I reviewed this based on comments seen about the humour within being non-stop, etc.

I didn’t find it fantastically funny, but I did find it to be a really well-written adventure story with added humour and for that, I was pleasantly surprised. There is a good storyline, a misdirect from the beginning that held fast all the way through the story until the end wrap-up, a degree of farce, but with subtlety that just made the engagement really enjoyable.

Well worth the read.

I wasn’t sure what to expect with this book and it was different. It was quirky and lighthearted, although we did have a couple of murders along the way. It was an amusing and enjoyable read and I did like the main character Al. Maybe the ending was a bit trite but the journey made it all worthwhile

Lively, witty and fresh, really enjoyed this as a different read. Liked the prologue and the characters and felt it could easily be a film.

"Al" is an interloper. A what? He's an interloper - which is essentially his preferred term for the squatting lifestyle he has adopted. Over the past decade "Al" has turned this into something of a skilled artform. He identifies high-end properties that are going to be empty for a period and then in hermit crab fashion goes about the business of making it his own temporary home. All appears to be going well until he comes across a house that he expects to be unoccupied - but isn't. So begins an unexpected adventure that will take "Al's" life down a track that he never intended nor expected.

I really enjoy Andrew Hunter Murray's style of writing. The tone of this novel is very different to that of his previous book, "The Sanctuary". This is lighter - perhaps even slightly "cosy" - but right from the slightly quirky and fun prologue to the very last page, this makes for engaging reading. There are numerous examples of clever, witty humour and observations that the author has a wonderful way of slipping almost nonchalantly into the narrative. There are a number of occasions when the feel of this novel reminded my of the UK TV series "Hustle" from the noughties, so if you are of an age where you can fondly remember that programme, then the content of this book may well appeal to you too. I will certainly be keeping any eye out for Andrew Hunter Murray's next offering.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for supplying an ARC in return for an honest review.

I absolutely loved the first few chapters of this title. I wasn't expecting the cosy crime vibes that followed, but I enjoyed them. It's a very fresh plot, with plenty of wit and humour weaved through. Great storytelling and I would definitely recommend this book to any fans of Hannah Hendy and the other cosy crime greats.

I struggled with this book - I found it slow to start with although I did become more invested as the interlopers found out more about the activities of their murder victim.

We start the book with Al in prison - the book explains how he became embroiled with three other interlopers and their investigations to clear their names. His rules are broken with inevitable disastrous results. His cover is blown and he has to face himself and his life choices for the first time.

I liked the premise of Interloping but did not find the background to the initial murder wholly convincing.

I totally loved this book! So funny at times that I literally did laugh out loud. It was extremely well written, and the amount of research that must have gone into it is incredible. One of my favourite reads of the year so far. Brilliant, and highly recommended. Thanks to the publishers and NetGalley for the early copy.

Al lives the life many of us could only dream about: House sitting in the homes of the wealthy and privileged, while they are away and non the wiser. He outlines his principals as a set of rules which include not stealing anything or destroying items, no he treats the homes as if they were his. Another principal he has is that he always works alone. That is until during one day he makes a series of mistakes which takes him back to one of his old homes. Once there he realises that there are other people who do what he does; Freeload. Against his better judgement and rules he joins them and embarks on an adventure that will see some very funny dramas, mishaps and even murder as the gang attempt to clear their names whilst taking on corrupt police.

The book opens with Al as he spends time in prison and quickly takes us to the events which have led him there.. The writing is refreshingly witty and Murray's style and character development are second to none. Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read this in advance.

Al is living the dream in a number of big, fancy houses. The only problem is, none of them are his. He is an undetectable squatter, and is getting away with it thanks to his list of rules. Until suddenly things start to go wrong, and then from bad to worse ... And before he knows it, there is a dead body.

This is such a clever and well written book, with brilliant characters and an excellent sense of humour. The murder mystery did start to drag a bit around the middle, but I loved the final twist! I do hope we see Al again some day ...

A very entertaining thriller whose argument revolves around a number of hot issues (property market, laundering money, foreign dodgy governments...) in a humorous, quirky style. The main characters are young, intelligent and bonkers., the setting is believably conveyed, dialogue fun. A good read! I would be reading a sequel and I hope I do.

What a wonderfully enjoyable read! I’m a fan of Caimh McDonnell’s writing and this had a similar style and content - fast paced, witty, self deprecating humour and a bunch of colourful characters. Yes, it got a little more far fetched as time went on, but this is fiction, just go with it and enjoy the tale.

A light read with a unique premise that will leave you smiling.
Al (not his real name), unbeknown to the owners, stays in people’s luxurious homes when they are away. He terms himself an ‘interloper’. During one of these stays one owner turns up unexpectedly and the plot develops from there.
This novel has a great blend characters that are likeable, engaging and well developed. The growing relationship between Al, Em, Elle and Jonny makes for a compelling read.
Told in the first person by Al (MC), it’s fun, fast paced and humorous .
The plot is well conceived, entertaining and at times totally intriguing.
Overall, this was well written, witty and quirky.
Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley UK for the ARC.

Al breaks into houses. He doesn’t do it to steal.. He does it to have a place to stay. When he leaves, the house will be exactly as he found it on entering the property. When he discovers people are doing a similar sort of thing to him, he decides to go along with their methods and join them for once.

However, on the first property they enter they are greeted by the owner in an agitated state. His friends have obviously not done the reconnaissance that he would’ve done. Now the owner is dead. Al and his friends must try to discover who could’ve wanted this person dead in order to save themselves.

I really enjoyed this book, and it gave me an insight into the way. Other people may live. I was gripped to the very end and certainly didn’t figure out the guilty person a book, well worth reading .

Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the opportunity to see DRC

This was a really hard book for me to stick with. The style of writing is not for me but I can see why it would be good for others.
The story just seems a little boring and don’t grip me like I expected it too.

Many thanks to NetGalley, Random House UK and Andrew Hunter Murray for my ARC of ‘A Beginner’s Guide to Breaking and Entering’.

A thoroughly entertaining read which was different to my usual but well worth it.

Al spends his life living in other people’s houses while they are away. He doesn’t take anything and considers it fair game.

Then it all goes wrong.

Highly recommended
