters that had been added in this time were not just filler, they had their own reasons for being there and made the story move forward at a great pace keeping it interesting and the pages turning.
This book is the sequel to One Day With You, a previous book by this author. It is set one year later and continues with the story. Whilst it is a sequel, it could be read as a standalone book, but I would advise reading the first book for better understanding of the storyline. We are back one year later with Tress and Noah. I won't spoil what happens in the first book, just in case you want to read that one first, but it's safe to say the consequences of that fateful night one year ago is still being felt.
This was a wonderful read. I loved the first book and when I started reading this one I remembered how much I loved it! This book takes place over the space of 24 hours and it certainly packs a lot into it with more dramas for Tress and Noah. We also have the added characters of Noah's sister Keli and soap star, Odette Devine. You may begin wondering how they all fit into each other's storylines, but all becomes clear as the book moves on. If you have read this author's books before, you'll know that she usually puts in lots of twists and turns, and this book is no exception!
The book is split into two hour segments and it swaps between the four main characters as it goes. It was such a captivating read and I was hooked into it from the very beginning, wondering where it was going to take me. The first book had me bawling my eyes out but this book, whilst still very emotional, was a little more light-hearted and had more moments where I raised a smile! I loved the characters, their storylines and how the author cleverly linked everything together! Fantastic! Would recommend!
I really enjoyed this book! The fact that this story takes place over the course of one day was something that I havent read in a really long time, and Shari low executed it so well. I never found myself bored, in fact I read this book quite fast I couldn't put it down. Sometimes reading books with so many characters, following their different storylines can be confusing, but the flow of this book worked so well that it was very easy to follow along with each characters journey. I am excited to read more from this author!
I really enjoyed this, a clever story with relatable characters. Recommended. I look forward to reading more by this author.
I'm a big fan of Shari's writing style and the format of her books over 24h.
I loved this follow on book, which could also be read as a stand alone. Fab characters, a great storyline and a happy ending!
Wow Shari Low! You just keeping getting better and better! I couldn’t put this down! Love all the characters and i want to be part of their lives. Everyone needs a Nancy! Your books just pull people in and give us a great big hug! Such a feel good book and I cant wait for the next one! Loved it!
I really enjoyed this book! I thought the concept was unique and the characters were so lovable. I couldn’t wait to see how the story panned out for each character and that made it hard to put this book down! I will recommend this book to everyone! I will definitely check out other books by Shari Low!
Oh my...Shari Low just keeps getting better and better!!!
One Year After You is the sequel to her book One Day With You....though it could be read as a stand alone novel.
It follows the stories of Noah and Tress whose lives had been shattered in the first book. Pull in a few familiar characters and we have a fantastic book which shows us how lives have changed since we met them a year ago.
A brilliant...and at times, emotive read.
I loved it
One year ago Tress and Noah had the worst day of their lives. Whilst giving birth to her son, her husband, Max, was fighting for his life in the same hospital. Noah discovered that his wife was cheating on him with Max.
One year later their story is told over the course of one eventful day.
With a host of interesting characters and interesting, interlinked storylines, this is an excellent book.
As always, Shari writes a brilliant story. You feel like every character is your family member and are just willing them on. I’ve read every single Shari book and they never disappoint.
This story takes place over the course of one day.
The book is about four people whose stories are intertwined. Lots of surprises along the way in this fast moving story. It’s another good one by this author
One Year After You, by Shari Low, apparently is a follow-up to One Day With You. I began reading without this knowledge and yet found it to be an interesting novel without the foundation I'd missed by not reading the other. It is definitely an enjoyable stand-alone that is set across the course of a day and easily read in an afternoon. Thank you, NetGalley and the publisher, for the ARC ebook I read to complete this review. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Thank you NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the opportunity to read the ARC of One Year After You.
This is the second book I have read by this author and I was not disappointed. One Year After You all takes place in a 24-hour period exactly one year after Shari Low's One Day With You. Tress and Noah return and we find out what they have been up to over the course of this year. The book is broken down into 2-hour segments with four main characters. I fell in love with all of the characters in this book and I stayed invested in them the whole way through. One Year After You was a real page-turner for me and I would give it more than 5 stars if I could. This is a heartwarming story about the importance of love, family and friends. I laughed and even shed a few happy tears. Definitely a great read.
