Cute book. Had small town Hallmark movie vibes. Wish some of the characters were more developed l. Also would have been great if a couple of Quinn's recipes were included somewhere in the book.

Thank you for the opportunity to read this ARC before its published date. Unfortunately, this book just didn't make it for me. While I don't mind hallmark type romance, this was just too slow and I felt no connection to the characters. It might be for someone else, just not me.

Rating : 2.5/5

I had really high hopes for this read from the second I saw “Gilmore Girls meets Sweet Home Alabama” as I’m a HUGE Gilmore Girls fan and thought this would be right up my street. I wasn’t a fan of our main characters, Quinn and Ty as they came across very childish and immature. I feel the audience is more aimed towards 16-18 years and may be the reason why I didn’t connect with the characters.

I did enjoy the small town romance feel this book has. This is definitely the main similarity for me to Gilmore Girls as it had a Stars Hollow feel to it.

This was cute and fun. I wasn't expecting any type of vibes from it... but it felt like a small town hallmark rom com. I enjoyed this book.

I had the pleasure of reading NGBT thanks to @netgalley!

A must read if you like:
🏡 Small Town
💔 Second Chance
💏 High school sweethearts
🍿 Forced proximity
💊 Chronic illness
🍪 Food!

This was a great way to end my year of reading, with a small town, second chance romance worthy of a TV movie 🎬
We follow Quinn and Ty, whose childhood love ended badly. But when they meet again, years later, both realise that they are not immune to each other's charms. Between reunions, misunderstandings and secrets, Quinn and Ty will have to overcome their past to find each other again!
This is a beautiful romantic comedy, which deals as much with family and community as it does with illness and helping each other. It's sweet, light and a super easy read 🥰

SUMMARY:
Quinn would have been perfectly happy to pretend her ex-boyfriend Ty Rossi didn't exist. But when their mutual friend has a family emergency and has to leave town suddenly, Quinn and Ty find themselves in charge of their town's Founders Festival.
If they can survive a whole week of co-organising events without murdering each other, it will be a miracle. Their tempers flare whenever they're together. But the more time she spends with Ty, the more Quinn wonders if all those sparks aren't fuelled entirely by hatred.

Some of the aspects I enjoyed within the book was the positive representation of chronic illness and the premise that initially sounded charming. I enjoyed my time with this story, but I wasn't particularly fond of the characters and I would say that it is the sort of story you may appreciate more if you are younger. I am in my early twenties so personally, I didn't really connect with the characters and while I could understand their appeal, the female main character came across as quite childish, making it challenging to connect with her perspective. In additiona, I didn't personally like the male love interest as I found him to be quite lacking in depth, and the overall chemistry between the characters also felt lacking, with the reasons for their breakup not being fully explored. Despite this, I did appreciate the story for what it was, and it was a good read.

Imagine you are temporarily in charge of the End of Summer Madness Festival in Stars Hollow and you have to team up with your ex-boyfriend whom you despise. All the while trying to finish a certification program and launch your own business. This book bring the small town charm in spades. If you are a lover of Gilmore Girls, I think this book is for you.

Quinn struggles with a chronic illness that effects every aspect of her life, especially the food she intakes. She is looking to start her own business helping others make food plans and learn different swaps for recipes i.e. gluten and dairy free. While trying to complete all of that, she volunteers to help run her small town's Founder's Festival with the help of her ex-boyfriend, who is back home for the summer. Quinn can't stand Ty Rossi and wants nothing to do with him and his pranks. And as the title of the book suggests Quinn and Ty are NEVER getting back together, but maybe Quinn has is all wrong.

This book was a fun read, it kept me interested enough to keep reading it and there was for sure some highlighter worthy moments. This was a closed door romance with no spice which was fine. I always prefer spice in my romance but this one kept my interest. I am glad that I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review. I would not have found this book other wise and I think the Author did a really good job of representing a chronic illness she herself has and struggles with.

I wanted a light-hearted story when I chose Never Getting Back Together. I almost didn't finish the book because the MFC was so immature and childish and stuck in her own head that it irritated me. Part of the story line is how she lives with an uncommon and debilitating health issue that leads her to want a career in nutrition counseling. she doesn't seem as interested in how she can help as in how she can benefit.
The idea two people just out of high school could go three long years after without communicating yet remain in love to the exclusion of any other relationships in unbelievable. Ty goes off to UCLA and exercises to remain loyal to the girl back home who he thinks and believes made it clear she wants nothing more to do with him? I seriously doubt it. Quinn's refusal to give him a break when he comes home, to trust at all even as she learns she was wrong, is a red flag most guys would walk away from in a heartbeat - even in a romance. It seemed both characters were stuck in a holding pattern over three years until they came back together in this story. If they'd had some experiences that led them back together and to the rediscovery of each other I would have found it more believable.
Thank You Kristi Meyer for the ARC in exhchange for a review.

I heard Gilmore Girls like small town rom com and said sign me up!!! But this book honestly fell flat for me.
I thought Rosedale was such a cute small town and was similar to Stars Hollow with the summer fest!
I liked the main character, Quinn, and thought that her subplots were more interesting than the actual romance. I thought that Ty was a mediocre love interest and that there was little to no chemistry between the two. I needed more tension and scenes with just the two of them.

I received an advanced copy of this book to read and review :)

Right from the beginning this book gives off strong Gilmore Girl vibes. It was easy to get sucked in and a sweet, fun read.

