The Doctors Mistress
By: Daniel Hurst
Absolutely the perfect ending to this series. I loved The Doctor’s Wife and The Doctors Widow!
Fern is on the run with her baby Cecelia after the women whom was in jail for Drew’s murder is set free. Fern and Alice’s husband murdered her husband Doctor Drew Devlin. fern has left a path of destruction.
Alice the mistress who also has a baby, Evelyn by Fern’s husband is set free. The detective who put Alice in prison is now in a relationship with her and helping her raise her baby.
Alice is suffering from depression and is out for revenge. She wants to find Fern but it won’t be easy. Fern has a new identity.
This psychological thriller is addictive and fast paced. Reading my way the rough Hurst novels. Trust me you won’t be disappointed.

Daniel Hurst is an insta-read for me, I enjoy his writing style and fast-paced domestic thrillers *so* much!
Told in three POVs - Alice (the mistress), Fern (the widow), and Tomlin (the detective, now dating Alice) - 'The Doctor's Mistress' keeps readers on the edge of their seats the whole way through. Alice and Fern now both have babies. Fern is on the run and Alice is on the hunt, with Tomlin on hand as her assistant. Everyone is at least a bit bad, but they're all very human and easy to get invested in.
The book has:
- well-developed, voicey characters that are easy to root for
- domestic intrigue! My favorite.
- unexpected twists
- double-crossing
- sexual intrigue (what else would you expect from a book with 'mistress' in the title? Even if said doctor is now dead)
Fans of domestic thrillers will love this. I did!
Thanks, NetGalley and Bookouture, for the gifted ARC in exchange for an honest review. And thanks, Daniel Hurst, for writing books that are so fun to read.
