I'm a big fan of Claire Douglas, The Wrong Sister is ok - but not one of her best.
If you want an easy thriller that you can read in one sitting this might be one for you.

I have loved all this authors books and this was no exception. I could not put it down once I started. The twists and turns were awesome and did not expect most of them. It was definitely a tense read which had me on edge of my seat all the way through.

When Alice’s sister offers Tasha and Aaron a child-free break at their luxurious apartment in Venice while she and her husband kyle look after there children, it seems a perfect opportunity to reconnect. But it's not long before everything goes spectacularly wrong, with an attack on Alice and Kyle while looking after the children then Tasha receives a note saying it should have been you. Who has a vendetta against Tasha and how much danger is and her family in.

This was such a enjoyable thriller which I highly recommend. Thanks to netgallery and the publisher for my advanced copy of this excellent book.

This book was enjoyable, but highly predictable, and as a life long crime reader I’d worked it out around the middle of the book. The ending was no surprise to me at all, the only bit I hadn’t worked out was the fact that Aaron’s auntie was the one who’d stolen the child.

When you have some “perfect” relatives, it’s obvious that they are tarnished and not as nice as everyone thinks, that makes me suspicious in the first place, and the DNA of Alice (twins in the womb) being referred to, I knew who’d done it!

My thanks to the publishers, the author and Netgalley for the ARC.

Loved this! Could not put it down and I tried so hard not to overthink ‘who could be who’ so that I could enjoy twists and turns! I thought it was well thought out and typical of every Claire you Douglas book I’ve read! Really enjoyed reading this and would highly recommend this book!

This is the first book I’ve read by this author. The blurb sounded very appealing to me. It was full of suspense and it kept my attention throughout. I devoured it quite quickly because I was desperate to find out the outcomes with everything that was going on. So many twists and suspenseful plots going on throughout the whole book. Very cleverly written and it definitely had me hooked. Thank you to NetGalley and Claire Douglas for my ARC of this book and it totally deserves a full 5 stars! I am now off to find more books by this author.

Fast paced enjoyable story with plenty of misdirection! The characters were likeable and it was easy to get involved in the storyline. Will certainly look for more from this author.

I've read a couple of Claire Douglas books in the past and really enjoyed them so when I saw this was available for requesting on Netgalley I jumped at the chance!

This had me hooked from the beginning and I devoured it in one sitting - very little sleep was had on Sunday night with staying up to read this!

Thriller books have my heart - while I love a good romance and fantasy story, I always find myself coming back to the thrillers and murder mysteries and this book did not disappoint.

10/10 for the suspense and the dramatic reveals throughout.

I also found I connected a lot with the main female character - she reminds me a little of myself in some ways (and not just because we have the same name!) but all the characters I felt connected to and really found the storyline to be believable and gripping.

If you're looking for a thriller with a good story and plot line, then do not hesitate to grab this!

Sisters Alice and Tasha's lives have been shadowed by the disappearance of their baby sister, Holly, thirty years ago. Nevertheless, Alice has gone on to achieve professional success and money, and is married to the equally rich and successful Kyle; Tasha is married to Aaron, her childhood sweetheart, with children of her own.

When Alice offers Tasha and Aaron a child-free break at their luxurious apartment in Venice while she and Kyle look after the children, it seems a perfect opportunity to reconnect. But it's not long before everything goes spectacularly wrong, with an attack on Alice and Kyle.

There are quite a lot of plot strands and characters going on here, what with mysterious notes, possibly dodgy business dealings, inexplicable DNA, odd behaviour from various parties, and the long shadow of the missing Holly. I wasn't entirely sure how the man in Venice fit in, and I thought Zoe's character and story could have been more developed given the circumstances. I did like the Holly storyline and how it was resolved.

I don't think The Wrong Sister is my favourite of Claire Douglas's novels, but she always delivers an enjoyable, engaging read and this was no exception.

Continuing with some upcoming proofs for the ninth book of the year, and I couldn’t wait any longer for this one as been dying to read it - ‘The Wrong Sister’, the latest title from Claire Douglas.

Tasha has always felt in the shadow of her older sister, Alice. With Alice flying high with her career & married to wealthy entrepreneur Kyle, Tasha feels they couldn’t be more different with her married to her childhood sweetheart with four year old twins. When Alice gifts Tasha & Aaron a trip to Venice to celebrate their wedding anniversary it seems like life is on the up and Tasha is excited for the life swap for a week. However a few days in it all goes terribly wrong when an intruder breaks into their home attacking Alice and killing Kyle. A note then appears for Tasha saying ‘It should’ve been you’ and it becomes clear someone is out to get them, but which sister?

The wait was worth it, this is a fast paced thriller with Claire Douglas’s brilliant writing style that has you engrossed from the first chapter. The misdirection of the story is perfectly placed, making you feel like you are heading in one direction before abruptly being sent down another route before another swerve altogether, so many twists and the final one is a very clever one. A clever use of different character points of view which sets the scene from all angles.

A little smile swept across my face at the mention of a character’s Cocker Spaniel called Biscuit (exactly the same as my dog!) and a very nice nod to the authors previous title ‘The Girls Who Disappeared’ in the mention of a podcast one of the characters wanted to listen to. I made this last a few days to savour it but could have quite easily read in one sitting! Another trademark outstanding thriller from this author that thoroughly recommend.

The Wrong Sister immediately gripped me and I read it all in one sitting as I just couldn’t put it down!

Tense, fast-paced, and thrilling!

