While the theory was good this book was much too far-fetched for me. Talking trees just doesn't do it around here. Not interesting topic for the young children.
This is a cute story with vibrant illustrations. The plants and trees of the early earth band together to shade water that is evaporating too fast due to high temperatures. I think the point of the book is to illustrate the importance of plants and the effects of global warming. As a science teacher I worry that the moving, talking plants may be confusing to young children. Plants can work together through chemical interactions but this concept is too abstract for little kids. We teach older children that the ancestors of whales and dolphins lived on the land and could walk. I wouldn’t want a three year old to think that plants used to be able to walk. I thank NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this ARC but I cannot recommend it.
A cute children's book that skillfully weaves important environmental lessons into a heartwarming narrative. Set in a time when nature could talk and forests could walk, the story follows their journey to save their precious lake from the ravages of climate change. The book expertly introduces young readers to crucial topics like climate change and the vital role of forests in water preservation. It encourages children to not only understand the importance of collaboration, friendship, and teamwork but also inspires them to take positive action within their own communities.
