This is a great cookbook for anyone looking to make quick, healthy meals. All recipes are well set out and easy to follow. I cannot wait to try out some of the recipes
I found this book to be quite helpful when talking with my college bound son about the challenges he was going to face when it came to limiting the amount of fast food and the importance of eating healthy while away and being able to have a plan in place to help him. Definitely a worthwhile read. I thank Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.
Fueling Success: Nutritious and Quick Recipes for College Students is a self-help/quasi cookbook that has hints and suggestions for college students to survive the rigors of college and eat healthy at the same time. The premise is very good, but the actual content of the book is colorless and downright boring. There are, however a few interesting recipes, some that are quick and easy, so college students can get some good ideas for meals. The book contains helpful hints and ideas for eating and staying healthy during stressful times, and they can be applied to everyone – even those of us who aren’t in college anymore.
Some of the recipes include quantities of ingredients; many do not. Honestly, how many students want to make dishes that they have to guess how much of each ingredient will taste good? College students usually focus on their classes and learning and not having to test recipes just so they can eat.
There is not even one photograph of a dish in this book. While the book focuses on things important to college students such as budget cooking, quick recipes, mindfulness, etc., it doesn’t put emphasis on the actual recipes, which are the entire reason for a cookbook. The information included is good, but nothing in the book is new or innovative.
All told, this may very well be the worst excuse for a cookbook out there. College students have enough to worry about without having to guess the quantities of ingredients to make their recipes palatable. While most of the ingredients are healthy, putting them together without quantities will certainly be a disaster. The information is nothing new, and it is, in a word, Boring.
Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.