The Wrong Sister follows two sisters, Tasha and Alice, as they do a bit of a ‘life swap’. Tasha is mum of 2 and gets to take a week away to Alice’s luxurious apartment in Venice, and Alice, the highflyer, gets to spend a week with her two nieces that she adores. It sounds like the perfect plan for them both to have a change of pace. It doesn’t take long for things to quickly go awry though and we’re soon swept up into a fast paced murder mystery.

The misdirection was just perfect here. I love a mystery with lots of red herrings, and Douglas perfectly interwove them to create a really interesting and complex plot that kept me completely hooked. Did I see the ending coming? Yes. But sometimes that’s more of an indicator of an author successfully planting seeds earlier on, than something negative. I personally want the ‘reveals’ to make sense, and they only make sense if the crumbs have been scattered about for us, so if you read a lot of mysteries this might not shock you but it will entertain!

I’m usually pretty against split POV but again this was done brilliantly and it really added to the story. I also think Douglas managed to create some really believable characters and relationships here that just added some richness to the story.

Honestly I don’t think I can ask for more! I am definitely going to be taking a look into what else Douglas has written as this was a thoroughly enjoyable read!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an E-ARC

Thank you to netgalley, the author and the publisher for the advance copy.

Claire Douglas never fails to deliver twisty psychological thrillers and this was no exception.

Absolutely brilliantly book that had me hooked from the start. It has you guessing the whole way through (although I did work out a lot if it early on) but that doesn't deviate from how brilliant a read this is.

If you love a psychological thriller then this is for you. I couldn't put it down from start to finish.

Well Claire Douglas has done it again! Another mind blowing 5 star read. The author takes you on a rollercoaster of suspense and misdirection to leave you guessing until the very end. Brilliantly done, wonderfully written with some top class characters. Gripping from start to finish, this is the epitome of a page turner and I could not put this book down. Flawless

Amazing! I love Claire Douglas books and The Wrong Sister is excellent. I went through lots of different emotions reading this story from terror to tearful. I didn’t expect the outcome either which is unusual for me. I highly recommend this book.

Ms Douglas has done It again with another fabulous read with her latest offering ‘The Wrong sister’.
Tasha and Alice are both sisters but very different to each other. Tasha lives in Chew Norton where they both grew up and is married to Aaron and has twin daughters. Alice is married to Kyle and lives in London and is quite wealthy. When the sisters agree to do a life swap. Alice will look after the twin girls. While Tasha and Aaron have a much-needed break and head of to Venice and stay in Tasha’s holiday villa.
The couple themselves when they are accosted by a man with a knife when they get lost in the back streets of Venice. But the couple manage to get away. But they receive further bad news when she gets a call to say that someone tried to burgle their home while Alice and Kyle and the twins are asleep. When Kyle goes to find out what is happening Kyle ends up dead and her sister Alice is injured. More shock comes when a note is left saying to Tasha that it should have been you.
This is another fantastic read from the author. It is a tense gripping and quite complex thriller, and the authors is great placing some red herrings to keep you guessing throughout. I hadn’t figured anything out until the conclusion of the story with the author’s trademark twist at the end. 5 stars from me.

I’ve read several books by this author and enjoyed them all.

Tasha’s older sister, Alice, is very wealthy and, as well as a big house in London, she and her husband also have a holiday home in Venice. Alice kindly offers her sister a holiday in Venice, while she and her husband, Kyle, look after Tasha and Aaron’s twin 3-year-old girls in their own home.

Tasha and Aaron arrive in Venice and, whilst getting back to the flat after dinner, they feel they’re being followed. Then they get a phone call to say that Alice and Kyle have been attacked – in Tasha and Aaron’s house – and that Kyle has died. Alice is still alive but in intensive care.

They rush back to the UK to be with their daughters and to support Alice, but then Tasha receives a note, saying “It should have been you”.

Brilliant and gripping, I couldn’t put this down.

Thank you to NetGalley, Michael Joseph, and Penguin Random House for an advance reader copy in return for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this awesome new thriller from @clairedouglasauthor
Claire has always been an auto buy author for me as every single one of her books have been an amazing experience for me.
So when @netgalley approved my request for this thriller I literally screamed out loud in excitement.

As per my expectations this was another winner. I found it had a great pace and kept me on the edge of my seat all the way through.
The key for me for any good thriller is not being able to guess the end.. and once again I was left gobsmacked by the twists as they kept coming.
Another easy 5 stars for Claire Douglas.

Thank you to @penguinrandomhouse @michaeljbooks and @netgalley for my EARC in exchange for this honest review

This book is due out in March 2024 and should be a must read for any thriller reader.

Having enjoyed all of her previous books I was looking forward to this one and it didn't disappoint. In fact I think it is her best yet. Really relatable characters, (likeable and flawed) interesting family dynamics, lots of red herrings and really well researched.
Loved it! Highly recommend!

I really enjoyed this book. The setting was realistic as were the characters. The plot was a bit far-fetched but it was still gripping. Family dynamics were explored well too.

Whenever I see a new Claire Douglas book I have to read it. And thanks to Netgalley I was approved an ARC of this which comes out in a few months time.
This one is probably not her best work. Don't get me wrong Claire grips you in quite early on and keeps chapters fairly short which definitely helps me.
The reason I dropped stars... Too many unnecessary characters thrown in and I found myself going who is this why are they important. I prefer books to have a few characters at most!
Also I found parts of the story skittish. Within a chapter it would suddenly change to a different part of the day and I sat there thinking I'd missed a page accidentally.
I thought I'd figured out the ending around 60% in but nope one final twist.
Overall not amazing but not a bad read.
