Sleep Like Death features our main protagnoist Eve who holds special powers and has been training all her life to defeat the Knight, the one who grants wishes but not as people expect...
I cannot leave an accurate rating on this as the ARC I received was only a sampler of the first three chapters however what I can say is that I did very much enjoy what I was able to read. Please just note that the following is only an opinion on the first three chapters and when I read the rest of the book (once released), the opinions below could change.
The characters within the book all seem to be well-written and interesting. There's a bit of backstory to each and it is interesting to see where they all play their part within Sleep Like Death. Eve has trained all her life to defeat the illusive Knight, one of her mother's was cursed and the other is bearing the brunt of that curse whilst ruling a kingdom. I would be interested to see how the story unfolds with each character further in.
I enjoy the villanious aspect being about wishes. It's interesting to see how one might think that their wish is harmless and then the Knight shows them just how twisted it could be if it's thought about in multiple senses. I very much enjoyed learning about what other wishes had been made and usually I could guess how they could go wrong but this didn't make the book seem predictable - it read like a fairy tale.
Finally, the writing style is very fast paced and that is one of the main things I enjoy about YA books. I'm not usually one to read them anymore as I feel as though I have grown out of them but I have very much enjoyed all the books I have read of Bayron and I knew this one wouldn't be any different. Already I feel I have had a good glimpse into the book and that's from three chapters so I can only imagine what is to come.
A recommendation for any who enjoy a re-telling of fairy tales.

This novel is a continuation of the trilogy from the first book. From what I can only presume is retelling of the fairy tale sleeping beauty. The book is very quick to jump into action from the first chapter and a fast-paced book. It's perfect for fantasy readers who prefer an action-packed book from the get-go (start). This novel is ideal for a young adult where they reminisce on their childhood memories if fairytale with a twist. The only thing I will say is there could have been a bit more character building.

For a sampler, I believe this is a solid read. I am excited about the initial setup. I don't know if this is premature to say, but already it is a tight beginning that affords no prisoners. It's a distinctive re-telling I suppose, with a firm, clear leading MC in terms of intonation. It is easy to latch onto their voice I feel and I have remained emersed in the story so far. I wish this was the entire book, so i could provide a through outlook on the book.
Eve, the MC and so the author, Katlynn Bayron, allows for a good setup for pretty solid world building, i feel. The author's writing style flows with a simple but engaging melody, which I think helped me keep reading on.
Overall, I... we need and just want a bit more! Please and thank you.
Thank you Net Galley and Bloomsbury Publishing PLC for this arc

Very well written, with relatable characters and well-constructed dialogue resulting in a very disturbing — but also satisfying — storyline ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A rattling good tale But needed to continue…..,

Really excited to read the full book after this teaser sample! I love Bayron’s previous work and this looks just as good

It’s really good. I wasn’t sure what was happening from the first part but I understand now. From what I got to read as this was just a sampler I need this book right now I need to know what happens! I’m literally dying for me!

Thank you netgalley for the sampler on this book
The first few chapters of this book are intriguing for me to want to continue when it comes out, I found the writing good and was able to suck me in and devour each chapter

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the sampler!
I was hooked by the first 50 pages. I am already siding with the FMC and want to see her take down the knight!
I will be buying this book!

Amazing book, you will dive straight in to the world with ease, will be buying this books when it comes out definitely

Thank you netgalley for providing the sampler. I absolutely adored Cinderella is Dead when I read it and I am so glad that Kalynn Baryon is writing another fairytale retelling. I really enjoyed this sampler and will definitely will buy the full book when it comes out.

Kalynn Bayron always writes a great book. Once I started reading this sampler, I was so gutted I didn't have the full book to dive into. Thanks to NetGalley for the sampler.2

Thank you to Bloomsbury Publishing PLC & NetGalley for sending me an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
As soon as I started reading this book, I was pulled in immediately. I found the plot of the story enticing and gripping. I especially liked the worldbuilding and the evil antagonist, 'The Knight', who grants wishes. But these wishes come with a price that is tainted with evil. So all the people in the kingdom fear The Knight, and only make a deal with him if they are desperate or foolishly think they can best him which succeeds to no avail.
Eve, the heroine of our story, is affected by the Knight in her own way and seeks answers for how to defeat the evil Knight.
I found myself so engrossed in this storyline. I enjoyed the twists and turns. The originality mixed with hints of classic fairytales was a breath of fresh air.
However, there were a couple of elements that made me bring my rating down. The main character, Eve, I found that I wasn't connecting with her and didn't really like her. If her character development had been explored more than I think I could have resonated with her more.
There was also the potential Romance plot. To me, this felt a bit flat, and the chemistry was non-existent. I think if more detail and depth to this had been portrayed, then I would have enjoyed this book more.
Other than that, I really enjoyed the storyline, the worldbuilding, and most of the secondary characters.

A tantalising sneak peek into Bayrobs new book, I adore the writing style and was hooked straight away. Bayron had a way of writing that is almost poetic in description and how the words flow. I can’t wait to find out what happens with Eve and the ‘knight’ and what secrets the queen is keeping

I think Kalynn Bayron's books get better each time. The writing for Sleep Like Death is much more engrossing that Cinderella is Dead (though I did love that one). I'm already hooked on the storyline. I the couple chapters available the characters and back story is set up well. Especially like that there is a Huntress rather than the Huntsman.

This was an engrossing few chapters. I love Kalynn Bayron's writing anyway but I am even more excited to buy this book when it is released after having read this sampler. Their writing has somehow (I didn't think it was possible!) improved even more and is completely enrapturing in my opinion. Thank you for the opportunity to read this sampler.

Such a good and easy read, something to read when you just want to get lost in a different world for a day.
You get invested in the characters within the first chapter and you can’t wait to find out more.

The sampler was such a good taste of what’s to come and I’m excited for it. I love retelling a of fairytales so much, so this one definitely peaked my interest. The writing is gorgeous and I can’t wait to read the book!

I am really looking forward to reading this full book after kindly being given a sampler to read.
I love Kaylnn’s writing, she always has such diverse characters and explores everything this means so well.
The sampler was the perfect teaser to make me want to read more.

I love Kaylynn Bayron’s fantasy retellings and this opening sampler for Sleep Like Death was so compelling. I loved Princess Eve’s spiky character. The world was rich and the set up of the Knight as the villain very intriguing. I can’t wait to get a complete copy to read.

Just enough to get hooked! the first I have read by the author but I’ve heard great things. Look forward to reading the whole book.
