The first half of this book I loved, though it was somewhat repetitive (I will include that below so as not to spoil anything). I was loving it, I couldn't put it down. Then the book's second half came and I no longer loved it.

I don't know how it's possible, but it was drawn out and fast-moving at the same time. The twists weren't as built up as I thought they would be. Some things happened that didn't make sense at all. The characters had no depth, It was also like they all had multiple personalities.

I tried. I wanted to love it, but I didn't

Here are the parts I found repetitive:

Haley mentions multiple times how Willa took the last semester off.

Haley mentions how her dad let Lara's family skip rent multiple times.

She talks about the prints on the baby bottle a bunch of times.

Also, what was the point of mentioning a serial killer in the beginning if that had nothing to do with the story? I kept thinking Liam was going to be a killer.

Wow! This book had so many twists I was dizzy by the time I finished it! If you are a fan of psychological thrillers then this is the book for you just when you think you may have it figured out something is revealed that changes everything.

The story starts quickly and develops the characters carefully. Haley is a 27-year-old college student in need of a summer job. She puts out an ad to be a nanny and is quickly contacted by a family with twin girls, she agrees to a trial run on a Friday night and that's when everything changes. When the parents arrive home they accuse Haley of doing something to their baby, but Haley never knew there was a baby! What is going on with this family and can Haley escape their allegations?

The plot is well thought out and though it gets a little slow in the middle it is worth it to continue reading because the end is eye opening! This is my first book by Shari J. Ryan and will not be the last. I hope you enjoy this carefully spun psychological thriller as much as I did!

Overall an okay read, not quite the page turner I was hoping for. A few twists and turns, with an end I didn’t see coming…definitely worth a read.

Haley Vaughn needs a summer job to pay her share of the rent and puts out an advert for a position as Nanny. She gets a call from Lara Smith who needs someone to care for her nine year-old twin daughters. Haley goes to their home where she meets the two girls and is shown around their rooms before Lara and her husband Corbin leave for the evening. On their return they accuse her of harming their baby Fallon, but Haley wasn’t told there was a third child in the house and definitely hasn’t harmed her.

‘The Perfect Nanny’ is a psychological thriller with an unusual plot of hidden agendas and an even more unusual twist at the end that I wasn’t expecting and bore no reality to the rest of the story. I was gripped until half-way through then it became far-fetched and unbelievable with too many characters wanting to exact revenge. It felt as if the author was trying too hard to shock and although the novel showed promise I didn’t enjoy it as much as I thought I would.

OMG this book was way more better than I could have hoped for.
I was hooked from the first page and I didn't wanted to stop reading it because I just had to know what had happened to the missing baby.

While reading this book I had many theories and to my liking the book contains many twists that I couldn't see coming which makes this a really great thriller according to me.

This was my first time reading something by this author and it definitely won't be the last either.
I think I have found a new favorite author in this genre because the story and writing was all that.

The Perfect Nanny by Shari J. Ryan has written another enthralling novel.
This is a very well woven story with a great plot and some clever twists.
A truly enjoyable read that had me quickly flipping pages.
The author weaves the details of the story in this way to keep the reader guessing about what was truly happening until the very end.
I thought the pacing was excellent and the tension steadily built throughout the book.
TPN is intriguing and captivating and will have you sitting on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next.

Don’t get me wrong, the writing style was really good in my opinion. It just didn’t follow a timeline that made sense. It just all seemed rushed. It was like we started out getting context for how she got the job but then rushed to getting arrested and all that jazz really quickly in the beginning. I would still recommend this book to friends who love thrillers though.

I rarely if ever DNF a book and I almost did this one and now that I finished it I wish I would have. I mean so much of this book doesn’t make sense for one thing wouldn’t soon after being arrested she would explain to the police that these people didn’t have a baby and how good of an actor and actress are the parents that they make the police believe they had a baby despite no baby pictures or propaganda anywhere in the downstairs where she would’ve been babysitting Fallon I don’t get how does it get all the way to an arraignment before anyone realizes there was no baby when they left to go to the night out. That isn’t the only thing the whole starting to see Liam the day after being accused of kidnapping in the whole thing with their parents this book was just ridiculous most of that made no sense and that’s the part that wasn’t boring me to death ended when they were in the arraignment the defendant makes their plea then the judge says they’ll be a 10 minute recess and then it says my mouth dropped open… Why because of a recess? The writing style is all over the place some questions were never answered and some answered made no sense. This book sounded like it was going to be so good but I thought the writing was horrible the plot was all over the place and when she was calling her parents crazy it really just made her look like a loony tune. I think I could’ve written a better book. I guess I still want to thank the author and net galley for the free arc copy please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

Haley Vaughn is nearly done earning her degree in psychology, and wants to work with children. She gets a nanny job that starts off babysitting for twin nine-year-old girls. The mother is Lara Smith and she asks Haley to babysit the girls one evening at first to see whether or not she would be a good fit for the family.

When Haley arrives, she meets the girls and there are only a couple of rules. At the end of the night after arriving home, the father Corbin panics - "where is she?! Haley has no idea what he is talking about. The twins are tucked safely in beds and the night went rather well in her opinion. Panic increases and Haley is confused.

