Overall a good read but took me a while to get into the storyline and for me personally it never seemed to get going.

I normally love books from this author but just felt it was all too slow and I wasn't keen on the characters.

Thank you to Netgalley and Hodder & Stoughton for this ARC.

Behind Closed Doors was a 5* read for me, so I was excited to read another by B.A. Paris. Unfortunately, this just didn’t hit the mark. The pace was frustratingly slow, all the characters were pretty unlikeable and the storyline just felt a bit boring. No twists, no turns at all until the epilogue, and by the time the epilogue came, I was almost past caring. The epilogue, however, was fantastic, it pulled it all together and had me turning the pages so fast. It definitely redeemed a star there. It’s just such a shame the rest of the book didn’t marry up to it.

Thank you to NetGalley and Hodder & Stoughton for my advanced copy.

Another great offering by B A Paris. She never disappoints! In The Guest, Iris and Gabriel come home from their make or break trip to find an uninvited guest in their home - their friend Laure who has left her husband. She has however, made herself rather comfortable in their home and soon outstays her welcome.
As is to be expected, there’s secrets, lies and twists aplenty making this a truly creepy psychological read.

This book was AMAZING! One of the best books I've read in a long time! I am a huge fan of B.A. Paris. But this is one of their best books! I couldn't put it down, finished it in a day and a bit. The storyline was captivating and of course there was a huge twist! Read this book you will not regret it! Thank you the NetGalley and B.A. Paris for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Iris and Gabriel get back from a holiday to find Laure, a long time friend, in their house, sleeping in their bed and wearing Iris' clothes. Laure has left her husband in Paris after he admitted having a daughter she didn't know about. The visit is prolonged and starts to create tensions. Pierre, Laure's husband is not contactable. As the pressure builds, the bodies start to pile up. Its a gripping, fastmoving story and you won't guess who the killer is. Its only a pity that the denouement has to come in the form of a confession by the killer in an epilogue.

I love this author’s novels and The Guest was no exception. A fast paced, gripping, psychological thriller that I devoured in a day as I couldn’t put it down. There’s some fantastic twists that will keep you guessing until the shocking conclusion. Thanks you to NetGalley, Hodder & Stoughton and the author for the chance to review.

I loved this book from start to finish. Instantly from starting the book I couldn't put it down and fell in love with the characters. Better yet I wasn't able to guess the ending! B.A Paris continues to be one of my favourite and reliable authors to read.

What would you do if you had an unexpected guest let herself in and never seem to leave?

this is the crazy tale of a couple, going through their own drama, keeping secrets and clinging to a marriage who are suddenly burdened with a friend and their matrimonial woes. Shes everywhere, making herself at home and giving them no space.

When that pesky twist showed itself I was annoyed with myself for not spotting it - looking back it was so obvious in the things that were said (written!)

Really enjoyed this book, found it hard to start with lots of characters. But one the story got going I found it hard to put down. Enjoyed the twists and just when I thought I had worked it out , the story twisted again.

The Guest follows the story of Iris and Gabriel, who return home from holiday to find one of their friends has moved into their house… and then she starts to outstay her welcome.

I thought this book was… OK. Certain elements did not convince. At the start of the book we find the character of Gabriel keeping a secret from his wife for no logical reason that I could see. And I’m unsure that anyone returning from holiday to find one of their friends living in their house would react the way the characters do here. The pacing is also uneven, dragging somewhat on the approach to the halfway point.

That said, the story kept me turning the pages, with the story leading to a satisfying conclusion.

This is my first book by B A Paris so I’m sure how it compares to the author’s previous work, but it’s certainly worth a read.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers, Hodder & Stoughton, for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

What a fantastic read. Clever plot, carefully laid and you don’t see the ending coming at all. Would certainly recommend!

Firstly I absolutely love B A Paris books! But sadly for me this one just didn't come close to her others.
Although it was still a good read, I felt the story was a bit flat and lacked any excitement. The storyline was much more predictable than I expected

When Iris and Gabriel return from a break in Scotland they find their long time friend Laure has moved into their house. They have been friends with Laure and Pierre for twenty years but are suprised to find out their marriage is in trouble. Hoping they will patch things up soon they let Laure live there but her stay becomes longer and longer and then the plot thickens.
This story grabbed me from the beginning and I was hooked! There are enough twists and turns to keep you guessing and I instantly warmed to the characters. And the ending!!! I really did not see that coming at all.
I don't want to say anymore as I read this book with no idea what it was about and what to expect. I thoroughly enjoyed it and urge everyone who likes a well written thriller to give it a read! Fantastic.

