Rijks’ writing out me through the wringer with this one, never knowing what was coming next with twists and turns on every page, all of which were executed perfectly. That one last twist at the end was a knife to the heart!

Make Her Pay

Psychological thriller

Leonie made a mistake a long time ago, the past always haunts you after getting married and thinking that life couldn't get much better. The past starts to slowly come up and catches up to Leonie real fast.

Okay, so this was just an odd book it was interesting and kept me entertained till it just got to be too much. The whole past catches up and makes everything so weird the revenge aspect is intense. I didn't care for any of the characters and I just wanted it to end.

Thank you, Inkubator books and Net Galley for the eARC for an honest review

A very enjoyable read with many twists throughout.

I enjoyed the dual narration - it was a great way to piece the story together by hearing it told from the perspective of two different characters. It certainly added to the mystery of what what would happen next.

I'm a little uncertain how I feel about the ending, however, I do feel that it wrapped the story up nicely.

Certainly a worthwhile read.

Some of you know that @mirandarijksauthor is an Author I recommend as much as I can so I jumped at the chance to bag a space on the @zooloosbooktours for this!

Leonie is a successful Businesswoman, she's met Markus & everything seems to be going great for her. However, she is harbouring a secret from years ago that only one person knows about. A devastating accident with a tragic outcome.

As her wedding day nears She fears someone is out to get her, is Markus who he seems, does someone else know her secret or is she just paranoid???

Another corker from Miranda. Despite guessing who someone was I didn't see other bits coming, I second guessed myself a few time & then when it all came together....wow!

A gripping mind bending read!

Leonie is living her best life. She’s successful and about to marry the man of her dreams. Weighing her down is a terrible mistake she made when she was only sixteen. As things start going wrong, she cant help but wonder if her past is catching up with her …

It’s a very cleverly plotted, twisty tale with characters you love to hate.

If you’re looking for a compelling thriller, pick this up! The audio narration by Charlie Albers and Ella Lynch was fantastic.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Inkubator Books for an e-ARC.

Leonie is living her best life. Still in her twenties, she’s beautiful, successful and has just met Markus, the man of her dreams.

But Leonie has a secret. Ten years ago, she was involved in an accident in which another driver died. Leonie shouldn’t have been behind the wheel that night – no license, no insurance – so she fled the scene. And ever since, she’s been struggling to deal with the terrible guilt.

Now, as her wedding to Markus draws near, it seems someone is out to get her. It’s little things at first – botched work appointments, a cancelled bridal dress - but it soon escalates into a terrifying campaign which threatens her business, her family and even her life.

Leonie, caught up in a relentless nightmare, has no idea why anyone would set out to destroy her. Until she realizes there’s a link to the accident that happened all those years ago.

Someone knows what she did. Someone is determined to make her pay.

Make Her Pay – the gripping psychological thriller from the best-selling author of The Visitors and What She Knew.

I really enjoyed this story.

Reading Between the Wines book review #23/130 for 2024:
Rating: 3 🍷 🍷 🍷
Book: Make Her Pay
Author: Miranda Rijks

Sipping thoughts: I love Miranda Rijks and there isn’t a book that she has written that I have not enjoyed. This book full of revenge, lies, secrets and deceit took a few turns that I did not anticipate. I’ve heard revenge is best served cold but in this book the revenge is set from the depths of hell. I wished there was more time spent on the ending as I think it was a little rushed. I was also hoping for a different turn but enjoyed it all the same.

Cheers and thank you to @InkubatorBooks and @Netgalley for an advanced copy of @MakeHerPay.

This book was a wild ride. I did not anticipate that ending. This was a good thriller that had a lot of interesting things going on. Miranda Rijkas is becoming a must read author of mine because her books are so gripping and engrossing.

As the title suggests, this book is all about revenge. There were so many twists and turns in this book, that I got whiplash! What a wild ride!

Lennie made a mistake when she was 16, but she’s gone onto build a great life for herself. Yet, someone knows her secret and is determined to make her pay. We find out early on what the secret is, but there was no way to predict the ride that was to come. This story is told from two POVs - the two female protagonists. This book grabbed my attention from the beginning, and kept me intrigued until the jaw dropping ending.

The characters weren’t’t likeable, but I feel that was the author’s intent, and it played into the plot development well. This was my first book by this author, but it definitely won’t be my last.

Thank you NetGalley and Inkubator Books for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Make Her Pay by Miranda Rijks
(Narrated by Charlie Albers; Ella Lynch)

Suspenseful and twisty thriller!

Leonie involved in a fatal hit and run accident ten years ago and which she didn’t expect that it connected to her current life. She’s now going to marry the perfect man, Marcus. But, was Marcus that perfect for her?

A smartly written thriller with full of surprises. It kept myself guessing what’s happening next. Both narrators did a great job to create that suspense vibe.

Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for my copy.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC. Unfortunately it wasn't for me. It started out ok but then just got dumb. Plot hole after plot hole.

Make Her Pay is a sloooow burn. This is a psychological thriller where the reader knows what's happening the whole time. We know who is trying to hurt Leonie. We know why they are trying to hurt Leonie. But Leonie doesn't know what is happening and why. It is very much a story about a woman - even two women - scorned and how one decision can drastically change the trajectory of your life once you allow someone you trust to take control.

Revenge is a dish served best cold. After an accident that could have changed the direction of her life, Leonie goes to work for her father and tries to put everything behind her.
