This was such a thrilling and psychological twists all the way through. Highly recommend and am so excited to read all of her books! New fav author!
as normal this author gives us an addictive read. Summer and Skye are twins. And have a younger sister. jade they are a perfect family until the day they lose their mum. There dad can't cope. Skye goes against her father's wishes and goes to university. Summer does not but it's all too much for her no friends. Her dad treating her like a child. one night she goes out to meet someone and never comes home. Her dad thinks she has left but her twin sister does not.as time goes by the dad meets someone. else and it's their wedding day. And when the house phone rings summer answers it then everything changes. who do you believe and who can you trust?
I was both obsessed with finishing this book and a bit repelled by it. I kept wanting the bad guy to get his deserved payback but I wasn't sure how much more I could read of his treatment of Summer. I was glad of the resolution of the story.
The sudden death of their mum has twins, Summer and Skye, torn in different directions, both due to go to university, only Skye leaves. Summer felt she should stay home with her dad and younger sister Jade. However only months after mum died, Summer disappeared with no trace. Fast forward 7 years and dad is remarrying, but on the morning of the wedding an anonymous phone call has Skye reeling.
Told from the perspective of Skye and Summer this is a chilling psychological thriller that will have you turning each and every page as you won't want to put it down.
I think I've previously mentioned being an avid fan of Diane Saxon: I've read all of her thriller books up to date, and was more than ecstatic to be able to read her latest psychological thriller as an ARC.
The Good Twin is a prime example of how a psychological (and claustrophobic!) thriller should be written. Not only is the research evident, but also very plausible. This book will be yanking on all emotions possible; Hope. Despair. Love.
Nothing is more enjoyable while reading a page-turner than noticing how much care the author have put into their work. Especially when we are talking about trauma, mental health, and the aftershock of distressing events.
Not only was this fast-paced thriller filled with twists and turns, but the small hidden-in-plain-sight symbols. *chef's kiss*
Simply put, my 'negative' feedback is not wanting it to end. I wanted more information on the characters. Just.. more. It was that damn good. Nevertheless, hands down one of the best books Diane has ever written.
I have really enjoyed all the books i have read by Diane Saxon and this one is no different, as always I was hooked until the very end,
Wow wow wow!
Skye & Summer are identical twins, inseparable but then they loose their mother. Skye wants to carry on and go to uni, Summer wants to stay home and be with their dad and younger sister. Summer finds herself lonely and needing a friend, which is where she finds LJ, he understands her, he knows what she’s going through and he listens to her.
Can Summer really trust LJ?
Honestly this book if I could give it more than 5 stars I would, it’s literally the best book I’ve read in a very long time. Reading it I felt as though I was watching a fast paced film, turning page after page. My heart pounding towards the end, wanting to know how it ends but also not wanting it to end!
My Little Brother was one of those thrillers I felt flew under the radar, so I was pretty stoked for this book.
Unfortunately it didn’t quite make the same impression. 2.75 stars rounded up. I had some serious plausibility issues with much of the book. I’m not one to try and guess a twist but found this book formulaic to the point of guessing the big reveal. It was still well written. Disturbing at times and I would highly recommend checking tw on this one. It’s definitely a great representation of Stockholm syndrome but I found it a bit underwhelming as a thriller. I still look forward to reading more of this author moving forward.
I received an advance review copy for free from NetGalley, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Another brilliant book from Diane Saxon. From the very first page you know that something isn’t right. I struggled to put this down and found the characters really believable. The chapters are from different characters points of view but I personally thought that instead of being confusing it made it more realistic. This dealt with so many issues including grief and loss, as well as the connection between twins. This kept me guessing until the very end and with Diane Saxon books I find they’re never finished until the very last page!
Mum died recently. It was quick and unexpected. On the cusp of adulthood, and without a mum to guide us, my sister Skye and I are left with decisions which will change our lives forever. As identical twins, we'd normally choose to stick together like glue, but anger and grief get the better of us, and we pull in different directions. Skye wants us to desert our broken family for university. I want us to huddle together at home with our grief-stricken dad and our younger sister, Jade. At an impasse, each of us makes our own choices, stubbornly refusing to give way.
Summer and Skye are identical twins. After a tragic event, Skye leaves for university. Summer is left behind with her dad and younger sister, Jade. The characters are well-rounded in this well-written and twisted story that has also got some dark themes. The further you get into the book, the more is revealed about the characters. This is a gripping and easy book to read.
I would like to thank #NetGalley #BoldwoodBooks and the author #DianeSaxon for my ARC of #TheGoodwin in exchange for an honest review.
The authors skillfully crafts characters that are distinct and thoroughly developed. The absorbing plot gains momentum with each page, unveiling surprises that add intrigue to the narrative. The pace quickens, keeping the reader engaged throughout, and the outcome for the chief protagonist is well written. As expected from this author, the latest book is a satisfying and thoroughly enjoyable read, leaving readers far from disappointed.
No good deed goes unpunished.
Summer and Skye identical twins with a over protective father, Skye flew the nest after their mum's death to university and Summer remained at home, the umbilical cord was cut.
Seven years on and Skye finds herself with only her dad and younger sister Jade and a new step mum Martha, when the day of the wedding a voice at the end of the house phone will chill the blood in her Veins, where is Summer? where has she been all this time? where is the good twin? why did she just disappear? all these questions need answers.
OH MY GOODNESS this book is one of a kind with plenty of big twists and turns to send you with eyes wide as your turning the pages. I loved this book as it unfolds so much about the characters. I highly recommend to readers its a bonus on your reading list.
This is one of those books that stayed in my head. So much evil it left me chilled. Well written characters and although horrific it was still a believable story. One of the best i have read in a long while. One small criticism....without giving anything away, i felt that towards the end i would have liked to see people's reactions. Oher than that i enjoyed every moment. My thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my copy.
This is a good solid read, with well written characters and enough twists to keep you guessing. I enjoyed it.
Diane Saxon's characters are clear and well defined. The absorbing plot builds and the pace quickens with every turn of the page. There are many surprises along the way and I found the outcome most deserving for the chief protagonist. The reader will not be disappointed with the latest book from the pen of this popular author. A thoroughly enjoyable read. My appreciation goes to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for giving me early access to this novel for my honest review.
Summer is struggling after a tragic event and usually twin sister, Skye, is there to help. Skye has decided to go off to university, leaving Summer behind. Summer needs someone to talk to and when she finally finds someone it ends up being a terrible mistake.
This is the first book I’ve read by this author so I didn’t really know what to expect. The author does a great job of creating a suspenseful atmosphere, exploring dark themes. The characters and overall story are well written, however I found it slightly choppy and repetitive in parts. I also found it a bit too long and slow paced. The overall story is definitely entertaining though and there are some good twists in the book; I will be looking at reading other books by this author if the reveals are as well done as this one. 3.5 stars. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this copy in return for an honest review.
This is the first book I read of this author. It took a bit of getting used of the switch from 1st/3rd POV and time frame. It was a bit slow at times. But it picked up and those twists/reveals !! It was shocking !! What a book, definitely recommend !
Thanks to Netgalley and Boldwood Books for access to this arc in exchange for my honest review.
So happy to have ‘discovered’ Diane Saxon! She is definitely one of my go-to authors. I loved everything about this story. So many secrets and lies. Crazy twists and turns with fabulous reveals. Captivating characters kept me flipping pages long into the night. Run don’t walk to pick up this gem. Thank you NetGalley, Diane Saxon and Boldwood Books for the opportunity to read and review this book