This book was a little bit up and down for me!

The first half I found difficult to get through. I think it was just a bit too slow for me and maybe not creepy enough? Which is what I usually prefer in a psychology thriller!

Anyway after the first half of this book, I actually did fly through the second half. I can't say I was completely happy with the twist, as I found it slightly boring, but I definitely kept turning the pages.

Overall, this was not my favourite book by this author, but I would certainly read more in the future anyway!

Gabriel and Iris’s relationship is on tenterhooks when they arrive home from a will-we-or-won’t-we holiday to find a dear friend living in their home. Laure has had enough of her husband Pierre after a certain revelation and needs time to decompress and consider her future plans. While Gabriel and Iris want to be supportive, and are, as time wears on, Laure’s presence is having an affect on an already-bumpy relationship. The feeling of suffocation that they all surely must feel is palpable when reading, as the friends try to get along under increasingly difficult circumstances. Don’t worry: it’ll all come to a head but not in the way you expect. There’s a number of little storylines deftly woven into the overall plot which makes it all the more entertaining.

Iris and Gabriel return home from holiday and find their friend Laure at their house. Laure is upset and reveals that her husband Pierre, also a friend of the couple, has admitted to having a child with another woman. Soon Laure has outstayed her welcome and with the couple facing their own issues the tension becomes too much.

I have read and enjoyed all of B.A. Paris’ novels ever since reading Behind Closed Doors and this was another great psychological thriller to add to the list. I enjoyed the different perspectives and characters within the story and found discovering their secrets and lies entertaining. The overall story is well written and intriguing; I found that my interest was maintained throughout. I was excited to see where the book would go and the epilogue was unexpected. There were certainly some great twists that I did not see coming! Another great book by this author and I look forward to the next one. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this copy in return for an honest review.

I found this book quite average. It plods along quite slowly, with a little drama here and there, but nothing made me feel on the edge of my seat and desperate to read on. There’s enough of a storyline to finish the book, and I have to say that the epilogue took me completely by surprise, but not enough to warrant more than 3 stars.

I was a huge fan of B A Paris as soon as I read her first book, I love her take on domestic thrillers and she totally pulls you into the story and never see the ending coming and this was no exception.
The characters in the guest are not the most likeable and Laure in particular was very annoying but I still couldn’t put it down.
There was loads going on and if you love a twisty ending then this is one for you.

I was very excited to read this as I do love Paris books, Behind Closed Doors was what made me fall back in love with books after years of not reading!
Unfortunately though #TheGuest just didn't gel with me, I can normally get to grips with multiple characters but for some reason I struggled here, I'm not sure if it was because they had slightly unusual names (so I wasn't always sure who was married to who) or what the reason was but it was a struggle to get the characters straight in my head. Sadly I actually found most of the book quite boring until literally the final chapter when all was revealed. Yes, it was a really great ending with a shocking surprise twist but it's not the type I particularly enjoy, I'm not keen when I feel that we've been lied to throughout the entire book as a reader.
Unfortunately I can only give 3 stars, thank you #NetGalley for the copy

3.5 stars rounded up.

Iris and Gabriel have just got home from a make-or-break holiday. But a shock awaits them. One of their dearest friends, Laure, is in their house - sleeping in their bed, wearing Iris' clothes, even rearranging their furniture. She has walked out on her husband - their good friend - Pierre over his confession of an affair. Iris and Gabriel want to be supportive. But Laure's mood becomes more unpredictable, her presence begins to unravel secrets in all their pasts - until things reach boiling point.

When Iris and Gabriel come home from a make-or-break holiday, they find their friend Laure has moved into their home. Deception, secrets, and lies are enough to put Iris and Gabriel's marriage to the test, and Laure has begun to outstay her welcome. It was almost the middle of the book before the twists started happening. There's also a backstory about a boy who died and Gabriel had heard his last words. I quite liked the epilogue.

I would like to thank #NetGalley #Hodder&Stoughton and the author #BAParis for my ARC of #TheGuest in exchange for an honest review.
