While this is a sampler, I did buy and read the whole book, and had a good time with it!

I did think as a retelling of Sleeping Beauty it wasn't quite what I hoped, nor as successful as Cinderella is Dead, but I liked what Bayron did with the story and how she integrated other tales into the story.

This was only a sampler and not the entire book but from what I read, I don't think this authors writing and story telling is for me.
I found it hard to connect and enjoy the story. The overall idea of this book is good, I just don't think it's right for me.

Bayron's This Poison Heart duology is one of my favourites, so I knew I had to read this! And I wasn't disappointed, I'm completely intrigued to read the rest.

After loving 'Cinderella is Dead', I was really excited to read another of Bayron's fairy tale twists. It didn't disappoint. I love how considered Bayron's retellings are and how she uses them as a vehicle for making astute observations about the constraints of the originals and society today . As always, there was a diverse cast of characters, LGBTQ+ representation and powerful gender representation. The charcaters are nuanced and have real depth to them, as does the world-building. Another triumph.

I LOVED this. I'm mildly obsessed with fairy-tale rewrites and this fit into my tastes beautifully. I have all of the authors other books and, upon finishing this sample, went it and bought the whole book for me and my sisters (who also loved it)!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - this book was an amazing twist on the fairytale Snow White and it definitely did not disappoint.

This is a YA book however it was so well written that this did not take away from the enjoyment I got from reading this book.

This story is a take on the traditional story of Snow White with such unexpected plot twists that kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. I was so impressed by the unexpected plot twists that happened throughout. If you think you know how Snow White goes and if you think you’ll know how this book is going to turn out then trust me when I say you do not and it will not go how you think…. In a good way.

Byron’s writing style is engaging and so much fun to read leaving me begging for more. I was so excited reading this book and cannot wait to pick up more books from her.

The characters, world building and writing had me in a chokehold and kept me grasping to the pages of this amazing story. I was unable to put it down and devoured every single word.

Also can we take a moment to appreciate the QUEENDOM…..

As always, Bayron crafts an impeccable fairytale world. So much intrigue and mystery accompany some interesting characters like our lead, Eve. bayron proves her skill with retellings in what is a deeply developed world that I found so difficult to put down! Easily my favorite by the author.

What a fab sampler, honestly, I'm hooked and can't wait to read more. Fairytale retellings will always be my secret favourite 😍

This Sleep Like Death sample gives you the perfect sneak peek into what this book will offer. A good sample will always leave you wanting more. I think it would be interesting to read the book in its entirety once it is released.
The premise of this book is as follows: a Snow White retelling where people seek out an ancient monster known as the Knight, who takes your wishes and twists them into deadly curses. Eve, the main character in the book holds the ability to speak with animals and form weapons from her natural surroundings. As more people are bespelled by the Knight, Eve decides to step in and save not only her community and family, but also the Queen who is acting more and more unusually

SLEEP LIKE DEATH is a fairy tale reimagining that flips the villain and explores the depths of parental love.

This is not a straightforward retelling - there are elements of the Snow White myth in this, but it has been used more as a springboard for a tale of tricksters and fighting to stop that exploitation. This means that elements from other fairy tales are also drawn in, most predominantly Rumpelstiltskin. I enjoy reimaginings that take the elements and rework it into something different but recognisable in its origins.

I've seen it mentioned that this is set in the world of CINDERELLA IS DEAD. It's been a while since I read that book but I couldn't see any obvious references so if you haven't read that book (or can't remember it), it won't spoil your enjoyment of this one. They can be thought of as entirely separate books.

It is also a tale of love, focusing the most on that bond between parent and child. Unlike many YA fantasies, not all parents are dead or awful. Eve's relationship with her mother the queen is at the heart of the book, the lengths her mother is going to to protect her - and also how much she wanted to be a parent. This fiercely loving parent in echoed in Claude Kingfisher, with his boys and the way he takes in and looks after Eve. I really liked seeing these sorts of parents in YA - so often they're absent.

This sampler was short but good! Honestly put me in a great mood and mode to complete the rest of the book.

Already, we have so many questions: who is this knight? Why is he the way he is? How did Eve get her powers? I love that we are thrown right in straight away!

I'm highly optimistic about the rest of the novel.

Based on the sampler of Sleep Like Dream I enjoyed the following

Liked:
- The magic deals
- Accidental outcome of making magic deals
-The settling being led my females

Dislikes:
- the pacing is quite slow

I do want to pick up a full copy and look forward to completing the story

This is a really great introduction to this book. It starts with some brilliant introductions to the characters and scene setting in the first three chapters. I'm looking forward to continuing this once it has been published.

I loved this sampler. I love the world building and the protagonist. Everything I've read by Bayron has been incredible and have pre-ordered the book to carry on the story.

I recieved a sample of the first three chapters of this book. As it was not the whole book I will not be posting a review to my goodreads/social media's as I feel it wouldn't be fair to give a rating over a sample.

I did enjoy the start of this book. I could easily picture the characters and scenes in my mind and it felt magical. I want to learn more about Eve and her world and am intrigued by the Huntress! The Knight sounds like he could be character we are supposed to hate but might just end up loving?! It did make me want to pick up a copy of the book when it is released.

I love this reimagining of Snow White and the story pulled me in from the very beginning, I have once again requested a sampler by mistake and was shocked when it ended abruptly! i can't wait to see how the story continues when I get my copy!

I vow never to request samplers again, because it just makes me impatient to read the full thing! Was really enjoying this…then it stopped. Frustrating (but it does its job).