Publication date: January 5, 2024
It’s been one year for the worst day of their lives. Tress lost her husband and their son was born. Noah lost his best friend Max, and discovered that his wife was cheating on him with Max, Trees’s husband. And just one year later, fate, secrets, and incredible connections will make it the best day of Tress and Noah’s lives. Amazing how Shari Low can intertwine stories, feelings, secrets and bring to live an incredible story
I had previously read One Day With You and gave it a 5 star review as I loved everything about it. Coming back one year later to Tress and Noah in One Year After You, I wondered if it would live up to my expectations. Of course it did!! Another cracker from Shari Low with her usual blend of humour, love, romance, family and friendship. Great characters and a feel good, gorgeous story. Loved it!!
I adore books that give insight into multiple different characters and how their lives intertwine; however, the most important message that this book conveys is the importance of love and family because with these two elements in a person's life, any tragedy can be overcome. What Noah and Tress had to go through is unimaginable especially what they discovered as a result of the crash. It makes one evaluate if you truly know the person that you have chosen to be with. It is that type of alternative persona that Odette or formerly known as Olive that she felt she must hide behind. I felt sympathetic towards her that after her long standing acting career, she was penniless and alone. She was bearing a secret that she felt she couldn't tell anyone. The shining light in the book is Buddy and the celebration around his birth. He simply is the best part of that year. The ending was wonderful as well and again reiterated the importance of love and how those who are meant to be together will find each other.
4.25. This book follows Shari Low's "One Day With You," a story that I really enjoyed and has a lot of "are you kidding me" moments so I loved following up with the characters from that book one year later. While you can read this as a stand alone (the author does a great job of telling the reader what happened in the first book), I still think it would be best to read the first one. Get invested in the characters and then dive into this one.
I loved the chapters - they are divided into two-hour segments of one day with each of the 4 main characters having their own chapter within that section - so it really was like 4 books in one.
Once again I loved reading about all these characters and what they have gone thru the past year - there is a new character in this book - Odette - a 69-year old soap opera star - and I loved how they all came together. Tress has lost her spouse quite tragically, and may now start to think about dating. Maybe.
And most importantly . . . I think we all need aunts like Nancy and Val in our lives. I laughed at their antics so much throughout this book. Another great read by Shari Low. Pick it up and enjoy.
Thank you to NetGalley, Boldwood Books and especially Shari Low for continuing to write heartfelt books.
Last year I read and reviewed One Day with You by Shari Low and adored it. It reminded me of Regretting You by Colleen Hoover, only I felt satisfied at the end instead of completely frustrated. In the follow-up, One Year After You, we catch up with Tress and Noah as well as meet a few new characters that bring new excitement to the sequel. Many readers, myself included, saw a potential love story between Tress and Noah after the conclusion of the first book. The sequel reveals that many side characters have been rooting for the two to get together as well, but there’s room for plenty of bumps along the way.
Sweet story that made my heart happy. Thank you to NetGalley for the advanced copy in exchange for a review.
Fantastic!
This book picks up one year after "One Day with You" ended. If you haven't already read it, I recommend reading it before this one. It's not mandatory, as the author has included enough backstory, but I consider it to be a 5-star read and well worth it.
On Buddy's first birthday, which also happens to be the one year anniversary of Max's death, Tress is caught in conflicting emotions. Noah is still her best friend, has been since the day that his wife and her husband were in a horrific car accident that killed Max and destroyed Noah's marriage. Tress is blessed to have her son Buddy with her, but knows she and Buddy will have a difficult path to follow in life. How will she explain his father's death?
Tress also has a new-ish job, 6 months ago she began working as a set designer on a popular soap. She's become friendly with several of the actors, Odette, the lead matriarch and Rex, her son. Several things happen to cause conflicting emotions in that arena as well, but I won't write spoilers.
I enjoyed this book. I love that Val and Nancy are still being honorary grandmothers to Buddy, ever encouraging a relationship between Noah and Tress that they're both convinced will never happen. Odette's character is stereotypically soap matriarch, and believable. Rex is a cad. This was a fast moving, emotional read and I recommend it.
Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.
I am a huge fan of the author Shari Low. Her books always make me feel I am being drawn in to the stories of her fabulous characters. I lose myself in her books and am always at a loss as to what to read after I finish a Shari Low book as there are a hard act to follow!
This book follows on from one day with you, one year to the day after the death of a husband, the betrayal of best friends the break up of a marriage and the birth of Noah otherwise known as Buddy. We find out how Tess & Noah are a year on from the day that changed their lives for ever, and all the people who are part of their family. Nancy & Val return as the most formidable Aunties who are loyal and fierce in the protection of their nearest and dearest, a comedy duo with hearts of gold, they will make you laugh and your heart happy, if only we all had a Val and Nancy in our lives.
Throw in a glamorous TV actress whose career is coming to an end and has big decisions to make and this book has everything you will ever need!
Brilliant writing, characters and story, if you need a good book to curl up with this is it!