There is a missing baby. A missing baby? Haley didn't know anything about a baby. She was hired to babysit the twins and when she arrived she met the girls, and there was absolutely no evidence of a baby. Lara never indicated there was a third child, nor did the girls. Lara is insistent that Haley has done something to her baby.

Manipulation is key in this latest psychological thriller by Shari J. Ryan. Then the reader just might wonder if the style of this book leads to an unreliable narrator. Is Haley to be trusted? Did she actually know abut the baby? What about the parents, Lara and Corbin? Is something more afoot?

This exciting thriller leads the reader down a path of confusion, and that makes this book impossible to put down. This is especially the case when it becomes apparent that Haley is not who she said she is. Then there is the behavior of the twins. What is it about them that makes this book a chilling read?

If you want a book with excellent pacing, with more than one jaw-dropping twist thrown in, then look no further than The Perfect Nanny.

The Perfect Nanny was a good thriller, it did get a little confusing with the psychology jargon in places and I got a bit lost in all the lies and hidden agendas.

Haley needs a summer job to pay her rent so she advertises to be a nanny for the summer. She is offered a job by Lara but is it too good to be true? On her trial night Lara and Corban arrive home and start asking where a 3rd child is and Haley is arrested for kidnapping.

What follows is a twisted tale of revenge by multiple people. I did think there were a few too many twists, the story does become quite unbelievable in places and it is difficult to like any of the characters by the end

I thought the premise to this book was brilliant. Recently, the nanny trope in thriller novels has become increasingly popular, but the plot to this one stands out from the rest with a twist that I did not see coming. That being said, I did find the twist to be so fierce that it seemed to be a separate thought from the rest of the book altogether and detracted a bit from the main story line; in this case, less would have been more. Despite this, I did enjoy reading overall and would recommend anyone who enjoys the trope or wants to see a unique twist on it!

Soon she is contacted by Lara Smith to babysit her nine-year-old twin girls Madden and Blakely on the Friday night and if all goes well Lara will offer Haley the position of Nanny over the summer. To Haley it sounded like a dream job, and all goes well on Friday night, the girls a well behaved and easy going but just as Lara offers Haley the summer nanny position her husband asks where is the baby? What baby? Haley was hired to look after twin nine-year-old girls there was no mention of a baby. Now the Smiths are calling the police and Haley’s dream summer job has suddenly turned in to a nightmare.


I enjoyed this book very much and could not wait to see how it ends. I loved the twist towards the end that I would have never guessed.

Shari Ryan is a master thriller writer. Her characters are well developed and believable, the plot is gripping and the twists are so unexpected that they are like a punch in the gut that leaves you gasping for breath!

Haley Vaughn is looking for work as a Nany to bring in some money during the holidays having finished for the university holidays. Haley places an ad in the local paper and is soon contacted by Lara Smith to look after her 9 year old twins.

Lara asks Haley to complete a first aid course before offering her the job of looking after the twins and agreeing to pay $40 an hour.

Haley is made up and soon comes over one evening to look after the twins whilst their parents go out. The only rule given to Haley by the twins father Corbin is that the twins must not play hide and seek. Strange but okay… the twins prove to be a bit of a handful for Haley, they seem determined to disobey and play hide and seek resulting in Haley sending the twins to bed early and not finishing the film they’d started.

When the Smiths return home everything is calm until Lara mentions their baby girl is missing. Haley is confused for a baby was never mentioned before by Lara or Corbin and she is certain that had a baby cried at any point she would have heard it. The police are called and Haley is taken away for questioning after the Smiths accuse her of stealing their baby girl Fallon.

What I loved about this psychological thriller is that there was so much going on within the book I didn’t know which way to turn or what was coming next. It soon becomes clear the 2 families have a long history and no one in this book is who they say they are. You literally cannot trust anyone which always makes for an interesting read.

I did not see that twist coming at the end, in fact I had no idea at all where this book was going to finish up. I’m not saying anything else in this review as I think in this case less is more and I don’t want to give anything away.

Only Ryan can write such a delightfully diabolical thriller!
At times I had to check my sanity as I read because there are seriously messed up characters in the story.
Not only are they messed up but they’re all liars. The biggest liar was staring me in the face but I wasn’t aware of it because Ryan kept pointing me down a different path and I glibly followed it.
Then she pulled the rug out from underneath me and my jaw dropped.
No one is safe from the evil culprit in the book, don’t trust anyone!

I could not turn the pages fast enough! The premise immediately drew me in with its shocking, seemingly inexplicable situation. I couldn't wait to find out what was behind it all. Loved the reveals and twists coming at jus the right time and pace! Just great storytelling!

I saw some people raving about this in a Facebook group and was so excited to get to read it. It was worth the hype 100%! Highly recommend. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for my honest review

Haley takes a babysitting job and is accused of kidnapping by the end of the night.

This one was certainly exciting and fast paced from the very beginning, but much of it felt unrealistic to me. The characters has an odd way of communicating that didn’t sit right with me. I kept at it thinking maybe there was more to it, which there was, but I found it too overly done to rate it much higher.
