The Guest was a fantastic read. I spent most of the time trying to work out what was going on, and what certain characters had to do with the larger plot, but I failed, I considered every scenario except the one it ended up being. I did not see the ending coming at all. I was left speechless. It's a real talent to write such a fantastic twist like the one in this book without springing a ‘ta-dah’ reveal that hadn't been weaved into the plot, and therefore makes no sense, which in turn annoys the reader. This reveal however just made me think, ‘Oh, of course, how didn't I see that.’ If you love pacy, clever thrillers with a big twist. You'll love this.
Gabriel and Iris thought they had the perfect life until everything went wrong. Gabriel witnessed the last breaths of a young patient and then their close friends seperate after some infidelity which in turn places strain on the relationship between Gabriel and Iris. When three more people they are close to die unexpectedly, there are many questions left to answer. This one had so many twists and turns and I did not see the ending coming at all. Great read.
Another great BA Paris book
This was a gripping well paced novel from BA Paris that just kept me gripped and puzzling what was going on and why?! The characters were good, who was up to no good - Iris and Gabriel, Lauren, Joseph or the new friends. Twists and turns of infidelity and murder and past traumas. A great read!
I'm giving five stars to this book for the ending alone. Wow! I truly did not see it coming.
Iris and Gabriel find their quiet life interrupted when a old friend, Laure, turns up at their house claiming that her husband, Pierre, had cheated on her and fathered a child. Unable to turn her away in her time of need Iris and Gabriel soon find out that Iris will not be there for a short stay. In the midst of Laure's personal crisis, the need to comfort her and also try to find some time for themselves we also learn that Gabriel is also going through a mental health crisis after finding a local boy dead several months before.
As Laure get her feet well and truly under the table Gabriel attempts to help reunite Laure and Pierre but is constantly met with barricades. Iris on the other hand is struggling to cope with the lack of space and time to herself. When they meet new local couple, Esme and Hugh, it looks like things are on the up. However an introduction to their alcoholic friend, Joseph soon means that chaos ensues. Iris is sure he is hiding a secret but what is it?
As Laure becomes more and more unpredictable Iris and Gabriel soon find themselves in the beginning of a never-ending nightmare.
I loved this book and really felt for Iris and Gabriel having to deal with an erratic house guest who wouldn't leave. Laure actually infuriated me.
I could not put this book down as I really needed to know why Pierre was being so dismissive and what Joseph's part was to play in everything. I am not exaggerating when I say I gasped as I read the final chapter. So, so smart. Well done to the author!

Anything by B.A. Paris and I’m reading it. This was no exception and another fantastic read.
Iris and Gabriel get home from a holiday to find close friend Laurie has moved herself in after leaving her husband Pierre. Quickly making herself at home- wearing Iris’ clothes, rearranging her kitchen and nestling herself into family life- Laurie quickly outstays her welcome but Iris and Gabriel can’t get her to move on. The shocking secrets begin to unravel as Laurie becomes more emotionally unstable.
An excellent read full of twists and turns, just when I thought I had it figured out, something else would crop up.
Thank you to NetGalley, B.A. Paris and Hodder & Stoughton for this ARC in return for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this one.it had me hooked from start to finish. I loved all of the different sub plots to the storyline and even though I guessed right in relation to who the daughter was I definetely didn’t see the big twist at the end.
Short and sharp writing had me flying through the pages at a alarming rate. They have returned from a holiday to find a house guest who has taken over and is not leaving. I felt frustrated because she wouldn't take a hint, The plot is dark and thrilling.
I could not put this book down! I am a huge fan of BA Guest and this book did not disappoint. The plot is incredible and it will keep you guessing until the very end. Highly recommend!
I was intrigued by this one from the very first page. This has been brilliant to read. I loved every moment. This is one that really pulls you in and grips you from the beginning. I was completely invested. I decoy this book in just one sitting.
