This sample only left me wanting more, when I got to the end and realised there wasn't anymore.. I was genuinely disappointed I couldn't fly through the whole book!

I have read a couple of Kaylynn's other works and love how her writing makes the stories just so easy to read, I'll definitely be picking this up when it's released.. I need to know more about the Knight immediately!

I read the first three chapters as part of a sampler given to me by NetGalley. I haven’t read any of this author’s work before. The introduction set up an exciting story and I look forward to reading more!

What a pleasure to go back to the world of Cinderella is Dead!

This sampler made me SO excited for the full book! I loved all the themes laid out in these three chapters, and I loved how they relate to the themes of Cinderella is Dead. Be it family secrets, long-lost history, legendary figures twisted into monsters, complicated family dynamics and magical realms, every element sounds very promising.

The pace is fast and sweeps the reader into the story as early as the first sentence. Eve seems to be an interesting main character, with an arrogance and a hunger for vengeance that I can't wait to see more developed in the full book. And her relationship with the Huntress already seems intriguing and complex.

I really enjoyed the first couple of chapters in this new story by Kalynn Bayron who loves to put twists on the original fairy tales. A retelling of Snow White, I am intrigued to see where this story goes and I will definitely be reading it as soon as it comes out.

The mystery of the Knight and his part in the current situation of the Royal family's current state is built well. Eve has always been on a path to undo the Knight and her character (strong, candid and a little cocky) is establised to build intrigue and expectation of where she will carry her kingdom. The magic system is also off to a strong start and I am really looking forward to getting into this world and this magical, butt kicking warrior princess

This little sampler of what has become my most highly anticipated books of 2024 has left me yearning for so much more.

I can already tell and feel deep in my bones that Sleep Like Death is going to be absolutely incredible, and definitely a front runner for my personal favourite of all Kalynn Brown's books that I've read and owned thus far.

I have read all of Kalynn's books and enjoyed everyone of them. So when I discover this sampler I had to read it!
Firstly the cover. Is in true keeping with all her works and defiantly draws the eye. It's screams fairy tale.
This little sampler drew me in from the first word and now I need more!! A mesh of different fairy tales come together in this action packed tale. I really, really want to leave a five star but As I've only been able to read the sampler and not the whole book I feel I can't fairly give five stars. I will make a further review when I have read the whole story. Which I can not wait to do!! I'm desperate to jump back into this land and find out what happens to my new book friends.
As in all Kalynn's work she includes a multitude of ethnicities and sexualities which as this is part of the YA shelf can only be a good and encouraging way forward.

Princess Eve, the heir to the Queen's Bridge throne, is a warrior, at one with the animals and natural elements of her Queendom. Her life would be idyllic were it not for the presence of the Knight, a secretive, monstrous being whose powers enable him to twist everything to his advantage; wishes become curses and the results cause death and destruction to those foolish enough to think he can be outsmarted.

I had the chance to read a sample of this novel, a retelling of Snow White, which was my first by this obviously talented and popular writer. To begin with, I found it a little confusing as Eve and her older companion hunted deer, and some of the Princess's powers and location were hinted at. Things gradually became clearer, however, and the world and character building began to draw an enticing picture, and I would definitely like to explore further.

I was able to read an advanced sample of this book thanks to NetGalley and the publishers, Bloomsbury Publishing, but the opinions expressed are my own. With no previous experience of this author to call on, I can only say this looks very interesting and is something I would definitely be happy to take a chance on. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4.

I have read all of Kalynn's books before and I am an avid fan. From what I've read thanks to the sampler, I cannot wait to go and buy the full copy of this when it hits the shelves!

This book has such a strong opening and I'm so intrigued by the Knight and how his path is inevitably going to cross with Eve's and what the reasoning is behind these tricky deals he's been making with her people. Why he's doing it, nobody knows, but it's clear something needs to be done to stop him preying on desperate people, and fierce and skilled Eve seems like the right person for this task!

This had me HOOKED from the very first chapter! I can’t wait to read this when it comes out. This is a retelling twist of Snow White and at first I was kind of like how is this Snow White? Which I think is actually a good thing because with retellings you want them to be unique enough that they’re not boring and bring a whole new life to a classic fairytale and this did exactly that. I absolutely love the idea of the Knight and what he did to Eve’s other mum and even just from these first few chapters I just know there’s something more going on with this story than you originally think. I love that this is about royalty and kingdoms, and it was an easy enough world to understand but not too simple.

I've only read the sampler for Sleep Like Death, so I can't speak about the novel as a whole, but I can say that the first few chapters were more than enough to get me desperate to buy it when it's released!

Just like she does in Cinderella is Dead (the only non Harry Potter fantasy book I recommend to everybody and read all the time) Kalynn Bayron beautifully transports the reader to this brand-new world that we don't know anything about, but that immediately feels real and as menacing as it is magical. She blends fairytales into her own original plots with such ease that her writing is as spellbinding as her characters.

I can't wait to learn more about Princess Eve and her family in what's sure to be a fabulous novel (if the first few chapters are anything to go by!)

i was so excited to get to read this sample, it’s the first three chapters of kalynn’s upcoming book and i am already SO intrigued and desperate for more. it’s definitely made me want to preorder it instantly because i NEED to know more about eve and her powers, about this mysterious ‘knight’ and what was happening in those few last pages!! thank you netgalley and publishers for providing the advanced sample copy.

These first few chapters in the sampler were quite fast-paced and I liked it! The mysteries of her mother and of the knight are very intriguing and I’m curious what’s going to happen next!

I only got 3 chapters of the story and I'm already so invested!! I need the book NOW!

This is only a little sampler of what to be and already I am hooked and very eager to read the whole thing! We meet Princess Eve and we hear about The Knight, I can’t wait to see how Kalynn Bayron writes this because if it is anything like Cinderella is Dead it will be amazing

Obviously with a sampler it is only a section of the novel but I think it is safe to say that this retelling by Bayron is sure to be a hit. From the first page I was hooked, dragged into the world Eve and Queen Regina. The writing is everything you would expect from Bayron, beautiful and poignant. Her characters all come to life easily and I had fell in love with Eve by the first few pages. My only problem was where the sample ended and how I have to wait until June to find out more! You can bet I have already preordered it and will await anxiously for it.
If you love fairytale retellings with strong and amazing characters this is one for you. In the meantime you will have to read or reread her other hits.

Five stars and I only read the sampler.

So far this is an interesting take on Snow White, her connection with animals is like a gift that the main character has and she can sense them which I thought was unique.
This book was atmospheric and engaging from the first page. It has great world building and enjoyable narration. I really like the main character already and the villain seems really interesting. I can't wait to see where it goes from here!
