Meet Raya, a Muslim girl whose parents are from two different cultures but share the joys of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr. Through words and illustrations we learn that Ramadan is a month of showing mercy, doing good deeds, and fasting during the day for that month. At the end is the celebration of Eid Al-Fitr and there is even a special recipe included. I learned a lot about an important day that I knew little about.
The illustrations by Nadiyah Suyatna are fun, complex, colorful, and delightful.
Well suited for reading WITH someone of any age including ESL, and great for gifting to anyone, but especially to a school or your local public library!
I requested and received a free temporary e-book on Adobe Digital Editions from Quarto Publishing Group – words & pictures, words & pictures via NetGalley. Thank you!

Thank you Quarto Publishing Group for a copy of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr!

The artwork is amazing and the storyline is easy to follow - perfect for children and adults! A great way to teach children (and adults) about a cultural tradition that they may not be familiar with. This book should be in every classroom and library!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an electronic copy to read in exchange for an honest review.

As a teacher I'm always looking for diverse books that I can add to our classroom library. This one was fantastic - from the engaging and colorful illustrations, the gentle way the author shares information about Eid and Ramadan, to the more formal information included at the end. This is a must have for sure!

This book is a good source to introduce Ramadan to children even adults who want to understand about concept of fasting in Ramadan. And also about the celebration after it.Nice colorful illustrations.
There was double printing issues in the book which I hope won't be part of final printing.

I feel the author missed a valuable learning tool. The pictures were wonderful and colourful but there was no explanation as to what was happening. The information was at the back of the book in an adult format. I would have loved a simplified into Ramadan.
Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to see an arc

I LOVE THIS!!!
This is one of the best introductory of Ramadan that I've ever read. The art style and color palette are jaw dropping. I like it so much.
The explanation is clear, informative, and factual. It was easy to understand and give the best representation Islam and Ramadan~
Go give it a read for young readers out there to know about Islam more~

I received a copy of this from NetGalley.

A good introduction to Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr for non-Muslims (or young Muslims!). I enjoyed the illustrations.

As a Muslim nursery practitioner I always find it difficult to find books that are pretty, factually correct and simple enough for the children to understand and absorb. This book ticks all those boxes.

We follow Raya and her family during the process of ramadan and eid, finding out what is done the Islamic way and what it done personally as friends/family/a community.

The information is correct and I can't wait for it to come out so I can purchase it to read to the children!

Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr by Sara Khan tells a story of how a family spend their time during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr. This book is perfect for children who don't know how they should spend their time during Ramadan and how they should celebrate Eid al-Fitr.

It was difficult to find children book which tells about Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr and finally Sara Khan released such book. There might be some books that informs children and adults about the same topics but this one is perfect for children, especially with illustrations that accompany the story. I appreciate the information on terms and know-how for Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr which help to understand the topics better. Also because fasting might be difficult for children, adding activity by the end of the book helps them spending time waiting for break fasting time.

I just wish the ones I read had better editing, since my copy still has typos and lots of misplacement for paragraphs that I had difficulties reading, especially on information pages. Nonetheless it is a great read for children, especially it was meant to be released nearing Ramadan time in 2024.

In this lovely book, Raya, a little muslim girl, walks the readers through the Ramadhan and Eid celebrations. The book explains how Muslim families spend a typical month of Ramadhan, with a nice emphasis on the values and behaviors that are particularly encouraged during that holy month (generosity, patience, kindness, etc.).

What a beautiful book ! It makes a perfect gift for little children (a much needed reminder for some adults also hmm). This is a carefully crafted book : the concept is brilliant, the writing is good, the illustrations are beautiful and the bonus games are fun and relevant since it's a mix of educational games and fun activities ! Totally recommend !

Thank you NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group for giving me access to this e-ARC for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

I counted 27 pages with only illustrations. It was confusing to have the first page show text plus an illustration followed by so many illustrations-only pages. The author had valuable information about Ramadan at the end of this picture book, but why couldn’t some of these facts be placed throughout the book? Public libraries try to highlight all holidays, but there are better picture books available about this holiday.

This is a fun book explaining in simple terms about Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr. The child who narrates this picture book explains all the food, and activities that she experiences with her parents and community. She even has a good deed calendar for each of the 29-30 days of Ramadan, with suggestions of what she can do for others.

There are also recipes at the end of the book and fun facts and a quiz. The five pillars of Islam are explained. All in all a good introduction to Ramadan for those children who are curious about the celebration.

Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review. This book is coming out on the 6th of February 2024.

What a beautifully illustrated book to help children learn more about Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr. As a parent I want my children to have an awareness and understanding of cultures beyond their own. This book will be a wonderful way of helping them to understand the importance of these holidays for those that celebrate. I love the addition of the recipe as well!
