This book was so refreshing and relatable. I’m always dubious about self help books but this book really struck a perfect balance between storytelling and support strategies. Perfect for anyone struggling with even the slightest bit of burnout! Highly recommend!

Whilst not a perfect fit for my students, there are huge elements of this book that I have taken to help support and educate students, parents, and colleagues that are struggling with burnout. And as someone that has faced it myself, so many parts resonated with me.

A great educational read.

The Cure for Burnout offers a good description of the three main different types of burnout, the symptoms to look out for, and ways to support yourself (or others) through burnout and how to spot it coming down the tracks.

Ballesteros combines research with a friednly tone, so this book reads very conversationally, Tying in her own experiences and those of clients that she has coached helps the reader to see exactly how these tips can be applied in real life.

Whilst there was nothing groundbreaking in this book, it is a solid guide to avoiding, or navingating your way through burnout.

The Cure for Burnout is a practical guide on what steps to take when one find themselves in an overwhelmed state- to be honest I expected something new as most of the tips seemed common sense to me and it's quite hard to actually implement tougher changes when you are suffering from burnout.

However I would say this is a great starting point but it cannot be the end- Burnout is a serious condition and must be taken care of with the help of health professionals which I think the book should have highlighted more. However, like I said, good starting point for people who need to realize or confirm that what they are going through is actually burnout and not just a 'rough time' .

Fast paced and well written.

**Listened to the audiobook, as well as reading the hard copy**

After being diagnosed with M.E/CFS around 6 years ago, I'm always on the look out for books that claim to help with energy and burnout. I have read A LOT!! This book, didn't really tell me anything new. It felt like 'common sense'a lot of the time. I was left very much disappointed. (If you're after a more in-depth book on the topic then I would really recommend Burnt Out: The exhausted person's six-step guide to thriving in a fast-paced world by Selina Barker.)

The narrator of the audiobook was very whiney - which made me reach for the hard copy more than the audio.

Overall this book was just OK. Not particularly one I would recommend on the topic - there are better books out there.

As someone who just is recovering from the depths of serious burnout (thanks ADHD) this book was a fantastic look into how to avoid it moving forward. It took me ages because I wanted to take detailed notes and my time going through it and I’m so glad I did.

I didnt realise until I came through burnout just how taxing it is on the mind, body, and soul, and I am truly hoping to never end up there again. The tiredness and just wanting to melt into the couch was exhausting and Emily Ballesteros does a great job at explaining the why, but also how to fix it.

I’m hit or miss with self-help books, but this one is one I’m very grateful to have a copy of, so thank you NetGalley & Bonnier for supplying me with a copy. This book is going to be one on my shelf for life!

A truly empowering book that looks at burnout management holistically. Firstly, I must thank the publisher and NetGalley for letting me read the ARC copy before its publication date. What Emily Ballesteros describes in the book, including constantly feeling exhausted whilst having to catch up on work all the time, feels all too familiar to me. ⁣

I found the following really resonating with me. ⁣

“The resources I did find were out of touch with the modern demands of the virtual workforce (like, say, the suggestion to “leave work at work,” with no clear plan for how to cauterize work from life in a time when our work is literally in our home and on the phone that’s attached to our hand) and riddled with obvious advice (“get enough sleep”), or they recommended that I cut something out. Quit the job. Pause the degree. Be ruthless about saying no to new opportunities. But the problem was: I wanted to keep doing everything I was doing. I liked my colleagues and my job; I wanted this degree and was interested in the material. Independently, each element was fulfilling enough not to give up. But combined, it was too much for anyone to complete comfortably. At the end of each day, I didn’t wish for a different life with different goals; I just wished it wasn’t so hard. I wanted to keep doing what I was doing without feeling like it was taking everything from me.”⁣

Ballesteros explains the three categories of burnout, namely burnout by volume, social burnout and burnout by boredom. She then dedicates a chapter each to the five pillars of burnout management, including mindset, personal care, time management, boundaries and stress management. ⁣

The book is filled with practical advice and whether you’re suffering from burnout, I’m sure you’ll find a thing or two to implement.⁣

Out in the UK on 15 February. Can’t wait to recommend it to friends!