There were some things I felt were brought up as being important but then there wasn’t really a clear resolution.

Overall I would definitely recommend.

I received this book for netgalley in exchange for a review.
Very cute cover and blurb gave me Gilmore Girls vibes and plenty of other romances like they had in that show. It was cute and i did enjoy. Now dont dislike this part.. But i dont care for Taylor Swift.. Yes i know how can i not like her i liked her earlier music but not crazy about it. And i felt this book was alot to point out for Taylor Swift fans but i think without those mentions of her would have been a 5 star for me. I think it would have been amazing to me. But that doesnt mean the book is horrible its not i loved it.

my first arc review!!! 😄 thank you to netgalley and krysti meyer for this arc in exchange for my honest review! if you're looking for a second chance, small town romance then this book is definitely for you!

first off, i didn't love nor hate this book, it was just kind of whatever. i feel as though this book just wasn't for me or targeted for me. i felt as though this book was super childish and immature for my liking. i was not a fan of quinn or ty, let alone their relationship together.

second off, the personalities??? where were they? are the personalities in the room with us? 👀 quinn... the personality... where was she?? i feel that there really was no sustenance to her. she was just always reminiscing back on her relationship with ty and their past and wondering what happened instead of communicating with him. the repetition of this just got too boring too fast. however, i did like that she was a representation for a chronic illness especially one that is lesser known to probably a lot of people. onto ty now, he is one of the most boring love interests i've ever read about and not to mention so childish with all his pranks. like come on, you're not 12 anymore. it felt like he had zero growth since high school. the lack of communication between the two main characters was super frustrating and a lot of their problems or assumptions could definitely have been resolved a lot sooner (like years).

overall, just because this book wasn't for me doesn't mean that it won't be for someone else!! 🫶🏼

The book was cute and I had a good time reading it, but I just didn’t like the characters very much. I could see the appeal of them, but the FMC was kind of annoying and childish and it was rough being in her head. It’s also felt extremely unrealistic that the couple would both still have the feelings they do when it’s been three year and they are LITERAL adults. Furthermore, I just could not see any real reason why they would still like each other or why they should be together again. I just didn’t really feel the chemistry of the characters, and there didn’t really like the reason they broke up was fully explained, nor ever fully resolved. It was cute, not my thing, but I did LOVE the chronic illness representation.

This was a cute, sweet, second chance romance. I feel like I would have loved this when I was a teenager and in my T-Swift era.

The characters were a little immature and there wasn’t much tension between them. No spice or heat. It really felt like it was targeted towards middle school/maybe high school age girls.

However, there were some cute and sweet moments. The highlight of this book is that it has a really important message as the fmc struggles with with a chronic illness that isn’t well known and very expensive to treat called Mast Cell Activation Syndrome. I think the author was trying to bring awareness to this cause which is really important.

What a cute and sweet YA read!! This would be perfect for a high school or college age read, a very sweet story about two young kids who were in love in high school and called it quits on their relationship after getting in trouble. This was a very genuine and wholesome second chance romance of two people who are just going through life and doing their best at it and trying to be good people and good in their relationship.

I found the story heartwarming and really appreciated how hard Quinn was working to improve food and diets for those with chronic illnesses and how Ty wanted to support her. I love seeing that genuine realness in a book.

A sweet YA story! Thank you to NetGalley and the Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA) for the ARC!

I liked it but it's not much to write about. It's a cute and sweet small town romance. I appreciated the author bringing awareness to MCAS! I hadn't known about it and was glad to learn about it. As someone with severe eczema, I related with the Quinn. I also have to super careful with what I eat to avoid flareups.

I like Quinn, I thought she made a great protagonist. She's sweet, kind, and people pleaser. However, with her chronic illness and history, she learns to be confident in herself. You see lots of growth from her.

Tyler though.... sigh. He's was OK sometimes, but other times, I thought Quinn could do better. I didn't like how it made it seem like Quinn should forgive Tyler for his pranks. Quinn was justified in her anger and resentment. I would too if my boyfriend caused me to be arrested and expelled.

Overall, this was cute. The plot wasn't complex. There weren't many conflicts. There were lots of Taylor Swift references which I know plenty of fans would appreciate. It was a short and easy read.

I loved this! I enjoyed the lovers to enemies to lovers between Quinn and Ty. The small town setting was so fun and definitely gave me Gilmore Girl's vibes. I wish we had a Founder's Festival where I live so I can participate in all the fun activities. I also want to try all the recipes Quinn made throughout the book. It was refreshing to see chronic illness portrayed in a more positive light. Meyer did a great job of showing the reader that chronic illness doesn't have to define who you are and Quinn really embraced her circumstances.

I hope Meyer writes many more books!

This book started off cute & I was engaged but as I continued to read I slowly lost interest in the storyline. I felt myself skimming through, I really did try to love it.

I thought the chronic illness aspect of this book was written well.

Thanks Netgalley for sending me an arc!

I really wanted to get into this book especially with the title and Taylor Swift vibes. I found myself having a hard time getting into the book. I did enjoy the love story and the small town aspect of the book. I really liked the chronic illness rep as someone who has a chronic illness. Sometimes the romance aspect was lacking but I did enjoy it overall.

Very witty dialogue, a cute story about a second change romance.

I loved the story of Ty and Quinn and their journey of learning to trust each other again after Tys teen prank went too far and caused them to break up.