Paris has written another masterful plot with intriguing and interesting characters. I have adored these from beginning to end but there’s a twist that has left me speechless.
I love how this is paced. The book is completely unique to anything I’ve read previously. Paris has this paced perfectly, it’s impossible to put this down. I became completely caught up in what was taking place.
This is a book that has me intrigued from just the title. It definitely hasn’t disappointed and I found this brilliant from beginning to end.
This is definitely twisted. There are parts that you really don’t see coming. The characters are a real mixed bunch and they are well developed. I loved the unpredictable nature of this book. It was one I couldn’t predict.
I absolutely adored this book. I’ve read all of the books by this author and I can safely say, this is one fantastic author. This is a great read that I highly recommend.
I have loved all previous books by BA Paris but I am disappointed with this one. I could not get into it at all. I did not find it interesting.
This was...fine. I was a little disappointed following behind closed doors, which I read last year and really enjoyed! However, this was still generally a good read. I think maybe I've been reading too many crime thrillers recently as I guessed in which direction this was going and was able to unravel the mystery...Still, maybe someone who reads less of the same would enjoy this more, and it's an easygoing quick read, so still will recommend!
One of my favourite authors and didn’t disappoint. Loved every page and didn’t want the story to finish. Highly recommend
You know what you are getting when you read a BA Paris Novel.
This was gripping from the beginning with a big twist
Loved it
This was an enjoyable and interesting read. The characters were believable and the book was well paced.
When the main characters arrive home to find an unexpected guest has moved in the reader has no idea how the story will progress. We learn their feelings and hear their secrets, there are hints and twists and maybe you can predict some of the events that occur but the ending will share details that you would never have guessed.
A worthy read.
I struggled to get into this book until at least 50% of the way through. But having read many excellent books from this author I kept reading.
Whilst it was ok, for me it lacked pace and clarity. I didn’t feel there was any depth to the characters which left me lacking connection to their stories. I felt the storylines were a bit much in places and somewhat unrealistic.
Overall I was underwhelmed by this book and left feeling slightly disappointed. Although the ending came completely out of left field which raised my rating from 2.5 to 3 stars.
Another gripping read with amazing characters…..Iris and Gideon are going through a hard time, even more so when a friend, who is going through a marriage problem comes to stay….and doesn’t seem to be leaving. Loved it! Couldn’t put it down. A step above other authors
This is my second B A Paris book, the first was Behind Closed Doors which I read last year and very much enjoyed.
I absolutely loved most of this one. I thought I had guessed what the ending was going to be quite quickly, I was close but not quite there right!
The big twist felt quite rushed, it could have been told a little slower. I don’t remember any hints or red herrings, so the twist did come completely out the blue.
I also don’t feel like it was super realistic but they usually aren’t with thrillers! Haha.
Just like the other book I read of this author I really enjoyed the writing style and was able to finish it reasonably quickly.
Thank you to NetGalley and Hodder & Stoughton for this ARC.
Iris and Gabriel are returning from holiday. On their arrival home they discover they have a house guest. Their old friend Laure from Paris is staying in the home. she arrived with nothing and is making full use of everything there including iris's clothes. She's left her husband Pierre after he told her that he fathered a child.
Gabriel has his own issues. Not long ago he was with a teen who took his last breath after an accident. The incident still haunts him. Initially, there house guest is a distraction but it soon wares thin after she overstays her welcome.
it soon becomes apparent that all members off the household have there secrets but what will they do to keep them hidden.
This is a great book. B.A Paris just gets better with every outing. Loved the twist at the end.
Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to see a DRC
This was a tad disappointing for me unfortunately. The twist was a bit disappointing and anticlimactic
3.75 stars - this gripped me from the start but lost me a little in the middle where it felt a bit repetitive. It seemed at parts that maybe too much was happening and I couldn’t figure out what turn it was going to take and then BAM, did not see the twist coming. Really picked up towards the end and loved the reveal.
